    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear tire mud flap on the passenger's side.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Plugs in very simply and does what it's supposed to do.

Wow, I have never had a simpler installation! The quality is great, and in just plugs straight in. Finished the job with the Hopkins Fold Over Mount. Super happy with the final install.

by:

Thanks for the wiring harness, it was an easy install, plug and route the wiring to the trailer hitch. Sure beats cutting and splicing into the vehicle harness, chasing the wires for identification etc.! Simple instruction included with the location of the plugs to interface with. Best trailer hitch wiring I 've done in 20 years.

I am an electrical contractor by trade so makings splices is not an issue. I am so glad I purchased this trailer wiring harness, unplug one plug and you are in business and did not have to tamper with the existing wiring harness of my jeep. I taped in a magnet to the wiring harness so when not in use I could Tuck it in behind the bumper.

by:
2001 Jeep Wrangler

This is the only way to hook up to your vehicle's wiring harness, quicker too.

by:

Very easy to install just connect to the taillight harness and attach the ground wire, 10 minute job. This harness will save you the time and aggravation of a splice in harness.

1998 Jeep Wrangler

‘98 Jeep Wrangler, absolutely plug and play, very simple installation. Pull down the cover behind the rear passenger tire, reach up inside the body to find the factory harness, unplug the connector and plug the new harness into it. Put the cover back over the opening. Did need a drill to run in the new grounding wire but they even supplied the self tapping screw for that. Great product!

by: 05/20/2022

  • Which Trailer Wiring Harness To Use On A 2000 Jeep TJ Wrangler Sport
Both the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness # 118409 and the Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Wiring Harness # 42615 will work on your 2000 Jeep TJ Wrangler Sport. The difference is what you mentioned, how they install to the vehicle. The Tow Ready harness uses T-One connectors that will plug into connectors on each side of the vehicle. The connectors are located under the Jeep, behind the rear bumper. The white ground wire will need to be attached to a good, clean ground on the vehicles metal frame. The...

  • Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation for a 1999 jeep Wrangler
Basically, there are 2 different ways on which you can install trailer wiring on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler. The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118409, plugs in line with the wiring behind the vehicle tail lights. Installation may take a little longer than the other harness but these types of connections are popular and work well. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation for you. The Hopkins Harness, # 42615, plugs into a connector...

  • Troubleshooting 7-Way Connector on Motorhome When Lights Don't Work On Towed 1997 Jeep Wrangler
It does sound like there may be a problem with the wiring of the RV connector as you mentioned. Especially since you said it works fine when the Jeep is connected to another vehicle. You may want to also check the fuses on the motorhome to make sure they are not blown and causing the issue. I have attached a helpful article that shows 7-way connectors and how they are typically wired. You will want to make sure you test the pins on the motorhome connector and they match exactly to the...

  • Right Side Trailer Lights Go Dim With Brakes Applied
This is a tell tale sign of a ground issue. I recommend you check that the new light assembly you just installed has a proper ground. In order to do this you would need to remove the light or ground wire and then sand down the mounting point with some sandpaper. You can then reattach with new hardware. If this does not fix your problem please let me know and I would be glad to offer further troubleshooting advice.

  • Is It Normal For Battery In 2018 Jeep Cherokee To Get Drained While Being Flat Towed?
On your 2018 Jeep Cherokee the battery is going to be getting drained as the battery is not disconnected and no fuses are pulled to flat tow your vehicle, so your harness is installed correctly. To keep the battery from getting drained you will need to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 and Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75. This charge line takes power from your towed vehicles battery and sends it to the battery on...

The recreational towing section of the owner's manual for your 2017 Jeep Cherokee states that using the wiring kit for this particular vehicle is indeed necessary. They go on to caution that "Failure to use the proper Mopar wiring kit to power the steering system during recreational towing may damage the vehicle’s steering system and/or other vehicle components." This being said, my research has seems to contradict this. I've found a Mopar tech bulletin (08-022-16) that states that the...

  • Wiring to Flat Tow a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Behind an RV
A wiring harness that is used to power lights on a trailer cannot be used in reverse to power the lights on the vehicle when it is being flat towed. This is unless it is a specially made harness designed for this purpose. There are numerous wiring kits available for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler, see link. The easiest to install that does not require cutting and splicing wires is the Hopkins wiring kit, # HM56200. It will just plug in line with the vehicle tail lights and it has a 4-Way to connect...

Yes the 2015 Jeep Cherokee does require the Mopar flat towing harness part number 68321424AB to prevent the steering wobble issue and would be needed. In later versions of the vehicle the harness was no longer needed but for the 2015 the harness was still needed.

I have included a link to the wiring harnesses for flat towing the Jeep. There isn't a plug and play type of harness for this particular vehicle. • What Circuit of the Roadmaster RM-155 Does the Brown Wire Run to
The issue is the way you wired up the brown wire. This needs to run to the running light circuit of your vehicle. This is the circuit that activates the dimmer illumination of the trailer lights you have on your vehicle. It would not run to both the brake and turn signal circuit like you mentioned. I attached a link to an install video for the # RM-155 being installed on a similar Liberty as yours.

Although Jeep corrected the problem beginning with the 2019 model, the 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk will indeed need the Mopar 68321424AB flat tow wiring kit to activate the electronic power steering system while the vehicle is in tow mode. It sounds like you may not have anything setup on your Jeep yet, so I recommend using the Heavy-Duty Magnetic Tow Light Set - Incandescent - 30' Harness # 337TL257M since it is a completely wireless system that plugs into a 4-way connector on your RV. Yes, the Hopkins plug-in wiring harness # 42615 would work well on your 2000 Jeep Wrangler, and give you the required 4-Way plug to connect to your trailer. This wiring harness is connected underneath the vehicle, on the passenger's side, behind the rear tire mud flap.
