Video Transcript for Review of Reese Fifth Wheel Custom Installation Kit - Toyota Tundra - RP50084-58

Michael: Hi, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches. This kit is going to work for your 2007 through 2019 Toyota Tundra trucks. It's going to include everything you need to get your Fifth Wheel Hitch hooked up to your Toyota Tundra. The kit includes your custom brackets, your rails, and all your hardware. These custom brackets, they mount to the frame of your Tundra beneath the bed, and they provide the attachment points for your Fifth Wheel rails.

The rails sit inside the bed and they are what your Fifth Wheel Hitch attaches to. The nice thing about these custom brackets is that they use the existing holes in your Tundra's frame, so you're not going to have to do nearly as much drilling, which in turn is going to make the install a lot faster and could cut the install time down to about half of what you would get with your universal bracket systems. You are going to have to drill through your truck bed to make the attachments between your brackets and your rails, but that should be the only drilling that you really have to do. This kit is compatible with a lot of different types of Hitches. So, whether you have a Curt or Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese Valley or Husky Hitch, it's going to work great. There are a few Hitches that it will not work with, which would be the Reese Elite Series, Signature Series, or the Valley UBS Hitches.

The rails and the brackets are made out of a solid steel construction, and they have a nice black powder coat finish that's going to help them resist any rust and corrosion. Our rails are 43 inches long. They're going to be five and three fourths inches wide, and they're going to stick up about an inch and an eight. So, keep that in mind. This is a permanent installation, so you are going to have to live with these in the back of your truck. So, if you're doing things other than hauling your Fifth Wheel, and they might be cumbersome, might reduce some of the bed access you have, but they are going to work really well for pulling your Fifth Wheel Hitch.

They do come with a five-year limited warranty from Reese, and that's going to complete our look at the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit for your Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches..

VERY IMPRESSIVE Custom kit ! The RP50084-58 makes universal types a why bother option. I've done one and comparing the drill time saving and odd angling L straps you get with them, these meaty and made for, no guess work brackets are what makes this kit a no brainer. So pleased I chose it to haul our 30ftr. with my Tundra. Instructions are good and hardware is top notch. I'm 60 yrs. old and did it alone in my driveway if that helps anyone's decision LOL! Love your products and your company etrailer

How’s it working out? It’s still out working! checked nuts after a couple trips, undercoated everything. No issues

by:

The Quick Install Installation Kit made installation of the 5th wheel hitch in my 2014 Tundra fairly easy. (It's still work, but makes it possible for someone with mechanical ability to get it done) I would highly recommend the kit as well as etrailer.

Note: I did not need to remove my rear air bags as claimed by etrailer. The air bags and hitch worked together just fine.

by:

Works very well

by:

the best part of this kit was the brackets fit my truck perfectly . A template to lay in the bed for rail hole configuration would have been a great help . the big reason I rated this a 3 star is I live in the country and had to drive 30 miles to get the correct bolts needed to mount the rails { the kit was missing 8 carriage bolts , lock nuts and washers }

by:
2019 Toyota Tundra

This was our 2nd rail installation. The first was just a rail kit for a a toyota tundra. The second was a "specific custom rail kit" for our new 2019 Toyota Tundra. Well worth the money. It installed easily with no frame drilling. Order a custom rail kit for your truck, you will not regret it.

by:

Well made product. Custom fit means only drilling is in the truck bed. The rear most bolts on the front and rear rail are a major pita to get to. All 4 are basically hidden between the frame and bed. Defiantly a 2 person job. Only option on tightening is an open end wrench and lots of cramps from being a contortionist trying to find them. Overall I would buy again, but let someone else install??

by:

no instructions was able to download from website they where fairly clear
but there is room for some improvment I have done mechanical work most of my life Iam 67 so i try to be fair in my evaluation this is a good product would buy again

by:

Custom rail kit was great. Directions are really good and easy to follow. Bracket pieces are very heavy duty. Was happy with everything other than they use UPS and it’s always a delayed delivery in our area now with the Covid thing it gives them a excuse to have late deliveries non-stop! Was Two days late! Excellent Product! Excellent Company!

Rails came in poor packaging missing parts that fell out through the holes. That said, the rest of the product was good, and installed as expected…after replacing the missing hardware

Product arrived in the scheduled time and was relatively easy to install with some minor difficulties due to Toyota tundra chassis.
All in all very happy with the product and Etrailer.
Would not hesitate to order from them again.

Got product very quick, all parts there, directions very good, very happy with my product and etrailer.com...

by:

I started to install myself but ran into a problem. So then went to a place to have installed. Only costed me $700. to have installed the installer was amazed with it. He said it was a lot more easy compared to the company’s.

by:

Shipped out fast and arrived exactly as described.

by:

the product was very good and high-quality the directions not so much thay where someone confusing it took me a lot longer than I thought it would probably 8 hours

by:

Haven't installed yet but appears as quality equipment, very helpful when ordering, confirmed I was ordering the right equipment, order was placed on Monday AM and received Wednesday afternoon in South Alabama.

  • Frame Brackets for Reese 5th Wheel Install Kit on 2021 Toyota Tundra
Assuming that the bed rails you have are from Reese, you'd need the # RP50084 frame brackets. (You want to ensure that the frame brackets and bed rails are from the same manufacturer). You'd also want to go with the # RP58504 bolt kit to fasten the bed rails to the frame brackets. The existing hardware for your bed rails isn't meant to be torqued multiple times, so it's recommended that new hardware be used. Also, keep in mind that unless your truck has the 8 foot bed, you likely won't...

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2012 Toyota Tundra with Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Kit
We have suspension enhancement that is compatible with your 2012 Toyota Tundra that is also compatible with an in-bed hitch like the Reese rail kit you mentioned part # RP50084-58 but none of the air bag styles will work. Instead you'll need to go with a Timbren kit like the part # TTORTUN4 which will fit and work well. The wedge you'll then want to use with the Titan hitch part # RP30867 that you have is the part # RP30865.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit For 2021 Toyota Tundra With 5-1/2' Bed
I would be happy to help! For your 2021 Toyota Tundra with the 5-1/2' bed there are two options for a 5th wheel hitch, a sliding hitch designed for super short bed trucks, or a rotating pin box on your trailer to give the additional turning clearance and a fixed hitch. if your trailer does not already have a rotating pin box I recommend going with the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 13,000 lbs # DM8550040 which is designed for trucks...

For your 2016 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 foot bed, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50084-58 which is a custom fit for your truck. Then I recommend the Reese Select Plus 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs # RP30928. This will be used with a Reese Sidewinder pin box because that is the only pin box fit with the 5-1/2 foot bed along with a fixed hitch similar to that listed above. This will create...

The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 would be a fit for your 2017 Toyota Tundra along with the appropriate base rail kit # RP50084-58. If you have a 5-1/2' bed then you'll need to have a rotating pin box on the trailer in order to have enough turning clearance so that the nose of the trailer doesn't come into contact with the cab of the Tundra. You'd also need an appropriate wedge kit to lock the king pin of said rotating pin box in place. If you don't have a rotating pin box the...

  • Is There an Underbed 5th Wheel Hitch Kit for a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 5.5' Bed
I do have an option for you but there are no underbed fifth wheel mounting kits for a 2008 Toyota Tundra. I recommend using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50084-58 which is a custom fit that works with industry standard hitches. Then for a fifth wheel hitch, I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550040. This will be the only option without changing out the pin box on the trailer for a rotating option because of the bed length.

From what I can gather it sounds like you just need the 5th wheel base rails and install kit for your 2007 Toyota Tundra to mount your 5th wheel hitch, though I'm not familiar with the "Highup attachment" you were referring to. To mount your hitch there are two options, a universal install kit and a custom install kit. For your 2016 Toyota Tundra with a 6-1/2 foot bed the slider hitch I would recommend is the Demco Hijacker AutoSlide # DM8550034 because it will automatically slide back as you make tight turns which mean you'll never have to remember to activate the slider, or have to get out of the truck and manually operate a manual slider. Now for a rail kit the best option is a custom fit kit like the part # RP50084-58 which is custom fit for your truck so it will minimize drilling and install time...

  • Can a 2008 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 Foot Bed Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer
I do have a great solution for you but first a little background information. A slider hitch is not going to work on a truck with a bed shorter than 6 feet long. The issue is that the slider will not offer enough travel for you to be able to make tight turns without hitting the truck and trailer together. You would also have to remove the truck tailgate to even slide the hitch back. The first thing you are going to need for your 2008 Toyota Tundra 5-1/2 foot bed is an installation kit....
