Speaker 1: Today on our 2008 Toyota Prius we'll be taking a look at and showing how to install the Rhino-Rack roof rack system. This is going to consist of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbars, part number RRVA126B-2, the Rhino-Rack 2500 Series legs, part number RRRLKVA, and the fit kit for our Prius, part number DK079. Keep in mind that our crossbars are also available in silver, part number RRVA126S-2.The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero crossbar system is a great solution for carrying your vehicle accessories on your roof, whether those are bike racks, cargo baskets, ski and snowboard carriers, or kayak carriers. The aerodynamic shape of bars along with the weather strip on the inside is going to help to reduce wind noise and drag. If we remove our end cap we can see that our weather strip is easy to remove. We can easily cut it down and put in channel-mounted accessories.
Our foot pack comes with a lockable cover to help prevent theft and tampering of your roof rack system. The fit kit is custom cut to our vehicle to give us a nice secure fit, and any portion that touches our vehicle is going to have a rubber coating to prevent any scratches or abrasions. It's easily protected by our lockable cover. The Rhino-Rack roof rack system has a 165 pound weight capacity, though you do want to double check your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure your roof can withstand that much weight. Now here everything on our table is what's included in our kit. Before we install it, we're just going to show you the pieces. We have our crossbar.
This will come in a count of two. We'll have our end caps. We'll get four of those, along with keys to lock those. The four foot packs that come with our kit. We'll have four clamps and four pads with our fit kit and four end caps for our crossbar, keys to lock that down, a tool to tighten everything.
Then the only thing we've provided ourselves is a flat tape measure. Now to begin our actual install we're going to remove our bolt here. We'll take our clamp, place that over the spot where we removed our bolt, and replace our bolt. We'll want to tighten this down just enough so that our clamp stays in place. Now we're ready to flip our foot pack over our. We can take the bottom portion off.
We're going to line up the arrows on the plastic part, as well as on our pad. Make sure that both of them are facing the same way. We'll close up any of the holes. Then we want to make sure that the arrow faces towards our clamp or to the outside of our foot pack. Now we can take our foot pack and slide it into place on our crossbar. Now with our kit you'll get these inserts that are actually measurements on here. We can use this to insert into our channel along the bottom and measure out the distance that we need. But for demonstration purposes we're just going to use our flat tape measure at this point, measuring out to 17.7 centimeters. We'll take our included tool and we're going to tighten down our bolt here. Now we can place on our end cap and take our included tool and lock that into place. We've gone ahead and opened up our vehicle doors. We're going to start by placing our crossbar in place so that our clamps sit around our door frame. Now we'll measure from the center of our front clamps to the center of our back. This is going to be our crossbar spread measurement at 70 centimeters. Again, we'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we can take our included tool and we're going to tighten down our bolt. I like to start by the tightening down my bolt so that our clamp sits just up against the door frame. Again we'll do the same thing to the other side. Now we'll know when our clamps are completely tightened down when our skinnier end of our torque tool is completely straight like you see here. To complete our install we'll place on our end cap for our foot pack, lock into place, and now we're ready to load up our gear and hit the road. That's going to be our completed look at the Rhino-Rack roof rack system on our 2008 Toyota Prius.

These heavy-duty, aluminum crossbars work with Rhino-Rack legs to create a sturdy roof rack. The square bars include built-in C-channels for mounting Rhino-Rack heavy-duty, contractor-grade accessories.Rock solid rack-much stronger than previous Yakima racks on previous vehicles. Fast shipping, arrived a day early. Great price! Nice youtube videos made assembly and installation easy. Already got it installed and took our canoe out-didn't budge.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Thanks to etrailer, I am ready to do some serious summer exploring with my 2013 Mazda 3! Rhino Racks, Malone top box, and Kuat bike rack!
The rack fit well and was easy to install. Seems to be made well. The problem is the amount of road noise. I never even put the basket on. It was so loud, it roared. I repositioned it several times but the noise was way too much and I finally just removed it. I spent a lot of money for the rack and the basket and now they are in storage. I wish it would have worked out better because I thought it looked really good.
After a year everything work great!
Yes i'm receiving the packed ,but i don't have time to put it on ,today i just put on my truck it look look so nice its looking greats ,i liked alot ,very cool with rhino rack ,recommand to everybody ,any way thanks you so much
love it, no problem and easy to install and take on and off, 47,000 miles on the highway and not a single issue. I even like the song the ladder hums to me driving down the interstate. This is my second Rhino and both have preformed to a high standard.
Ordered a Rhino Rack for my 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali. Rack arrived in very good shape and all items were there. Installing at this time and see no problems ahead.
As said on your web page, setting proposed on the dk are wrong. I estimate myself to fit the crewmax roof.
Rest looks ok. Pad fix are cheap but i will try soon.
Good quality and locks are included. The plastic lock covers are flimsy but they will keep an honest person honest.
Planned to get the Thule racks, but they were back ordered and could not be delivered before a planned trip that I needed the racks for. I called eTrailer to see if they had another recommendation and Cole could not have been more helpful. She walked me through the options and ultimately I bought the Rhino-Rack and could not be happier with the simplicity, the sturdiness and the overall quality. I've no doubt that the Thule's would have also been a great choice, but I saved around $100 and am completely satisfied.
Things went well. Customer service was great.
I got the roof rack mounted anyways. Better pics to come when it's all finished!
Fit perfect. Toyota Tundra Crew Max 2009
This kit is easy to slap on and sturdy enough to balance my skis and snowboards. I recently used the Rhino Rack on a three hour drive to a ski resort and had no issues.
I would definitely recommend this product. I researched a lot of options and these rhino racks are just as comparable to Yakima and Thule, with a much better price. Drove from California to Canada and back with 2 surfboards, no problem.
This is my second Rhino-Rack. They go on very easily and hold the bikes/kayaks and even an extension ladder very well....thanks for a great product
This rack works perfectly on my Nissan Versa for carrying my two Perception Sound 9'6" kayaks. The Rhino-Racks look good to me. The kayaks can rest directly on the rubber pads on the rails, unlike the Yakama racks I had in the past that had bare pipe rails. Also, I expect I can buy parts to adapt this product to a different car without having to buy new towers. I am sorry there are not hooks or loops to attach bungees when carrying lumber. They are noisy in the wind, but less so when carrying the kayaks.
Everything worked great. It let us mount our kayak rack on a prius
Two items I received surprised me when I unpacked the box were the rails because they were not black like I saw in the picture, and the rubber insert that I am having a hard time sliding in the rail. Should this rubber insert have come already installed in the rail or is there a top on how to put in with ease?
Product was as specified and of great quality. I use this product to haul 2 kayaks while pulling a travel trailer. It service this purpose extremely well.
there was some total confusion on what I wanted to order so I have to send back my whole order and pay for shipping not happy about that. I asked the question about what I wanted to order before I purchased and they got it all wrong.
This roof rack was very easy to install. It seems very sturdy on my can and I can't wait to get my kayaks on them. There was nothing missing and the directions were sport on.
Fast service and was everything I expec ted
