Expert Answers about Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500

  • Installation of EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch on 2019 Mercedes Sprinter 2500
  • EcoHitch does not allow their instruction manuals to be linked, so I cut out and added the most relevant portions of the installation of the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7352. This hitch, which is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500, requires you to first remove the front grill and bumper, for which there is instructions in the manual which is included with the hitch. The rest of the installation is straightforward, requiring you to bolt...

  • Do Wheels of 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Get Removed to Install RoadActive Suspension Kit
  • When installing the RoadActive Suspension system kit part # RAS3620 on your 2019 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 you would need to remove the rear wheels after jacking the vehicle up off of the ground. You can have the heavier stuff installed as long as your jack is capable of lifting that additional weight when you go to install this.

  • Connecting a Brake Controller Red Wire on a 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 2500
  • Your 2017 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 may actually have brake controller port or wiring harness that you can use to install a brake controller. I have included a link to a video that may help. It is on a slightly older Sprinter but can be used as a guide. The 2006 to 2018 are part of the same generation. If the van has a third brake light (CHMSL: center high mount stop lamp) and it is the only thing on that fuse you could use it to attach to the red brake controller wire. The white ground...

  • Is Glue for Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack Easy to Remove
  • I would use an adhesive remover that is safe for vehicle paint if you eve need to remove the rails for the Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack # TH302043. This will likely be a bit more difficult to remove than the double-sided tape, although it should hold better. This is a great option to go with if you're wanting to avoid adding a hitch or roof rack on your vehicle. If you're like to look into a hitch mount or roof mount option just let me know and I can look into it for you.

  • Does Blue Wire on 37185 4-Pole to 7-Way Adapter Need to Be Connected When Using RF Brake Controller
  • I'm assuming you're speaking of the # 37185 4-pole to 7-way adapter. You won't need to attach that blue wire from the adapter to anything, just bundle it up out of the way. The Black wire needs to run to the vehicle battery, using some # 10-1-1 wire through a 40A circuit breaker like # 9510 and the white wire needs to be grounded to the vehicle frame or chassis and the 4-pole connector on the adapter needs to be plugged into the 4-pole adapter on the vehicle to access the taillight circuits.

  • How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
  • If your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 came with a factory 7-way trailer connector then there should be a green connector located under the driver's seat. This green connector would then be plugged into a Mercedes-Benz speciality harness and attached to a brake controller. However, if you do not have this connection or cannot find it then you will want to proceed with the hardwire option. In order to hardwire a brake controller such as the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller...

  • Installation Instructions for Rear Anti-Sway Bar for 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500
  • I have attached the installation instructions for the Roadmaster # RM-1209-128 to this answer, but this rear anti-sway bar will mount in place of your factory sway bar. If your 2016 MB Sprinter 2500 does not have a factory sway bar you will also need to add the Mount Kit # RM-590064-00. These mounts will connect to the frame and provide the mounting points for the Roadmaster sway bar.

  • Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Will Not Turn On With a 2016 MCB Sprinter 2500
  • For starters, if you have the factory brake controller wiring provisions then the correct wiring harness you will want to use with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 on your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 is the Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers part # 3063-P. If this is what you have then there should only be power on the black wire entering the brake controller. If there is not then you have a short, there is a misplaced fuse, or...

  • Brake Controller Installation on 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
  • Assuming your Sprinter has the factory tow package with the 7-way at the rear bumper, in addition to the # RED24FR Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller, you'll also need the # 3063-P wiring harness and the # 331-TPH-017. The connector to install the controller is located under the driver's seat as shown in the provided photo. • Grounding Electric A-Frame Jack While Using the Jack-It Bike Carrier
  • Good question. The Lippert Jack-It, part # LC429756, certainly could cause a ground issue if the A-frame jack grounds through the mounting hardware. The rack is steel so all you need to do to solve the issue is sand away some of the powder coat finish where the mounting bolts go through the jack and the bike rack to the trailer's frame. This'll allow the hardware to make a good bare metal connection to ground the jack.

  • How to Install Trailer Brake Controller on 2016 Mercedes Sprinter Using Factory Plug
  • According to my research, the factory brake controller plug for your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 uses the red/yellow wire for 12V power (connect with black wire on brake controller), the black wire with red or brown tracer for brake light switch (red wire on controller), the black wire with blue tracer for brake output (blue wire on controller) and the brown wire for ground (white wire on controller). If the wires on your harness are not labeled for function, I also recommend trying...

  • Does the EcoHitch 306-X7352 Need Drilling on 2016 Sprinter 2500
  • Our friends from Torklift told me that (as of 2020) they recently changed the design to eliminate the need for drilling for ANY Sprinter 2500 models. If you have the older version of this hitch, however, the following advice might still help you out. I checked the install guide of the EcoHitch Hidden Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7352 for you and sent it in a separate email. • Can I Use Tire Chains on the Clear Highway
  • You should not use any tire chains, including the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains, part # TC2323, on a clear road. It could destroy the road, the chains, and your tires. If one of the chains were to break, it could potentially destroy your brake line as well. There are too many things that would go wrong if you were to drive on a clear road with the chains still on, not to mention the max speed rating is only 30 mph, and the authorities would not be too happy since the chains will...

  • Is the Curt Echo Waterproof?
  • Yes. Because the Curt Echo # C51180 is made to be outside the vehicle, it's engineered for maximum weather resistance, but I would not recommend submerging the Curt Echo for any extended period of time. The unit is filled with an epoxy resin that seals off the internal components from moisture and the elements, ensuring long-lasting operation despite rain, snow, dirt, mud, and more. I do not recommend that you use this on a boat trailer that may submerge the connector, but it will stand...
