Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at Coghlan's Camping Shovel with Pick. If you're looking for a compact shovel with an integrated pick for camping, backpacking, or just working out in your garden, this might be just what you need. This shovel is great for making fire pits, digging small trenches, working in the garden and more. The overall length of this shovel from end to end is sixteen inches long and the shovel blade itself is five inches long and three and three quarters inches wide. And this pick that we'll be looking at here just a little bit later, this is about four and a quarter inches long the pick itself and about an inch wide.
Now this collar that you see here locks the shovel blade and the pick into place. And so let me just give you a brief demonstration of how this works. And so you just loosen it up as you see, and then you can lock this shovel blade at a 90 degree angle. And so you can use the shovel blade kind of like a garden hoe or something like that and that's gonna be locked into place. And so then you would just loosen it up again and then you can, if you would like bring that pick up and lock that into place as well.
And so you could lock both of these tools at a 90 degree angle and they'd both be available for use. And that pick could be used, especially at this angle for loosening up the ground, getting some rocks out of the way, or maybe getting some roots out of your way. And if you loosen it up again you can fold that shovel blade out of the way towards the handle and then lock the pick into place in this direction if you wanted to use it this way. So you got multiple ways in which you can use the shovel blade and the pick. And when you have the shovel blade folded towards the handle or the pick that can get in the way of the grip, so just be aware of that.
I notice that when I had the pick folded all the way up and I had the shovel blade fully extended, if I have my hand on that grip closest to the shovel blade that pick could potentially poke you in the finger. So it makes it a little bit uncomfortable, but just be aware of that as you're considering this shovel. The shovel blade and the pick are constructed from tempered steel so it is durable. The handle itself is metal and it has these plastic grips to help you make sure that you've got a firm grip on this. And let me go ahead and collapse both of these tools and then I'm gonna go ahead and just lock them into place.
And once I have both of these tools locked in the folded position, you can then unscrew the handle and this is gonna be great for compact storage. So now I have two pieces and it includes this black corydora carrying pouch for compact storage. It also has a belt loop on there so you can run your belt through there if you so desire. So I'm just gonna go ahead and put these pieces in and so that's a great way to store it. Like I said, you can carry it on your belt or throw that in your pack and you're gonna have everything together in a nice, portable, compact, convenient package. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
