  • How to Fit Thule Hullavator Kayak Carrier on 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon with Factory Rack
  • If you are able to have a crossbar spread (front of one crossbar to front of the other crossbar) of at least 24" and you have the appropriate overhang range of 4" - 8" for the Thule Hullavator # TH898 then you'll be good to go, but I'm pretty sure you will have a smaller crossbar spread than 24" with the current setup on your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon - we can still work with what you have though. Since you already have Thule square bars we can use those as long as they are the newer bars...

  • Will Motorcycle Carrier Reduce Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity on 2022 Subaru Outback XT
  • Unless it says it does in the Haul-Master manual (which is highly unlikely) I wouldn't expect the motorcycle carrier to reduce your capacity. This is something that happens when you use an adapter, not when you use an accessory like a motorcycle carrier, bike carrier, or cargo carrier. Neither of our carriers # e56UR or # e98873 reduce the capacity of the hitch. Basically, as long as it has a solid shank and doesn't use an adapter this isn't something you should be worried about.

  • Can a Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller Be Powered By The Trailer Battery?
  • On a wireless brake controller like the Curt Echo # C51180 you found it needs the power coming from the vehicle to power it. So you would at least need a Charge Line # RM-156-75 with an Adapter # 37185 to make the controller function. Also your state laws are likely going to specify you have to have power coming from the vehicle to maintain the charge on the battery for your trailer as it is likely also the breakaway battery.

  • Parts Needed to Install 7-Way and Brake Controller 2023 Subaru Wilderness Outback
  • The trailer you will be buying has a 7-way trailer wiring connector so to convert your 4-way to it you would want the part # 37185 unless the trailer has brakes that you need to control (most likely since it has a 7-way) then instead you'd want the part # ETBC7 with a brake controller. For a brake controller I would recommend the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty part # RED24FR and the install harness part # RED69FR. Unlike other controllers this puts only a small knob on the dash and has a proportional...

  • Roof Rack Recommendation to Carry Fishing Kayak with 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon Touring
  • Thank you for all of the information! We do have a solution for you to carry a heavier fishing kayak, like the Old Town Predator PDL or the Hobie Outback, on the roof of your 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon Touring Edition. For your application I recommend using the Thule WingBar Evo roof rack system which consists of their 47" Long WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711220, Evo Flush Rail Feet # TH710601, and Fit Kit # TH186047. This system has a 165 lb weight capacity so you can be confident that it...

  • Wiring Adapter Needed For 4-Way on Subaru Outback to Pull Trailer Having 7-Way and Autowbrake
  • You are going to need our 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L to tow a camper having a 7-way behind your 2017 Subaru Outback with a 4-way flat connector. The Adapter # HM47365 you found does go the opposite way from what you need. The charge line included with our 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit # ETBC7L will both charge the battery on the trailer and power the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller # 3430001

  • Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness
  • You already have a 4-way on your 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness so the only thing you need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, breakers, and everything else required for installation. There are no plug and play options available so you will have to run some wires up to the cab (if you're adding a brake controller) and engine. If you're adding a 7-way so you can use a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro...

  • Will EcoHitch or Curt Hitch Have Better Clearance for 2012 Subaru Outback
  • The information I have says the # 306-X7162 has a ground clearance measurement of 10-1/2". The Curt # C13410 has approximately 12" to 12-1/2" of clearance when measured to the bottom of the receiver. I'm not 100% sure how accurate the EcoHitch information is since we haven't measured it ourselves. Based on the installation and where the receiver position any difference in ground clearance appears to be negligible. The main difference between these two hitches is going to be the price....

  • How to Find the Brake Switch on a 2024 Subaru Outback
  • Thanks for the pictures! It sounds like you are looking for the brake light switch. What you will need to do is use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to probe all of the wires from the brake switch to determine which one carries 12 volts when the brakes are applied and none when released.

  • Curt VS Draw-Tite Hidden Cross Tube Trailer Hitch Receivers For a 2018 Subaru Outback
  • The Curt # C13410 and Draw-tite # 76227 are very similar in design and both have the same weight ratings of 600lbs tongue weight and 4,000lbs of trailer weight. I do like that Draw-Tite does add the additional plate of steel in between the hangers that will help give the 2" receiver additional strength. I do recommend installing the 4-Way # C56040 when you install the receiver. This will be much easier to route outside your vehicle when you have the bumper cover removed so you do not...

  • Can I Use Two Thule Hullavators # TH898 For My Two Kayaks On My 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon?
  • The Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 will work on your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon but it only has the capabilities of carrying one kayak and there is no way to get two systems on your roof. If you are wanting to carry both of your kayaks at the same time, you will need a roof rack system. If you have factory raised rails you can use the Malone AirFlow 2 Roof Rack # MPG216. They are 58 inches long, made of aluminum and have an aerodynamic look to them. This will help prevent loss of fuel economy...

  • Can The Replacement Bent Towing Receiver SP325 Be Used On Other Bike Racks?
  • While it may technically be possible to fit the Replacement Bent Towing Receiver # SP325 to other racks, this is not something we recommend doing. The Replacement Bent Towing Receiver # SP325 is designed to only fit the Swagman Traveler XCS - Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack, which is now discontinued. If you attempt to use this with another bike rack, you are really getting into unknown territory, and we cannot say with certainty that the setup will be safe or secure. Using this part for any...

  • Brake Light Hitch Cover Solution for 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Receiver
  • In order to use a standard light up hitch cover that doesn't have anything special, like the skull eyes, you'll need to use the Brophy Adapter # HTAD. This then allows you to use a light up cover. I also recommend ordering locks for both to help deter prying hands from using your light setup on someone else's vehicle. We have the hitch locks # e98880 and # e98879 which fit 2" and 1-1/4" receivers respectively and can be ordered keyed alike if you choose so. Attached are some review videos...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation For 2017 Subaru Outback to Tow Small Camper
  • Hi John; I'd definitely get a frame-mounted hitch for your 2017 Subaru Outback to tow a small camper. I'm not aware of a bumper-mounted hitch for your Outback, but if there were one I definitely wouldn't trust it for towing purposes. There are two options for a hitch on your '17 Outback, depending on if you want a concealed crosstube or visible crosstube: - Visible Crosstube: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13206 - Hidden Crosstube: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410 Another thing you'll...
