Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Your hitch went on with ease. I don't think it took more than 20 min. for that part. The installation looks good when finished as seen in picture.and clears the exhaust pipe well. The pain in the neck part was getting the plastic cover off the bottom of the car with the screwy fasteners and taking off and replacing the interior panels to do the wiring harness. These two things probably took 3 hours.
I am happy with the outcome, although it hasn't been used yet, and thank you for what appears to be a well made hitch.

by:

Can only give three stars now as I haven't towed anything yet. Installation was a little rough, but I was doing it alone and the car was the main issue as the simple plastic screws for the fascia. Once I got them out, with a little wiggling, the hitch went right into place. I'm tacking the wiring tomorrow though!

I'll update my review after my trip in early July.

The staff , Donna especially, has been beyond amazing. I ordered the wrong hitch bar to go with this product, and she emailed and called me to correct it ASAP, and still had my order fulfilled and delivered within a week. Thank you for that!

2012 Hyundai Elantra

I found a local auto shop that installed the trailer hitch and wire harness for $80. They said the hardest part of the job was getting the wiring done because they had to take about everything out of the back of the Elantra Touring (small Huyndai station wagon) to get to the place to put the "plug and play" wiring in place. It is amazing how the right tools and the proper knowledge makes jobs like this so much simpler. I appreciate the prompt delivery of the hitch and wire harness and the free shipping was wonderful. I will recommend your firm to anyone in the market for any trailer or additional items for any kind of vehicle. You have a great selection and your tips for the installer really helped (per the guy working on the installation).

The trailer hitch and extension work great. Since this is on a small station wagon not a truck the extension seems to rattle a little more than I expected when the trailer is not attached. I realize that there is probably no practical way to eliminate that noise without messing up the way the devices go together and can be swapped in and out, that is the only thing that is at all even a minor thing. I have been totally satisfied with the hitch and the way it handles my mall canoe trailer. I would certainly order any other items I might need that your firm could supply from you. Many thanks for the good service and in taking a continuing interest in how your products satisfy your customers. Wish every company took this much interest in the satisfaction of their customers. R. Thank you very much for your one year follow up. To help eliminate the rattling that you are hearing when the trailer is not loaded you could use the Roadmaster No Rattle # RM-061-125 Device. This would attach to your current pin and clip and would snug the ballmount up to the hitch to eliminate the rattling. This part is designed to work with solid shank ballmounts like your # 3594.

Hyundai Elantra-Touring

I ordered the the draw tie hitch, wiring harness, and draw bar. It arrived on time. It was very easy to install. It did take me about and 1 hour just because I took my time. I wanted to make sure I did everything correct. I used spray lube just like they showed in the videos and it made all the difference. I would recommend etrailer to anyone looking to purchase a hitch. I have not installed the wiring harness, I will take that to my mechanic (as my car is still under warranty and I don't want to break it). I also had some questions prior to buying the draw tie and they were answered almost immediately. Great customer service!

Thank you for reaching out! I dont use the hitch weekly but probably once a month or so. It works great! I will definitely purchase your product again if I buy another vehicle at some point in the future. The videos were extremely useful and it was very easy to install.

2012 Hyundai Elantra

This a replacement for one I purchased in 2012. I got rear ended with my bike rack on the car and the hitch got bent. Bought the same one. Just had it installed so have not used the new one yet but I had no issues with the prior one so I expect the same with this one. I only use the hitch for my bike rack. Ordering from etrailer.com was quick and easy as well.

You lose underbody faciaI had the hitch on in less than 30 minutes. Though I did take the exhaust loose, I'm not sure it was necessary.

Per instructions, the underbody facia must be removed for hitch installation and left off. I figured Hyundai had it on for a reason, namely to protect the back side of the bumper from mud and ice accumulation, so I reinstalled it. It took more than minor trimming, as I spent about 3 hours, cutting and fitting to get the facia back on around the hitch.

If the main cross bar of the hitch had been designed to be about an inch further away from the bumper it would have made the facia trimming much easier.

by:

Good fast delivery as promised. Installation was easy except for removing the plastic cowling under the vehicle. We'll see how it performs. It was purchased to carry a Thule 3-bike rack.

The hitch fit! That's all there is to it. The build quality is excellent as was everything else, including the bolt threads. But can you imagine the frustration if it didn't fit? All the hassles of returning a heavy, steel tube assembly. Not here.

by:
2012 Hyundai Elantra

Included good directions and all parts (bolts) needed. This receiver frame attaches to the sides of the body rails so it needed to have exactly the correct dimension. No problem. It fit up perfectly.

by:

i have ordered at least half a dozen times and it never surprises me how fast the hitch is received. i order this last one on a sunday evening and received it wednesday afternoon. you can not go wrong ordering from e-trailer. once they receive your order they do not mess around on getting your product out to you asap. thank you once again for the great service.

The product is exactly what i expected and installed how it should. The service, follow through and communication were exceptional. When buying a product like a hitch, it is the service and support that can make and break the experience. Seamless job on the part of George at etrailer.

2011 Hyundai Elantra

Took more than 40 minutes b/c of the foolish tailpipe hanger! couldn't get that puppy off...gave it some 'help'!! But once off, OK. Tight tight fit side to side; had to lose some paint and tapped it in. Finger tightened on pass. side first because of needing to tap it.

by:

What a pleasure! When you receive a product engineered and built this well it just makes you smile. The dimensional tolerances of the hitch were perfect to within a thin coat of paint. The 4 included bolts were an easy fit with the pre-threaded holes in the body frame. Don't hesitate to take this on as a DIY project.

by:

The excellent Q&A assured me that I was getting the right part for my vehicle. Installation was straightforward, and the instructions were clear.

Good service and good fit. Easy instruc tions.

  • Draw-Tite Receiver Location Relative to Rear Bumper of 2009 Hyundai Elantra
I do have some information for you but unfortunately we haven't had the chance to install the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24844 on a 2009 Hyundai Elantra so we don't have a video for you that shows the where the receiver sits in relation to the bumper. Aside from the linked installation instructions I went out to the warehouse and found that from the rearmost mounting hole to the end of the receiver opening measured about 10". The center of the hitch pin hole is further...

The Kuat NV, # NV12G as an example, and the Sherpa, # SH12B as examples, are platform style carriers that hold the bikes at the wheels and would not be the best bike racks when using stabilization strap # 18050 with a Curt trailer hitch # C11471 on your 2009 Hyundai Elantra. Curt does not provide instructions on how you would attach the strap to this type of bike rack so you would basically need to attach it anywhere that you could.
