Curt EZr Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch Operation

Curt EZr Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Operation

The Curt EZr Double Lock underbed gooseneck trailer hitch provides a sturdy, secure connection for towing your gooseneck trailer and also allows for a clean, unobtrusive look for your truck bed when you aren't towing. To tow, simply pull the included handle out to unlock the hitch. Then insert the chrome-plated hitch ball into the ball hole. You may need to rotate the ball to line it up with the dual locking pins. When the ball drops into place, rotate the handle counterclockwise until the locking pins snap into position. Because there are 2 locking pins instead of 1, you get extra security for your towing setup.

Get full bed access when you're not towing. Just remove the ball, flip it upside down, drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch, and use the handle to lock the ball in place. A rubber cover is included with the EZr Double Lock. When the ball is stowed upside down in the hitch, place this cover over the ball hole to keep out dirt and grime and create a clean look for your vehicle.

Curt Center Locator Tool

Curt Center Locator for Double Lock Gooseneck Trailer Hitch

The innovative center locator tool included with this gooseneck trailer hitch is designed to make installation fast and easy by eliminating the need to measure where the ball hole must be cut into your truck bed. Once you have the custom installation kit in place and the gooseneck hitch is properly attached to the rails, the bright orange locator will help you to finish installation.

Curt Center Locator for Drilling Pilot Hole

Use the hole at the center of the locator to line up your 3/16" drill bit, and drill up from beneath the bed to create a pilot hole. This pilot hole will be your guide as you cut the 4" diameter ball hole into your truck bed.

Curt Center Locator for Drilling Ball Hole in Truck Bed

When you begin cutting through your bed, the locator will act as a trim shield, ensuring that you don't drill too deep. Continue cutting from the top of your truck bed until orange shavings appear. Once you see these shavings, you've gone far enough. The center locator can be easily removed from the hitch once installation is complete.

Seems heavy duty but the brackets hit the u-bolts and spring top plates. Curt told me I must of installed them wrong. I don't think so

I contacted Curt and they said that there is something different about your truck. I looked through our previous reviews on the matter and came across a similar situation as yours where the brackets hit the U-bolts. One of our experts said that the suspension may be worn and sitting lower than normal causing the issue. The customer then replied a year later saying that he installed air bags on his truck and the problem was resolved. I would check your suspension and see if this would be your solution as well.

Ive had curt goose neck hitch installed . Have to much play with ball one with ball bearing type. Can move it back & forth to much. Tried 3 balls same type all have play moves back &amp forth when towing. Put B&W hitch fits great no movement. Why cant I get just B&W ball with out buying kit

by:

hitch itself fit good, Didn't really like the mounting design though. Kit requires one big bolt and a u bolt "Are supplied" that holds it on truck. Seems it could be made more secure with better designed mounting brackets, but overall kit fit well and is working for what i need.

2002 Ford Edge

Installed on a 2002 Ford f250 short bed. this was very easy to install just as specified I chose to remove my 5inch exhaust to make for more room and easier install but it went in smooth and the exhaust went back in with around 1 inch of room to spare so not much modification.
The only problem that I have ran into is for some odd reason when I hook up our gooseneck trailer the tongue weight brings the suspension down enough that the side plates actually hit the u-bolt studs that hold the leaf springs to the axle. So idk what’s going on with that but not real happy about it I’m going to have to cut my u-bolts down some in order for it to be able to ride smoothly otherwise the bracket hits the u-bolts every time you hit a bump and it doesn’t sound pleasant at all. Not sure if it’s just this hitch or other ones that do it but the side plates have an edge that sticks out and it’s slamming off of the U-bolts.

I spoke with the folks at Curt, and they were wondering if your truck had the original suspension. If the suspension on the truck is worn, it will sit lower and could cause the issue you describe.

Update 1 year later: I did end up cutting the tops of the u bolts off in order to make clearance for the trailer weight it does fine now. After about two months of that I chose to install air bags on my truck and haven’t had a problem with it since. My only recommendation is oil the pins that lock the ball in place I have noticed over time just road debris and dirt getting in there and it can sometimes have a little resistance going back in with the ball facing down. Other than that good product I would purchase it again.

The instructions that come with are horrible. But you go on Curt’s website and they have a very well put together video. Everything went together smoothly and hitch performs great.

Box got a little hammered in delivery but didn’t damage any of the parts.

Install photos

by:

Install was straightforward and the hitch is working perfectly. I had my bed off when I installed, so the process was pretty simple. It would have been more difficult with the bed on, but that isn’t the fault of the hitch. The hitch has been reliable and sturdy, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Curt from eTrailer!

Installed on my 2006 F350. Haven't towed with it yet, but construction appears solid and well designed. Installation was easy, but took longer than the 90 minutes advertised for a novice.

by:

The trailer hitch was very well made and durable. It was delivered within two days. Unbelievable! The representative who assisted me was great. Price was right.

by:

Fair priced and arrived before the due date.

Accurate install directions, fantastic fit and operates perfectly for my 5th wheel RV

by:

Nice clean look. Most importantly didn't have to lower exhaust. centering the hitch in the bed was easy because of the template provided. Although install did take longer than what was noted, it was fairly simple. Would definitely purchase again.

by:

After receiving the parts that were missing from the original order, the hitch was finally installed today, it took more then the 3 hours the video implied,
I haven't pulled with it yet, but looking forward to it..
The company was very courteous, very helpful, shipped the missing part promptly.
I will do business with them again.

by:

Seems to be very well built. Shipping was very fast. Will definitely purchase other products.

by:

I installed this hitch on my 2021 Silverado 2500HD. When first looking under the truck it appeared the exhaust would have to be modified to make the unit fit. The fact is this unit went in without any modifications at all…even all the factory drilled holes lined up perfectly. I recommend this hitch to anyone that has a stock exhaust system.

by:

Great hitch and easy to use. I did have to lift up the bed a little bit to install it. Took me about 5 hours because of that but otherwise it is a great hitch. The rings for the safety chains stay on the bed and the ball flips over and stows away completely.

by:

Easy to install. 64 years old and did it all by myself. So glad I went with this style. Have gooseneck and fifth wheel ability. When I want my full bed there’s no rails in the way. Pulling 13,000-14,000 lb fifth wheel camper. No problems.

by:

Installed as easy as they said it would. Videos are very helpful. Works great!

by:

  • Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Adapter That Works With Curt EZr Double Lock Gooseneck Hitch
We have an option for you, though the Draw-Tite adapter you mentioned won't work with the Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60685. Instead, what you can use is a similar option from Demco: - Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 The Recon is a 5th wheel hitch that attaches directly to your Curt gooseneck ball, allowing you to easily and safely tow your fifth wheel trailer. The Recon is also really convenient because it comes in two...

If you have the EZr you can use the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter part # C16220 or if you have the Double Lock you can use the Curt X5 5th Wheel Base Rails Adapter part # C16210 but these are the only two options you have to use a fifth wheel hitch on a truck with Curt gooseneck...

  • Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2008 Ford F-350 With Curt Gooseneck Hitch
There are a couple of options which you can choose from which will allow you to pull a 5th wheel trailer with your 2008 Ford F-350, which I'll go over for you. The best option by far is the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045 because it gives you the security of a fifth wheel hitch with a strong jaw system while simply fitting on the gooseneck ball of the Curt EZr. It is both simple to use and strong, with a 21,000 lb towing capacity. I strongly recommend...

  • Will the Curt EZr Double Lock # C60685 and the Firestone # F2550 Fit a 1999 Ford F-250
Yes, the Curt EZr Double Lock Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # C60685 and the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2550 are compatible with each other. Since they mount on opposite sides of the frame they will both fit on your 1999 Ford F-250. You may also want to consider installing a standard duty compressor like the Firestone Air Command I # F2158 if you will be towing a few times a week. If you are towing more frequently than that I recommend going with a Heavy Duty option...

If you want to install your gooseneck hitch while your truck bed is removed on your 2001 Ford F-350, you can still do so since these hitches get attached to the frame itself and not the bed.
