Fits perfectly on my 2016 Audi Q5. With the aid of the video that I found on YouTube, I took my time doing the work and got it done by myself in less than 2hrs. Bike rack is now mounted!

The best aspect of this product was the excellent customer service from etrailer. I needed customer support, and etrailer responded positively and send me new parts to replace the ones I was having trouble with. They have an top flight customer service department, and great follow-up. I will always buy from them when they have the product I need.

The u-bolts provided with Curt model C13136 proved to be defective. The last threads on both u-bolts were crushed, preventing fully tightening the nuts. I reported this to Curt, and they sent a replacement hardware package including new u-bolts with the same defects. When I reported this, Curt sent another package with the same problem. Dealing with Curt’s technical support was a nightmare. Despite my sending close-up photos of the defective u-bolts, their technical support people couldn’t seem to understand the problem. One rep told me the inner-most threads were not needed in the installation, which is totally wrong, and the others just didn’t get it at all. Their only solution was to send another hardware pack, while it was obvious that their u-bolt supplier had supplied them thousands of defective bolts, and all their current hardware packs had the same defective u-bolts. Before the second replacement hardware pack was sent, I asked the technical support person to please open the package and look at the u-bolts before sending me another defective set, but obviously that didn’t happen. Curt really needs to upgrade their technical support. It was very frustrating and nonproductive dealing with them.

2015 Porsche Macan

Great hitch but came with too short of carriage bolts. They need to be about 1/4 " longer for the Macan. Also it did not come with Porsche Macan instructions.I only had to trim the rear cover 1/2 x3/4" and it looks factory.
I did speak with a tec guy a curt about the issues an he could have cared less.I liked there hitch and your service ,this my third hitch from you and I would order again .I mail you before the hitch got here and they e- mail a full copy of instructions for both Audi Q 5 and Porsche Macan to me that should have came with my hitch. Thanks to woman who helped me with the mail.
Just a heads up i spent over 30 years as auto tec for Three different car lines so I know my way around a car and this is my 5th hitch that I have installed. Great shipping speed. I tried to order a cargo carrier but the shipping was to much .I should have ordered it when I ordered the hitch. Thanks Frank

Good morning Frank,I have a 2015 Macan S that was built by my local dealer without roof rails or the tow package. I am looking at options outside of the ridiculously expensive Porsche OEM Hitch that needs to be installed by the dealer. Since you are a Macan owner I was hoping you could provide me with some feedback on the Curt13136 hitch. I was hoping to utilize this hitch to transport my road bike and possibly a 18 trailer. I was wondering how you handled the wiring since Porsche does not want to sell this outside of their OEM hitch solution. Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Frank S.

The wiring is available from Porsche now ! You will need a harness for the fuse box a control box and a harness to the trailer wiring, you will spend about $400 for the set up and will have it matched up to your car at the dealer, Then you can buy a plug that fits ur hitch wiring harness to match the 4 pin trailer plug Check the Macan Porsche site. I have heard they charge one hr @ 135 per hr,if you dont need the wiring right now I would wait for Curt to come out wit one later at a fraction of the cost. The dealer has a step by step install with photos on how to but u will need to capture the pics with your phone flash off.I may be doing this in a week or so ,if you get back next week will have all the pics and info u needA lot of money but I could have kicked the salesman for not telling me the factory install was a must @ $600,

Frank S.

It`s been fine i have installed the factory wiring and it works great but i spent $400 on parts and put the harness in but had to take it to the dealer to get it matched to the car.If anyone needs part I have them one is tricky.Frank

I must Say I am very impressed with the customer service that was provided. I made a mistake on my order, and was able to get in touch with customer service in a little less than 5 minutes to resolve my issue. The item was shipped really fast! I received it maybe 2 days after ordering (it helped that I live in the neighboring state) but nonetheless it was quick to arrive. The item looks solid and has a nice gloss paint scheme to it with no big decals which is nice. Installation was not very challenging, it took maybe 1.5 hours. Once installed the trailer looks amazing, it sits subtlety underneath the car which is a big plus. I went ahead and purchased a hitch as well and it all looks great together.

Great product and fit.

I don't know how to to change my oil, but I was able to install this hitch!

I watched the video a couple of times, and it seemed pretty straight forward. It took me over 2 hours, only because I was super careful and have never done any work on my car or know much about cars. You definitely need 2 people to perform this task since someone has to hold the hitch in place, while the other person aligns the rack, and screws on the nuts in place. When placing the hitch in, line up the pieces in the furthest away first, then line up the holes in the front where the u-bolts are supposed to go.

Tip: I didn't have a jack, nor did I really need one, but for more space to work with, I parked it over a curb to gain 6 inches of more space to work with.

I believe that the trickiest part is when you have to push the u-bolts into the hole, put the rack over the hole alignment, then pull on the fishing wire to pull out the u-bolts again so it goes through the rack. If you are too forceful with shoving the rack in, the u-bolts get wedged/jammed, and it becomes difficult to pull on the fishing wire.

2016 Audi Q5

The installation on 2016 TDI Q5 took about 90 minutes, mainly due to initial confusion with the plastic bra with no removable fascia. After some prodding and removal of the internal plastic element (had to be unglued to avoid breaking it into pieces), the hitch went into place in about 30 minutes, 20 more to properly put everything in place, screw it all down, and voila. The end effect is slightly different from a factory installed unit, but looks solid and reliable. We will see how it fares the Colorado weather and winter salt. The installation can be done in the driveway, with ramps, as long as you can find driveway with some elevation.

My next project is to get the wiring harness, and make it look like the factory provided one, running it through the bottom baggage compartment.

Shipping was quick, much quicker than expected, with no issues with the box, wrapping quality, etc. Some extra protection would be welcome as far as the hitch itself, just in case UPS does not handle it so gently.

The installation instructions (video) could be also done on a unit with no removable fascia to help people out. That would save me some initial pain of trying to work it out so that no plastic elements need to be trimmed down or cut.

by:

I must admit up-front that removing the bumper facia on my 2015 Audi Q5 was intimidating, however after watching the video [online] I felt confident that even I could complete this install.
The install was not too difficult but also not exactly like the video. You just need to see where the trex bolts are in the wheel well by feel.
The hitch is well hidden and looks like part of the original vehicle.

Overall I am very happy with the product and am proud to have drone it myself and not ruined my car! Thanks etrailer and Curt.

2011 Audi Q5

It is very good and of high quality. It took them quite sometime to work on my order and shipping too (almost 2 weeks) may be due to the pandemic but after I received it, I was really impressed. I followed the video and it took me 45 mins working on it by myself. I recommend it to anyone looking for a hitch like that. Good job guys.

Clean appearance when mounted. Quality part and hardware. Installation videos are excellent and detailed. My 2016 was the same as the 2014 video. 2016 video appears to be the 2017 model. Took me longer than estimated time with added waxing of bumper cover and polishing exhaust tips.

Great hitch. It fits perfectly well, giving a great sense of strong and safe support.
Now I feel my bike is travelling safe and comfortable.
It also looks great on the car. Really great product.
Now I´m getting another one for my new Mitsubishi Montero Sport

by:

Everything fit up good. The only problem is on the 2016 Porche Macon it is to far under the vehicle. I had to buy a extension which lowers the weight it can handle considerably.

by:

Fits perfect on 2013 Audi Q5 2.0T. Great instructions and arrived quickly. Bumper sensor clips a bit hard to get off, and torque for 1/2” bolts is too high on paper (I think said 110 but that snapped my bolt) but hitch is solid and installs very solidly.

by:

Simply put - it went perfect:
1. Ordering
- put in my car model, type and year - crazy simple.
2. Shipping - came sooner than expected, much sooner.
3. Arrived at 6:30 pm had it in by 8:30 pm
4. 2.5 days from order to completion... seriously, didn't expect that.
5. email notification - had video of install requirements - priceless.
6. Product and hardware - all there, great condition
7. Install just like video - fishing the u-bolts, that was a trick, but the tolerances of everything were spot on and worth the extra effort.
8. End product looks fantastic, just what I wanted.
9. Took some pics - just a couple. Enjoy

etrailer’s [online] videos on installation are absolutely priceless… It’s incredibly rare to get both a great product, price and exemplary service / support. Don’t waste your time looking elsewhere!

Pretty easy installation (about 2 hrs) after we had to reshape the frame due to damage in shipping. When it arrived by UPS, it was poking thru the box and the box had no packaging material inside it. That's why I only gave it a 4 star.

Install was made easy following the instructional video.

Perfect fit on my 2016 Audi Q5.

2015 Audi Q5

I just purchased a new 2015 Audi Q5. Audi's Q5 Hitch was prohibitively expensive therefore I went to etrailer. Erika was very helpful guiding me to this Curt Hitch.

I arranged prior to purchasing my Q5 that the Audi dealer would install the Curt hitch. When I picked the car back up today the Service Manager said that despite the video and directions, this was not installed in under an hour; rather it took his mechanic between 2-3 hours! So, if you are an amateur mechanic, be patient.....

.....anyway, the installed hitch is less obtrusive than I expected. Note: I removed all the stickers from the hitch with "Goof Off" which helped it blend in when not in use.

Put my Thule Aero Bike Rack on the hitch and it all worked perfectly.

I am very pleased with my purchase and service from etrailer.

Vehicles like your 2013 Audi Q5 that have a rear roof-level spoiler can pose a challenge to fitting a trunk-mount bike rack.
