Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

I got the rims in a timely fashion, I was able to track my package from time I ordered till it arrived on my door steps, iam excited to get tires on them and on to my trailer!

by:

wheels seem good. one had a 3/4" spot that the powder coat is rubbed off. Quality control fail. The spot is on the tire bead seal area. I will have to paint it before I mount the tires or return it.

by:

Very impressed by the construct of the wheels . They are made in the USA ! and at a reasonable price. They arrived by UPS in a very heavy duty cardboard box with with cardboard and paper separating the two wheels. I was very impressed . No damage at all to box or wheels . Thumbs up to shipping department !

by:

I would say the rims were very nice, they could have been packed better. There were 2 rims in one box, one rim broke out the end and got some damage on it.

by:

Wheels were priced well and e trailer has a great selection
Delivery was on time
Package could have been better, some of the paint was chipped due to wheels banging into each other

by:

Just what i wanted and fast delivery too! Dan at customer service was very knowledgeable and took my order over the phone.

by:

It's like all you have to do is think about needing rims and two days later there at you front door. Very happy

by:

I received my Dextstar steel spoke trailer wheel faster than expected. I was pleasantly surprised. The trailer rim looks perfect and matches my other one precisely. I'm very happy with my purchasing experience.

by:

Over the past year we have pulled the camper over 12,000 miles. The wheels have held up well with no problems. They clean up easily and still look as good as they did when purchased. Very pleased!

by:

Perfect fit and fast shipping.

by:

It’s a rim…made in the USA. Perfect for a second spare on my travel trailer. Same as the spare that came with it. Recent blowout made me want to have a backup for longer trips.

by:

Wheels came Quickly and were good quali ty

by:

I bought 3 wheels and had new Goodyear tires mounted and balanced. All 3 wheels wobbled on the spinner and the man had to put on a lot of weights to get them true. I pulled the trailer to Alaska and back without any problems.

by:

very fast shipping will order again

by:

Fast shipping and very nice powder coating!, Good packaging.

by:

Great Steel trailer wheel at the lowest price.

by:

I received the wheels and am very happy with them. Have tires mounted and installed on my trailer. Wheels have a good finish that should look good for years.

So far I am very satisfied with them.

by:

Definitely disappointed. I waited an extra week and a half as they only had one in stock. One had 3/16" sideways wobble and one had that plus 1/8" vertical wobble. Pinstriping looked like a 3 year old did it. worst trailer rims I've ever purchased or mounted tires on. Will definitely make me think twice before ordering again if this is their acceptable quality. I'll pull my new tires back off these and mount some scrubs just for Spares, but I'm not going to run these on my trailer and put up with the endless vibrations.

by:

My wheels arrived on the day indicated that they would be delivered. They were packaged well and I found no defects in the product.

These wheels replaced 4 rusty wheels on my 24' travel trailer.

Would recommend this supplier to anyone interested in this product.

by:

nice product and reasonabled priced always a pleasure to work with etrailer

by:

These rims do not fair well in a salt water environment even if you wash them down after every time the trailer is dipped in the water. I would spend the money next time and purchase galvanized or even aluminum wheels. I will be replacing them this year since the spokes as they attach to the rim seem suspect. May be a great choice is a fresh water environment but not in salt water.

by:

Very fast shipping, nice wheels to mount my new tires on.

by:

the 4 wheels arrived when you said. They arrived 2 to a big box much larger than needed with no packing. The wheels were allowed to strike each other as they rolled around in the box causing damage to rim and the inside of the wheel, as the tire covered most of the inside damage, and the hub cap covered Most of the rim damage, I elected to keep them and not return them.
I suggest you review your packing and shipping procedures.

by:

Shipped quickly, packaged in a box and wheels were protected by cardboard inside.

by:

They are a good inexpensive steel wheel for my 24' travel trailer, drove about 6000 miles on vacation last year and didn't have any issues with them, and still look decent.

  • White 15 Inch Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern ST225 75 R15 Rating E Tire Recommendation
We have a rim/tire that is pretty close to what you are looking for, but the rim width of 8 inches isn't something we carry in the 15 inch diameter wheels. You should note that the ST225 75 R15 tire size you referenced isn't designed to fit 8 inch wide rims. The width range this size fits is 6-7 inches. For a Load Range E tire in the size you want you would want the part # AM10303. For a 15 inch white wheel with the bolt pattern you need you would want the part # AM20522. This would...

The backspacing on the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel, # AM20522, is 3 inches. If you add the wheel flange to the equation the full measurement from the mounting pad to the wheel flange is 3-1/2 inches. All of the trailer wheels we carry have 0 inch offset, see photo, unless otherwise noted on the product page. Trailer wheels are designed with the lug nut mounting pad in the center of the wheel for the best weight carrying capacity. I added an informational article about trailer wheels...

  • What is the Capacity of a 15x6 Inch Trailer Wheel with 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern
There are different capacities depending on the wheel. For 15x6 wheels with a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern we have the following capacities: # AM20522 and # AM20524 are rated for 2050 pounds at 75 psi # AM20504 is rated for 1820 pounds at 75 psi # AM22627, # AM20551, and # AM20537 are rated for 2150 pounds at 65 psi You would not use passenger vehicle wheels on a trailer. They are not rated for that application and often the offset and/or bolt pattern is not right for a trailer.

  • Wheel Recommendation to Reduce Trailer Width
You don't mention the tire size you're dealing with, but you'll need to locate some wheels that have a positive offset of at least 1/2 an inch. The # AM20522 wheel you'd looked at is a 15 inch wheel with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern, so I'll assume that's in the neighborhood of what you're needing. If that's the case, I'd recommend the # AM20504 Dexstar conventional 15 x 6 rim with a +.05 inch offset. This will move the outer edges of your tires in by 1/2 inch on each side, assuming...

We offer a 15 inch diameter by 6 inch wide white spoked wheel in a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, part # AM20522, but none of our vendors offer a 16 inch wheel with that bolt pattern. Generally, 16 inch wheels are used on larger trailers that have heavier axles that use a different bolt pattern like 6 on 5-1/2 or 8 on 6-1/2.

  • Recommended Aluminum 15 x 6 Trailer Wheel With 2800lb Load Rating
I have a different option for you, but the highest rated 15" x 6" or 7" aluminum or steel wheels with the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern have load rating of 2150 lbs. These would be like the aluminum wheels # AM22651, # AM97XR, # AM22651B or the steel Dexstar #AM20522. For a wheel with a load rating of at least 2800lbs you will need to go with a wheel that uses the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern instead like the Aluminum Viking Series Valhalla Trailer Wheel - 15" x 6" - 6 on 5-1/2 - Silver Spoke...

The backspacing for the Dexstar Steel Spoke Trailer Wheel, # AM20422 is 3 inches, which provides zero inches offset. This means that the point where the wheel studs go through the wheel is centered in the 5 inch width of the wheel. A 5 inch wide wheel will measure approximately 6 inches overall width with the wheel lip. • Recommended Tire and Wheel to Work with My Keystone Outback Travel Trailer
I recommend the BF Goodrich Commercial T/A tire LT235/75/R15/C as it will fit on a 15 x 6 wheel. These are typically traction tires and wouldn't be the best option for a travel trailer. The width of this BF Goodrich tire is 9.2 inches and 28.6 inches overall diameter. It has a max load of 1,985 pounds at 50 psi. On your travel trailer with 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern and upgrading from your 205/75 R14, I recommend the Kenda radial tire # AM32468. It is a 225/75R/15C and has a maximum...
