Brad Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.
Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.
This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.

Love that it is mostly plug and play. 4Runner is already wired for a brake controller and the cable I ordered made it simple to just plug it in. I didn’t get the custom switch blank for the 4 runner so I had to modify the existing one and that was a lot of work. Would order blank if doing again. Install was pretty easy. Haven’t towed a trailer yet so not sure how well it works. Looks like factory item after installed.
I watched the stock video for installation on a Tundra, and it was perfect.

Watched the video that demonstrated how to install the Redarc brake controller in my 4Runner. SIMPLE with the plug and play harness I ordered through you folks. In spite of it being shipped from the states to Canada, it got here in a very acceptable time frame. I believe I'll do the install tomorrow. Thanks ... BRW

Still working like a factory option. Highly recommend for an easy brake controller installation,
After a year of owning and pulling a camper it has been flawless. Easy install. I will say do your research on the best way to set it up for your vehicle. I drove on dirt roads around 5mph and adjusted it until I was right on the edge of skidding the trailer by pressing on the controller.
This part fits my 2018 Lexus GX460. Install was simple.

This thing works so good. I actually went and bought a second one for the motorhome and replaced. It was one of these. This is the only one I’m buying from now on.
Toyota apparently thinks if you really want a brake controller in a 4Runner, you are going to have to work for it. The wiring harness was perfect once I found the Toyota connector plug.
Worked flawlessly. Everything was plug and play, had the kit installed in less than an hour. I would highly recommend etrailer to those looking for towing/trailer accessories.
Stay away from this company. Get what you need from another company. They won’t do anything to help you.

the part fit as it should the lookup was correct for my truck the first time .
After 9 camping trips with my trailer, the brake system is working well.
The installation is super simple with its multi-directional mounting system. Great!
This wire connecter fit perfectly and made it so there are no splices in my brake controller installation. The connector on my wire harness was tough to get to because it was pretty high up in the dashboard, but otherwise, installation was a snap... and a snap.
Works great. Easy to install. Would recommend. 2019 4Runner.
