Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The hitched arrived three days early and I was able to install it in less than 2 hrs with a little help from my wife and a floor jack. Perfect fit!! No shimms necessary Vwrry happy.

It was a perfect fit for my 2003 Silverado. It was difficult to get my travel trailer in and out of its parking spot and into the alley behind my house. My neighbor suggested this hitch and it makes the parking job MUCH easier. I have much better control and have full vision of my wife and trailer as she guides me in and out. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

2002 Chevrolet Silverado

The hitch installed easily on the front of my truck and has given me more versatility in using my truck. In the summer I carry 3 bikes on a hitch rack when I go camping. I also hook up a 12000 lb. winch when needed. Sometimes I use the front hitch when moving my boat. This is a very sturdy and reliable hitch. Etrailer customer service is excellent.

2007 Ford Excursion

Just received the hitch receiver today (no pun intended). Very easy, precise, 4 bolt assembly into the existing frame. Took about an hour to install for a non-mechanic like me. I really appreciate the versatility that I now have to put different attachments on the front of my truck. Note the ball and step in the pictures. Being lifted 6 inches, even I, at 6 ft 4 in. can't access the motor without the step. I plan to put a carrier on the front and carry a small motorcycle or bicycles when we are on our annual Arizona Snowbird excursion. In appreciate well built, well thought out and executed items.

The hitch receiver has proven very versatile. I have a lightweight snowplow attached to it. It works well. I would suggest using lock-tight on the bolts as they have a tendency to loosen up with all the snowplow-induced vibration.

by:
2004 Chevy 2500HD

This front hitch was extremely easy to install on my 2004 Chevy 2500HD. I was working by myself and using a floor jack.
If I would have followed direction and finger tighten the bolts and not tighten before all the bolts were started it would have been done in 20 minutes.

I would highly recommend this product!

I use it for my front mounted Meyers snowplow!!

2011 GMC Sierra

This product was installed on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD pickup. The install took me approximately 15-20 minutes using a floor jack and a battery operated impact driver. No modifications to the bumper fascia were needed, nor was it necessary to remove the factory tow hooks. Although it has not been tested, the build quality seems very well made and capable of performing my intended use, which is to mount a motorcycle carrier and dirtbike. The position of the receiver is rather low (approximately 11.5” from the floor on my stock truck with 265/75/16 BFG AT’s), which may make the approach on steep driveways/berms difficult with a motorcycle carrier mounted. A receiver hitch riser may alleviate this concern, however. Untested, I would opine that this tow hitch will more than meet its intended use for me and would strongly recommend this product for its build quality and ease of installation.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500

I purchased a front receiver for my 2001 GMC 2500 HD to accept a bike rack to haul my electric bike! I am a 68 year old man with rotor cuff tears in both shoulders & I installed it in my driveway in about an hour! The majority of the time was consumed removing the OEM tow hooks! Now that it on, I think I can replace the tow hooks and use those bolts on the receiver in place of the hardware provided with the hitch! I would recommend this product based on Quality & ease of installation! I hope this is informational!

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Draw-Tite front reciever for 02 to 06 Silverado.
Fit and finish are good. Lines up correctly so there is minimal persuasion required. As I recall getting the torque wrench in was a bit of a challenge . Supports my home built front spare tire mount just fine. Accepts my home built anti-rattle device. The set up seems quite sturdy.

by:
2003 Pontiac Trans Sport Van

Bolted on very easily. I did not have to make any modifications to my pickup at all. The only hard part is figuring out what receiver cover to get for when I'm not using it. I am mounting a cycle carrier to transport a scooter. We pull a high wall tent trailer for camping and I have a canopy on the pickup that the scooter will not fit into.

Great product easy installation!

by:
2002 Chevrolet Silverado

A solid hitch and super easy install. With the factory tow hooks, the install only required a 18mm socket and some of the hardware provided on my 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD ext cab.

by:
2003 Chevrolet Silverado

Exact fitment, easy to install. Did it in my driveway with basic tools in about an hour. Looks clean and didn't have to modify the lower fairing.

This is like the 6th hitch I have purchased from etrailer.com and I have never had an issue yet.

This front receiver is my mounting point for my snow sport plow and it will surely do the job. Very solid and robust. Now just need some winter.

A year later and still flawless. Pushed snow with ease. It has also held a bicycle rack and pushed a trailer around. It has been very good.

2000 Chevrolet Silverado

The Hitch was undamage. However the box is way to big, cardboard restrains pulled away from there connection points in the inside box and the hitch was lose in the big box.

by:

I received my hitch quickly and installed it in about 20 minutes with the help of my son and an impact gun. I am really happy with the ease of mounting and how unobtrusive it is. I have not put it to use yet, but plan to fabricate a kayak rack to go over my cab while I pull my fifth wheel. I will also probably use it to haul my dual sport motorcycle on trips without the kayaks.

by:

Ordering process was very easy, received emails letting me know it shipped (free shipping!) the same day, and received it in 2 days. Lots of helpful pictures and a video on how to install on the etrailer website- used a floor jack to lift and hold the receiver in place while I torqued the nuts down (it looks and feels well-made and heavier than I thought) - took about 10 minutes and looks and works great so far! I didn't need to remove or trim the lower valance. I immediately put it to work by having to pull a tree down that fell but got caught up in the branches of another tree - worked well and rock solid. Will be using this to hook up a personal (small) snow plow. Will buy from etrailer again.

by:

This is a great product. Was a perfect fit. This will make my camping and boating trips so much easier with the extra cargo sapce for the generator, extra propane tank and fuel canister. It also makes it easier for the to get under the hood with the step in front now. Thank You Etrailer!

2003 Chevrolet Silverado

This hitch is exactly what I wanted! Perfect fit, easy install (~1hr), no cutting, no drilling. I installed it on my 2003 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab 2500 HD. I will be using it to carry a bike rack with 4 bikes. Very solid piece of hardware. Some of the notes made me think I might have to remove my front tow hooks permanently, this is not the case. On my truck I just switched out the original bolts for the tow hooks with the bolts supplied with the hitch and reinstalled the tow hooks along with the new hitch all using the new bolts.

Great purchase experience! The website has great images and good access to installation documents. I felt very comfortable that my choice was correct (and it was). Shipping was very fast and it arrived in great condition. I will be coming back to etrailer. Great job!

by:
2001 Chevrolet Silverado

The receiver bolted right up without any alignment issues. The valance had to be cut, a jig saw works just fine. I pop riveted the loose ends to the flat plate that is welded to the receiver. This is perfect for my bike rack when using my camper, and for moving trailers into tight places. Great product.

by:
Chevrolet Silverado

I installed this front receiver onto my truck to help me push my trailer into a narrow parking spot alongside my home. I used to need assistance from a spotter to help me back the trailer in, but now I can push it from the front and park it without any help.

Thank you etrailer.com customer service for helping me choose the correct model for my Silverado 3500, and for the extremely fast shipping. I couldn't be more pleased!

by:
2002 Chevrolet Silverado

What a great product.
Everything that
was supposed to be there was in the box.
It was a little tricky to get the 2 inside bolts installed but I got it.
This hitch is strong, well painted and fit like a glove. I maybe could have installed one spacer washer but it would have been a fight.
The instruction page was a little faded so I emailed Carol and she sent a clear version right away.
Great company, Thanks, Gaylen

by:

Install was very easy. Fits very well. Can't wait to enjoy the added benefits of it.

by:
2003 Chevrolet Silverado

Front hitch was delivered on time, with easy to comprehend instructions, and took less than 10 minutes to install. I have already put a 2" ball in and used to move my boat in my small backyard. I couldn't be more pleased and only wished I had purchased it earlier!

by:

Product was made in Mexico but seems to be well made. The shipping dept. should wrap cardboard around the attachment points as both of mine were thru the box when it arrived and needed some touch up painting. Seems like an easy fix to get the product to the customer without any damage. Fits great on my truck. Fairing didn’t need modified but is very slightly flexed up in the middle. Would buy from trailer again without a second thought. Quick shipping, and great figment.

by:

Very nice, I did installed it in one hour but don't try to do it without a floor jack, to heavy for one person to lift it and start the screws.
worth the money and makes it easier to park a boat in a tight space.

Thanks

For your 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 3500 we have both the Curt # 31108 and the Draw-Tite # 65028 front mounted hitches that are confirmed to fit. Between these two options I recommend the Curt # 31108 because it's made right here in the USA. If you happen to be in the market for a front mount hitch so you can attach a snow plow, then you can also rest easy in knowing that Curt actually works with the major snow plow manufacturers to make sure their front receivers are at the appropriate...

I took a look at the installation instructions and capacities and they are as close to identical as you can get. I recommend going with the one that is the most cost effective. Our representative at Draw-Tite informed me that the easiest way to determine if you have a light or heavy-duty truck is to look at the lug nuts. If there are 6 lug nuts, you have a light-duty truck. This was not intentional, the manufacturers just so happened to come up with very similar designs for the hitch coincidentally.
