How to Find the Brake Switch on a 2024 Subaru Outback
Question:
Hello! I have this wiring kit, the curt 4 pin to 7 way adaptor kit, and a draw tite break controller. Following some of your great videos I am almost finished wiring it all up on my 2024 Outback Premier XT Canada but I am unsure which wire to tap into on the break pedal stud. The plug that goes into the brake stud has 5 wires green, white, yellow, black and a blue/red. Which one do should I tap into for the brake controller? The video I followed the most was a 2020 Outback and the instruction said a brown wire. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks for the pictures! It sounds like you are looking for the brake light switch. What you will need to do is use a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to probe all of the wires from the brake switch to determine which one carries 12 volts when the brakes are applied and none when released.

Thanks for the reply, Jerred! I have a multimeter but have been unable to get a decent reading on anything on the plug. The wire gauge is very small as is the openings on the plug. I have tried inserting a small gauge wire into the back end of the white plug but with no luck.
