What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're gonna be checking out the Gen Y Phantom X. It's gonna be an adjustable ball mount. You see the stacked receivers here. You're gonna be able to slide this out, put it in any of the receivers you need. That way you can quickly adjust the heights of your vehicle and different trailers and get on the road. Let's check it out.

Then we'll show you how easy it is to adjust the ball to whatever height you may need. Now it's in the drop position right now, and you just slide it into one of the stacked receivers, wherever you need that height adjustment. Goes right into place. Then you're gonna put your pin. I'll do it facing you, put the pin and clip back in.

Now their clips are a little different from the normal kind so you're gonna put it in through the side, a little bit easier to use. Push in and turn, that's in place. Something to note about the pin and clip though is it only comes with one, so you're gonna have to get a second one to put it into your hitch. Since you're gonna have to do that I would recommend go ahead and get an InfiniteRule locking hitch pin, just gonna make it all that much easier. It's gonna be the same pin style.

It just locks on the other side instead of the clip. So you're gonna have to lock this and then the one in the hitch. That way nobody can take the assembly or move the ball. With the Phantom X, this one's gonna have a six inch drop. So this is the ball in its slowest position.

You slide it out, flip it over. This would be the highest position, and that's gonna give you four and a half inches of rise. You're gonna have a gross tow weight rating of 7,000 pounds and you're gonna have a tongue weight rating of 700 pounds. You just keep that in mind with what you want to tow so you don't exceed it. The ball mount will be made of a black powder coated steel, so you're gonna not worry about it getting scratched, or corroding if you leave it in the back of your hitch all the time. It does look heavy duty. I do like that part. It's really easy to slide this into any of the receivers you need to to quickly adjust that height. You saw me do that earlier. It doesn't come with a ball so you will have to buy that separate. We have plenty of those on our website, so make sure you check those out. Now there are other options out there for adjustable ball mounts. One that comes to mind is the Tow & Stow, and that one will allow you to move the ball up and down on a track so you can't completely remove it from the receiver and it goes up and underneath the truck. So if you don't like the bulkier design of this and you're worried that if you leave this on the hitch all the time, you might run into it your shin or just not see it when you're walking behind the truck. That is also an option. Now, this is gonna work just fine, if you don't plan on leaving it on the hitch all the time. You can just take this out, throw it in the back of the truck and not worry about it. Overall, I do like the Phantom X ball mount. I like how easy it is to move the ball up and down and whatever receiver you need it to. That way you can quickly adjust that height for whatever different trailer and truck combination you may have. You might have just a couple different trailers and it's a lot easier just to move this up and down than it is to take this whole assembly out, get another one, put that into place. The only thing I would add to it is the locks I mentioned earlier. If I'm gonna invest in something heavy duty like this I wanna make sure it stays in my hitch and nobody can mess with the accessory either. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out.
