My recommendation is to have a custom adapter made for the height and length that you need on your 2010 Chevrolet Malibu with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36479. Typically the power wire for a wiring harness like the T-Connector # C56387 that you are installing on your 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is routed outside and under the vehicle. If you can locate a grommet like part # A11GB at the rear of your vehicle you can then route the wire outside without drilling through your Malibu.
