Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Installed it just like video on your site. Fit like it was made for it. Never have trouble with your products!!!

I primarily haul bicycles using a very heavy bike rack. This hitch is super - rack doesn’t wobble, great fit!! Love that is streamline and very little show.

2024 Honda CR-V

Great hitch. I’ve always ordered my hitches from etrailer because of fast delivery, great customer service and importantly the video you provide for the same year and model I ordered for. I think it’s very helpful for someone like me because I install the hitches myself.

2024 Honda CR-V

Installed on a 2024 CRV Hybrid Sport. Took me about 2 hours maybe little less, but I needed some time to figure it all out. Installed hitch by myself just lowered the exhaust using seen methods here to hold it up, then the under cover/shield plastic piece. Maneuvered the hitch over exhaust, easier on hybrid as only one, then used the tow hock bolt to help hold it up. Once held up feed the frame bolts through and on, tightened them down. Oh you do have to trim the bumper fascia as specified to get the hitch in, this was done before installing bumper. Lastly needed to trim up the under plastic shield to fit around new hitch and put the 5 plastic push pins and one 10mm bolt. Done can be done by one person will take some maneuvering but two will be better. Would recommend this hitch for anyone with a 2024 Honda CRV.

by:

First impression: this thing is bullet proof. Fits perfect. Only complaint is the instructions and the video forget to tell you that in addition to trimming the rear valance the under body fiber panel should be trimmed for the best fit. PS: the rear valance trim width should be increased to 3 1/4" wide easier fit and better appearance

2024 Honda CR-V

The hitch mounted well. On-line instructions worked well so it was rated 5 star.
It was a little tough because of removing the exhaust hangers, but it was well documented. (See pictures involving two people to hold, plus work bolt installation, etc. :-))

(This is our 5th purchase of a Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver for our various cars so we applaud your offering!!)

by:

The hitch was installed and looks great. Instead of receiving one 1/2” Conical Washer, I instead received five 7/16” Conical washers so I could not complete step 7 and properly fasten the hitch 1/2” bolt/nut using 7/16” washer.

by:

I have used etrailer for trailer hitch needs for several of my vehicles throughout the past 15 years or more. It’s always exactly what I needed, priced right, and speedy delivery. Keep up the great service!!

2021 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring
Draw-Tite
Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2"
Code: DT79MR
I installed this unit on my vehicle. 2021 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring.
I followed the instructions but not in the sequence in the instructions.
1. Using a flat head screwdriver, remove (11) rivets & (1) bolt from bottom of plastic tray and keep for reinstallation.
2. Lower exhaust–Using an exhaust hanger removal tool, lower muffler by removing (4) rearmost rubber hanger for two exhaust mufflers and (1) forward rubber hanger. A spray of lubricant or soapy water on rubber hangers makes them slide off metal pins more easily. NOTE: Be sure that exhaust is properly supported before removing rubber hangers.
3. Feed the carriage bolts 1 and spacers 2 through access holes on both side frame rails using the pull wires 9 for horizontal holes, see Figure 1. Leave pull wires attached.
4. Trim lower fascia Using a tape measure, marker or painters tape, and utility knife, measure, mark, and trim the lower fascia. See figure 2. I only cut it to 3" Wide by 1-1/2" High. (Lift gate wiring harness plastic in the way to cut any further)
5. Raise hitch into position, feed the pull wires through bracket slots and lifted it over the exhaust. Raise it up over the metal L brackets above the facia trim piece. Loosely install carriage bolt 5, spacer 6, conical washer 7, hex nut 8 through hook bracket of hitch and vehicle tow hook (See figure 4). Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washers 3, hex nuts 4 to the hitch. (Recheck facia trim piece cutout. Also check if rivet holes lined up correctly).[ Mine didn't but close enough as I didn't want to relocate the sensor wiring harness plastic]
6. Tighten all 7/16-14 x 1.25 GR 5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m) and 1/2-13 x 2.00 GR 5 fastener to 75 ft-lb (102 N*m).
7. Reinstall (11) rivets & (1) bolt from bottom of plastic tray and check if it needs to be cut. (Mine needed a couple of small cuts).
8. Reinstall the muffler hanger to move the muffler back into position.
Summation of the project was this product is not really designed for Hands-Free Liftgate option. Also Honda's factory hitch can't be installed on a CRV Hybrid as per parts literature.
Glad I was able to accomplish this task on the car as once you make the cut on the facia there is not turning back.

Thank you for your review. A slight flex can cause the bolt holes not to match up perfectly. Also, this does not fit a hybrid or touring.

Honda

Great hitch. No issues. I have a 22 Honda CRV with the foot actuated liftgate. I did not relocate the sensor wire and it still works great; no issues sensing my foot. Be careful though because if you are fiddling around the hitch pin area with bikes on the rack it could attempt to open the tailgate and hit the bikes (lesson learned). Solid rack, well made, very easy installation

Still great after 1 year. Foot sensor still works great. Still happy with hitch. I recommend it.

Easy install, quality materials and good welds. It’s been working as a bike carrier for a year.

Honda

Bought the trailer hitch receiver online but was advised to buy the wiring harness for the 2019 honda crv touring from the dealer, which I did. I picked the trailer hitch receiver because it doesn't block the hands free door opening sensor which is very handy. However, when you use the honda wiring harness with it, it does block the sensor. Other harnesses may avoid this. So that was the only wrinkle. The receiver works well but a crv isn't that big so any trailer is going to tip forward to connect to the ball. Good value, good quality and it didn't cost much to pay someone to install it since instructions and fit were all solid

Stephen

4/12/2023

Although the product reviews say it can be used with the hands-free door sensor, it doesnt work on our 2019 honda crv touring. We got the wiring package directly from honda and its possible that the location of that is whats causing the sensor not to work. But thats been a disappointment

Honda

Hitch fit a 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport-L perfectly. Removing the muffler hangers was a tad annoying, but that's not etrailer's fault. Easy install otherwise and super clean appearance.

by:

Installed on 2021 CR-V Hybrid Touring.

The
good: hidden behind the bumper as advertised, requires trimming of the hard shell cover around the hook, but not around the side arm of the hitch bar.

The bad: I was not able to fit the hitch in with the tailgate sensor. The sensor bracket was in the way even after cutting it per the instructions and moving the sensor cable. After trying for a while opted for removing the sensor and bracket altogether. Also, the paint seems to chip easily, already had chips from shipping.

by:

Pretty easy to install. The box was ripped and part of the the hitch was sticking out when delivered. No damage. This was probably from rough handling by UPS. They should use a thicker cardboard box, or reenforce the product with more packaging. Very sturdy and looks good on the car!

Just bought - 2023 Honda Hybrid CR-V SP Touring. Honda only wanted to put a class 1 hitch(1 1/4)”) on and also a hands free lift gate adapter on for $800 plus. I was told by e-trailer that this one would work and it was a Class 2 hitch. (2”) which is actually exactly what I wanted to fit my bike carrier and other accessories I have. Everything went real well - make your cut out 3” x 2” on your facial and this is right up to your point of your wire channel for your sensor for your lift gate. PERFECT !! Definitely it takes two people to get the hitch installed and bolts on and under the bumper where it belongs. It takes some time to get the exhaust put back on and the dust cover back on too - and also that needed some trimming also - just eye it up to where it belongs and cut out areas where it needs to be cut. Nothing real fancy. Install the (1) 10mm bolt and push pins next which were sort of a pain alighting them up to where they belong. Just be patient and take your time. Got it back together in about 1 1/2 time - would be able to do next one faster. Looks very nice and professional done for under $xxx and I have a Draw - Tite Class 2 hitch installed and my hands free lift gate works too… (without buying that adapter that Honda wanted to sell me.) well worth the trouble of doing it myself and a lot cheaper. Good luck to everyone out there - this can be done. Don’t let Honda say that it can’t be done. Thank you e-trailer.

by:

Nice product, nice installation package from what I can tell. The only problem is that the vertical vane under the hitch tore a hole in the box, and the paint was scraped off to the steel underneath. I'm pretty sure that will speed up the rusting process. Rather than go through the hassle of returning it, etc, I painted it myself. Other than that, no problems. I'll be putting that in later today.

I hate to say it however this does happen from time to time. You have already done what we would have recommend by touching it up with rust resistant spray paint. I will still have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

by:

The hitch and accompanying hardware were high quality, and the instructions and video were understandable and helpful. One modification of the instructions I would suggest, is that for my model the rectangular washer would not fit through front holes in the frame rail, I had to fish them through the rear hole that was larger. Also I recommend leaving the wires attached to the carriage bolts until you get the mounting flanges up to the frame rails helps prevent the bolts getting pushed completely up into the frame rail, which happened to me on the first attempt.

by:

The install was fairly easy, fit, great, and was almost flush with the bumper.

by:

The hitch is fairly easy to put on,but the 2 blocks that go in frame rails in back are too wide.I had to grind them down about 8th of an inch to get them in.Other than that good to go.

by:

The hitch receiver fits as advertised. it doesn't block lift gate foot sensor love it!!!

  • Bike Rack and Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Honda CRV
The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 part # SH22P is a really solid choice for a bike rack that I would recommend highly for your 2018 Honda CR-V. It's really well made, easy to use, and lightweight so I think you'll really like it. Bike racks all somewhat obscure the license plate of vehicles but it's really not a problem. • Can a Draw-Tite Hitch for a 2018 Honda CR-V Fit Any Other Vehicles
Draw-Tite is one of the leading trailer hitch manufacturers and they make hitches for almost every vehicle on the market. For a 2018 Honda CR-V you would use something like part # DT79MR but this is only designed to fit 2017-Current CR-Vs. If you have a different vehicle it will require a different trailer hitch.
