  • More than 85 percent of all semi tractors on the road today have some kind of air ride suspension. Shouldn't your towable RV have the same kind of ride? The answer is YES, and now you can do it affordably with the Center Point Air Ride Suspension System.
  • Center Point adds air ride suspension to any RV or horse trailer, dramatically improving ride and towing experience with two air bags that absorb road shock and reduce fore to aft trailer movement known as chucking.
  • Dual air bag absorption; replaces standard trailer equalizers
  • Tandem Axle Configuration
  • Improves ride; dampens road shock
  • Improves braking in case of emergency stop
  • Must have double-eye springs
  • Application: axles with capacity up to 8,000 lbs
  • Raises trailer 2"
  • 90-Day warranty

Video Transcript for Lippert Center Point Trailair Air-Ride Suspension Upgrade Review

This air ride suspension is going to be designed by Lippert Components. What it's going to do is it's going to make your ride much more comfortable when towing a heavy trailer like this. When you're looking to add a suspension upgrade on to your trailer, I think this is probably going to be the way to go, in my opinion. If you think about putting airbags on a trailer, a trailer like this size is very heavy. Gross vehicle weight rating is 16,000 pounds plus. Well, if you think about something this size on the highway, what do you think about You think about tractor trailers. All your tractor trailers have air ride suspension.

Why do they have air ride suspension Because they're carrying heavy loads and they want a lot of that shock to be absorbed, not only from the road, but by the weight pushing down on your axles. So adding something like this is going to greatly reduce any of that. It's also going to greatly reduce chucking you get, and how that works is, let's say we didn't have this and we have our old suspension in place. What happens is, our two axles are working against each other. So let's say we hit the brakes. As this axle pushes up, it's pushing this one down. If we go over a bump, let's say we go over a bump there, this one goes up, this one pushes down, this one hits the bump, this one goes up, that one goes down, they're actually working against each other. With this setup, as this one comes up, it has that airbag to cushion it.

Instead of pushing down on the front axle, the airbag has taken up that, or is absorbing that pressure that this axle is pushing up and vice versa. It's going to do the same thing for the front.Even though we have this installed on a camper, it doesn't mean it's designed specifically for a camper. These are going to be designed for any Tana 00:01:46 Maxwell trailer that's able to carry heavy loads.Let's say you have a horse trailer that's Tana Maxwell, you can carry six, eight horses in it. That's a lot of weight. If you don't have a setup like this, the horses are going to be going like this every time you hit a bump.

With our air ride suspension like this, a lot of that road shock is going to be taken up by the bags through your suspension. So not only is this set up going to make your ride much better, but it's also going to make any cargo that you may be hauling, for instance, your horses, this is going to make their ride much better. It's going to greatly reduce a lot of vibration. You're going to get inside the camper, so you're not going to have to clean up inside when you get to wherever you're going. We had our own suspension installed on here, and we did a test. We had some water or a cup of water we had put inside, and with our old suspension, we lost about half of the water that we put in the cup.But here on the other side of the trailer, you can see it's going to be exactly the same on both sides. The construction of these is a very heavy duty steel.

And when I mean heavy duty, I mean these things weigh about 60 pounds each.If we come inside to our bags, these are going to be in double counter loaded bags. If you look right here in the center, there's going to be a metal rod that runs all the way around the center of that, and what that does is that keeps the bags from overlapping their selves.Put it in a little bit better perspective. If you have a single bag without this ring, what happens when that squeezes is the bag will kind of fold over itself, and what happens is that puts your pressure on that fold, and that fold can eventually start to wear out. With this, this keeps our bags from overlapping so it's going to make them last a lot longer. If we come down here to our shackle bolts. Our shackle bolts are going to have invert fittings. These are going to allow us to fill the inside of the bolt with grease. Being able to fill the inside of that with grease, because this part where the spring is, and this down here moves, being able to fill that is going to allow this to last much longer than just a regular bolt with a sleeve on it.I'm really impressed with how heavy duty these are here. We have 7,000 pound of axles. And you really need something this heavy duty when you're working with bigger trailers like this, which brings me to the next point. These are actually going to work with axles up to 8,000 pounds, so another 1000 pounds bigger than the ones we have here and bigger than this trailer, so that's how heavy duty these are.Another benefit to adding these is it's going to raise your trailer up two inches. Being able to raise that trailer up two inches, it's really going to limit how much damage you do to anything underneath. For instance, you go into a cammy 00:04:37 spot that has some different terrain on it, with regular suspension on it you could potentially tear off your drainpipes, which I've seen happen. Being able to add that two inches is going to greatly reduce that damage. The kit's also going to come with a valve and a gauge which is going to make it a lot easier when we need to fill our airbags, we don't have to go back to each side of the trailer to fill up the bags. We can do it from right here. This can also be mounted in several different locations on your trailer, it's going to come with plenty of airline tube to get it ran wherever you desire to put it.Our gauge allows us to fill our bags up to a hundred PSI. The filler valve is going to be just like a standard filler valve on your car tires, so you'd be able to get a regular air truck on it if you need to fill up your bags. And they're going to recommend five PSI for every 1000 pounds of weight. It's a good idea to check your weight rating on your trailer, and adjust your bags according to how you like to pull it.That's going to do it for a look at installation on the center point air ride suspension upgrade by Lippert Components.

Installed slippers Center Point system on out Alpine 3101RL 5ver. The install is straight foreward if your mechanically inclined. Now about the lack of instructions, nothing shipped from Lippert. etrailer provided a link to help with that. I do prefer printed instructions opposed having to scroll through my phone with dirty hands.
The torque specs provided by Lippert don't align with normal torque charts for said fasteners. The banana shackles are very thin and unplated, they are just raw steel. For the cost of the suspension Lippert cound do better on the shackles in this kit. Lippert recommends in stalling the air gauge for the air bags outside, however to gauge is a cheap plastic model. I feel it would have a short life span exposed to the elements. The good now, it seems robust and likly to help absorb road shock. I have not had our 5ver on the road yet. But I will leave more feed back when I have. I purchased this suspension system after finding a broken main leaf on our front tandem. I replaced all of our leaf springs bushings and bolts with the wet bolts
Supplied in the kit. FYI Lippert neverfail bushings fail in less than 7k miles. We are not over weight.

A year has passed an our center point system is still going strong. This system.has reduced the road shock that our 5ver has to endure. We are full timers. We put 7k miles on this season. We have decided that there is less movement of stored item, such as our pantry items.

Just installed the lippert center point and I have to say very impressed on how well it’s built. Super easy to install and I can’t wait to take it down these California roads and see how much better it rides. Installed on a 2022 jayco eagle Ht 29.5 BHDS

by:

Product delivered in perfect shape. Had local RV repair shop install. Thought this was doing a great job till we took a trip to AZ and I17 from Flagstaff to Camp Verde proved me wrong. We had several things broke in kitchen. Wish I would have gone with moryde IS. If you have a short trailer that doesn’t weigh over 12k empty these would probably work great. Will be going to moryde in Sept to get IS and selling mine.

by:

Shipped and received as ordered and describe. Only missing 1 lock nut for bolt that went on left side to frame. Installed myself and took about 3 hrs to complete installation and run air lines and gauge. Only thing there was no installation instructions for torquing nuts. Will see how it handles Wednesday 5/30/24 on getaway trip to see Micky and Minnie. My fifth wheel is 44 ft long Forrest Glen Wildwood Heritage Glen Elite 16,000 lbs. Note: Had to modify the piece that slides up into frame mine had a reinforced piece welded inside on frame had to notch each side to slide another 1/4 “ up for blot to go though hole.

by:

I absolutely love this setup, it takes almost every bump out of play when towing my 5th wheel. Speed bumps are almost non existent. I would highly recommend this product, it's well worth the investment.

It works flawlessly, couldnt have made a better choice youll feel more of the bumps in your truck than you will the trailer. If youre a hunter and want to go down a bumpy dirt road, no problem. I would highly recommend this system.

by:

Center Point Air Suspension Upgrade performed as advertised. We have a noticeable decrease in movement of items inside our Fifth Wheel after traveling. I would recommend and would do it again.

by:

Worth the effort. Enjoying new brake sy stem.

by:

Adding disc breaks to my was the best upgrade I have ever made. The breaking power is fantastic, they are always in adjustment and I can stop my 36 ft 5th wheeler faster and safer with less strain on my truck.

by:

Outer box came badly damaged but all parts their minus parts list and instructions.they where email to me immediately while I was on the phone.I install the air assist by myself on gravel with 2 bottle jacks and hand tools and torque wrench.excellent kit had everything needed.

by:

Build very good. Have not installed yet so I can not say as to operation yet

by:

Before purchasing and installing these we were breaking leaf springs about once a year. Since adding this package, we are doing well (and the roads have not gotten any smoother!).

Rhonda

11/15/2021

hey are holding up. Adding the air cushion package we also bought from your company seems to have addressed our breakage issue. Thanks for asking. Pleasant surprise!

by:

Just received them and now I am making arrangements to get them installed ...to be continued...

by:

I purchased this because I needed to lift my trailer 2 inches. I know that is not the purpose of this suspension. The suspension seems okay although not a noticeable difference with my Morryde CRE3000's. It did not raise my trailer at all. Zero. Huge waist of time and money!

by:

I had been looking at different equalizers with rubber components to give my 5th wheel a softer ride, then I seen the the Lippert center point setup, so I started watching videos of both, and after sometime thinking it over I decided to go with the Lippert center point because I used to drive a semi truck and trailer and both of them had air ride suspension, so for the money this was about as close to that setup as I could go without spending a lot more money, so for me I went with air ride 5th wheel pin box and Lippert center point suspension, I don’t have the suspension installed yet but I know it will make a lot of difference

by:

These air springs were night and day difference on our Vanleigh Beacon. We cannot recommend them enough. We bought a couple spare bags in case one blew out we would not be stranded as it might prove difficult to find them locally.

by:

Looks like a well made product. Timely sent.

by:

It did not fit my unit. It would not slide up in between the bracket on the chassis. Would have required cutting the bracket off, obtaining a different bracket and welding it in place. It's a nicely designed product and would have given it a higher review but etrailer made me pay return shipping at $129.00. This is the reason I no longer purchase from etrailer.

by:

Made rv ride a lot smoother and loved made camper taller

by:

The product looks great. Very well built. Arrived on time. The air gauge was package with the heavy spring linkage and glass is cracked. Will add a picture. Will add a review after I get it installed. Ken

by:

These really smoothed out the ride and added a couple inches of lift which I needed.

by:

Very straight forward Installatlon and absolutely love the ride

  • Are Shocks Needed When Using the Lippert Components Center Point
It is not required to use shock absorbers alongside the Lippert Components Center Point part # LC1565391. There will still be a dramatic increase in ride quality without them. The reason that you do see the pair being used together is because the airbags have a tendency to bounce a bit on bumpy roads and the shock absorbers will minimize this. Most individuals who install the Center Point are looking for the best possible ride so they will go all out so to speak and add shocks as well but...

The Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers part # TSR14K35T01 will be perfect for your 14,000 lb 5th wheel trailer. The capacity only needs to be rated for the weight over the axles, not the entire weight of the trailer. Since you have a 5th wheel, 15-20% of the trailer's weight will be placed on the tow vehicle so this then puts you right in the sweet spot for the system which is about 80% capacity.
