Video Transcript for Curt Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - A-6 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at Part Number A-6, this is the CURT two and five-sixteenth inch trailer hitch ball. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. This hitch ball is going to give us a shank diameter of an inch and a quarter, it's going to give us a shank length measuring from the bottom of the platform to the end of the threads of two and five-eighths of an inch. This is designed to fit draw bar thicknesses of a half inch to one inch thick. The hitch ball is going to offer a capacity of ten thousand pounds. It's made from a solid steel construction with a nice chrome finish on it, so it is going to stand up really well against rusting and corrosion. Here on the sides of the platform, it's going to have the flats, these are just your wench flats, makes for an easier installation, you can get your wrench around there for a nice, adequate grip.

Really going to come in handy when you need to torque this down. The hitch ball will need to be torqued to specifications listed by the manufacturer. You can find all that information on the tag that's going to come attached to the trailer hitch ball. You just want to make sure that you remove this tag before your installation. Really simple installation though. The hitch ball is going to go straight through that opening on your ball mount.

You're going to place on the lock washer as well as the nut, and then you're going to get everything tightened down, and again once you get it hand tight, or once you get it tight with a wrench, you will need to go ahead and torque it down to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. It looks like for this particular mount, it says to tighten the trailer ball to four hundred and fifty foot pounds of torque. That's going to do it for our review of Part Number A-6, this is the CURT two and five-sixteenth inch trailer hitch ball. .

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For Trailer With 500 lb Tongue Weight
I highly recommend getting a weight distribution hitch with sway control, and the best option for your Forest River travel trailer with a loaded tongue weight near 500 lbs is from Equal-i-zer: - Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution with 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37061ET This hitch is rated for loaded tongue weights between 200 lbs and 600 lbs so it has the perfect range for your trailer, and I really like the Equal-i-zer for a number of reasons. One of the best things about it is its superior...

  • 10,000 lb Weight Distribution Hitch to Replace One Without Spring Bars
There aren't any replacement spring bars for your current weight distribution hitch, so if you need longer bars, the best thing to do is get a new 10,000 lb system. For that you can go with an option that has sway control, or if you don't need sway control, you can go with a standard weight distribution hitch. The best option for a 10,000 lb system is from Curt: - No Sway Control: Curt Trunnion Style Weight Distribution System # C24UR - With Sway Control: Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch or Electric Sway Control for 2019 Coachman Apex Nano 185BH
For your 2019 Coachman Apex Nano 185BH, you don't need to use a weight distribution system but it may still be beneficial not only for sway control but also for the lift to reduce rear truck sag when towing. My recommendation is the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution with Sway Control # RP66073 because the dual cams and rolled trunnion bars will keep that light trailer tracking correctly behind your Titan XD. The bars will be required for that sway control which is the bigger issue...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2005 Jeep Liberty Towing 3000-lb Boat Trailer
The 2005 Jeep Liberty equipped with 3.7L gas engine (and automatic transmission with cooler) and the 2.8L diesel engine version do have a maximum trailer weight capacity of 5000-lbs. Other versions of the 2005 Liberty have lower towing capacities so you'll want to confirm how your Jeep is configured before towing. When a trailer weighs more than 50-percent of the tow vehicle's weight we recommend a weight distribution (WD) system to help reduce rear end sag and to control trailer sway....

  • Can a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Use a Weight Distribution System
I checked out the owner's manual for a 2023 Hyundai Palisade and there were no exclusions for using a weight distribution system. Therefore, so long as you have a trailer hitch rated for this, like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e95ZR which is what I recommend, you'll be just fine. The weight distribution system I recommend is the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17499 since it's an excellent cost effective option with built-in sway control. It features a simple...

We can get your 2022 Forest River R-Pod RP-193 set up with a weight distribution hitch with sway control, and while we don't offer the Recurve, we do have an option that is better, from Fastway: - Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-0800 The Fastway # FA92-00-0800 is for total tongue weights between 400 lbs and 800 lbs so your R-Pod will be perfectly within those ranges. It is better than the Recurve because it gives you optimal sway control at all times,...

  • Recommended Weight Distribution System for Trailer with GVWR of 5,200 Pounds
You are correct that a weight distribution system that is rated too high for what you need can cause a rough ride for you. On the other hand if it's rated too low it won't be able to do its job. If your trailer is fully loaded you'll likely have a loaded and ready to tow tongue weight between 500 and 600 pounds. You also need to add in the amount of weight behind the rear axle of your 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. With that being said you're probably looking for a system rated in the neighborhood...

  • Can Weight Distribution System be Left Engaged While Backing Up
We do! My personal favorite weight distribution (WD) system is the Reese Strait-Line for which part # RP66082 with the 200 lbs - 600 lbs tongue weight range is the same as the WD system you were looking at. The Strait-Line uses dual cams for the sway control which gives you the best performance on the market and allows you to back up. If you have to do some pretty tight turning while backing up then you'll want to basically uninstall the arms and cams prior to doing so but this is good...

Absolutely we can help you find a really good weight distribution system so you can safely tow your 2021 Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB. This trailer has a GVWR of nearly 3,900 lbs, so a good estimate for your loaded tongue weight is going to be in the 450 lb - 500 lb range. • Recommended Weight Distribution System for Aliner Classic Camping Trailer
For the weight capacity, you do not technically need a weight distribution system. However, due to the design of the trailer, I do recommend using a weight distribution system for the sway control features as the crosswinds or passing vehicles may create more sway than would be comfortable. For your 2015 Honda Odyssey, I recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control # RP66082 for your application because it will be a fit for your trailer tongue weight and any additional...

This is a better size for your tongue weight listed and will give you the functions you desire. With the tow package, you already have the factory 7-way so I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180 which uses a mobile app and won't add wiring in your Pacifica. • Will The Curt Weight Distribution 17502 Work On Trailer With 950LBS Tongue Weight & Clear Tailgate?
When using the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17052 or another weight distribution hitch you do not have to include the weight of the hitch in the tongue weight calculation for the trailer. So this hitch is rated for a trailer with 800-1,000lbs of tongue weight and total weight up to 10,000lbs. It is important to ensure the weight of the hitch and tongue weight of the trailer do not exceed the capabilities of the receiver or your 2022 Ford F-150. Your truck and receiver will have...

  • Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for 6000 lb GTW 900 lb Tongue Weight Boat Trailer
That's a lot of tongue weight for a boat trailer! If your trailer has a surge (A/K/A Hydraulic) brake coupler, you won't want to use a chain suspended weight distribution system like the Curt # 17341 you've looked at. The tension on the chains caused by the spring bars will prevent the surge coupler from properly actuating, curtailing your braking effectiveness. With 900 lbs of tongue weight capacity, the # 17341 you'd looked at wouldn't work well because it has an 800 lb tongue weight...

Yes. You can use a drop ball mount like the # C45336 with the Patriot Hitches # PH54FR to get to your 16" drop total. 5" drop ball mounts are very uncommon, so a 6" like mentioned above and raising the receiver in the Patriot mount will still get you where you need to be. Trailer sway and bounce can have multiple potential causes. Wind gusts from passing vehicles, rough road surfaces and trailer loading all have an effect on trailer sway. (Usually, it is too little tongue weight that adds to sway.)
