Video Transcript for Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric Leveling System Replacement Control Module Review

Hi, John with etrailer. Chances are if you're watching this video you're having issues with your main control board for your Lippert Ground Control 3.0. Either the 4 point system or the 6 point system. We sell both of the boards here for those systems. Now, before we go and just make a sale and you buy a part that you may or may not need I wanna go over a few tips for you and let you know, number one, where is it located Number two, what could be causing some of the problems that you're having. So let's find out where it is first.

Now the control board needs to be installed in a dry location and it also needs to be installed as far forward on your camper as possible. So I'm gonna say 8 times out of 10 it's gonna be located in a compartment. Here, we've got our landing gear right here. If you take a look up and over, like on this camper here, chances are your control board's gonna be mounted to the ceiling. So this is our control board mounted on the ceiling in the nose of our camper here.

While you're here, one of the things you need to check make sure that that board is secured to the plywood and it's not loose at all. These things need to be secure. They are very, very sensitive. So to find center on your camper they can't just be hanging one way or another. So physically touch your board and see if it's loose at all.

Also, check the connections and check your fuses and make sure that those are okay as well. Now these systems also have a 50 amp circuit breaker that you would want to check, and that's here. Somewhere on these breakers you'll see the rated output for 'em. So it should, this system should be on a 50 amp breaker. You'll see other breakers here for the camper.

These are 30's and you can't tell just by looking at 'em, you'll have to read and it'll be printed somewhere on one of the sides of the breaker. So check that, make sure your breaker's okay, and also check make sure your ground is okay. Now, I will say that most of the problems that we encounter with these systems are due to the batteries. You gotta keep in mind that these systems are all electric, which means you're gonna have six electric motors running sometimes simultaneously but most of the time it's two at a time. You really need to have a good battery. I really recommend two batteries for this application. It's something where once the voltage starts getting low you kind of get a gremlin action with the controllers and they need a certain amount of voltage to work properly. So 9 times out of 10, if you're having weird issues that has come up every once in a while it could be battery related. So I'm not telling you to go buy a new battery but maybe if you can source one either from a car or your boat, try a new battery or a different battery and see if that solves some of your problems. Now, if your issue is a leveling issue where you hit auto level and your camper is not level you can always reset your zero point calibration. If you didn't do it in the beginning chances are it was done for you from the factory but you can redo it and I can show you how real quick here. Now, regardless if you have the 4 point or 6 point system, this is gonna be the same to reset your zero point calibration. My display is not gonna be on right here, but just know we'll be hitting the power button to turn it on. You wanna manually lower your front and rear jacks. Basically, you wanna level your camper manually. A good way to do that is to get a level and put it in the center of your camper and first level front to rear. So you would lower your front landing gear down, lower the rear landing gear down and double check your level and make sure you know, you make small adjustments until it's level. Then turn your level sideways. Then you wanna level left to right. Again, you can just hit left and right on the control panel until you're level both front to back and left to right. Once your camper's level now with the touch pad off, you'll press and release the front button five times, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and you're gonna press and release the rear button five times 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. This touch pad is gonna flash and beep and it will read zero point calibration, enter to set, power to exit. If you know that your camper is already level, hit enter and the display will read zero point stability check. And once it's gone through its little cycle it'll say zero point set successfully. At this stage your zero point calibration would've been reset. Now another common problem, especially on the 6 jack system, such as the one that we have here is you're gonna have an out of stroke error. Basically, that means the jack was too high off the ground probably because of un-level terrain either left or right or front to back, and the jack came down and it simply just ran out of stroke. It couldn't push down anymore. And so you're gonna get all sorts of weird errors either high amp errors or out of stroke errors. So something to keep in mind, and it really is for the 4 jacks too, make sure that you have these blocked properly. These jacks should be somewhere around 7 inches off the ground for maximum effectiveness, but even at 7 inches off the ground, if you're off on an incline either front to back or left or right, they're gonna have to overcome that to try to level your camper out. So make sure that you have the equipment necessary to block and brace these jacks. We have these available, check out our website. So that's some of the main pointers that you can look at. If you've checked everything else out and it just comes to the reality that you may need a new control board, well don't worry. If you can access your board like ours here then you can replace your board. The connectors do unclip fairly easily. And if all the power is already run and everything then you can simply unscrew the board from the plywood and put the new one up, secure it back down, and hook everything back up. And hopefully that works for you. So hopefully some of these tips help you out and you don't actually need a control board, but if you do just know that we have them here in stock. They're genuine Lippert components. And if you have the 3.0, if you have problems with anything else, such as the landing gear, the feet, or the mid jacks and rear jacks we have those parts in stock here for you too.

I have a Covid trailer and the Lippert Jack Controller module went out after 2 years. After getting great customer service with etrailer, due to Lippert changing part numbers, I was able to purchase the exact replacement. Installed it in 15 minutes, retracted and then leveled the trailer, followed the instruction to set the new Zero Point level (which took longer than swapping out the controller) and it it worked perfectly. I ordered it and had it the next day too because they had it in stock! Which my neighbors appreciated, since I couldn't move my trailer because the jacks were down and it was stuck ifo my house. Thanks etrailer for coming to the rescue!

Easy install, *The hardest part was getting into the narrow part of my pass through.* The leveling works better than it has since we bought the unit a year or so ago. (2016 Jayco 339 flqrs). We had to replace both the control pad and this control box. Now it all works the way it should.

Adam did a great job of getting this board out to me the same day I spoke with him. I needed it since we already had camping reservations in place , and my unit was allowing 7.5 volts to the touch pad (green wire) instead of zero . My touchpad would not come on. Etrailer had it in stock whereas lippert would have been a few days out. It would be nice if Etrailer still had military discounts , or senior, because their price was a good bit higher .
But it came in two days , it’s installed , and sitting very level . Thanks Adam

Control module was an exact match. Easy to install. Amy answered all my question before I ordered.

Plug and play replacement for my 2020.5 Grand Design 31MB. Had to turn the battery disconnect off and on to get all devices to re-sync once this new computer was installed. Then had to set the zero point before full features like auto leveling and from keypad began working normally. Pretty easy. Install itself took only 15 minutes.

by:

Sales person very helpful. Parts shipped the same day! Great service!

Replaced defective unit with this one from eTrailer and, whoopee, everything works again. Easy job to replace. Talking to ICI gave no clue as to why the old one failed. It was about three years old and trailer had not been used much due to couple years of health problems. Worked last summer/fall then put away in storage and when went to hook up few days ago it was dead. ICI rep was wonderful in helping diagnose the problem. Korren at eTrailer was fantastic in arranging overnight delivery. Ordered Wednesday afternoon and unit was here Thursday late morning.

Still working like a champ!

by:

Just finished installing it and it work great.
Thanks

by:

Easy to install, had to download instructions for initial set-up but that was no big deal. So far its working as it should. The unit is a little different from the original (Lower amperage fuses) but maybe that's a good thing.
Original problem was a COMM error.

very helpful; save our vacation; thanks a lot. Dan

We had arrived to our campsite when the control module for our auto leveling electric jacks went out. I called trailer and was able to get a replacement shipped to me. Rachel B. was incredibly helpful and was able to get the item shipped a day early. I ordered the item on a Tuesday and it arrive in California on Thursday. I fixed the jacks and it's been good so far. The repacement module is slightly different. The biggest difference is in the way it connects to power. The old module has a post for positive and negative wires from the trailer batteries. The new module simply has wires requiring you to snip off the original connections and, using wire nuts, connect the new module to the trailer. E trailer has always been great and I will continue to be a very happy return customer.

by:

It was the right part I needed. It works perfectly. People just be careful about what you’re shoving in your underbelly. Previous owner broke the board for the leveling system because they shoved something up against it and one jack wouldn’t work. Cost me $178.00 to find out.
I’ll definitely be back to etrailer if I need parts for my 5th wheel.

by:

Everyone at etrailer has been very helpful and responsive to any questions. The only problem I had was not the fault of Etrailer but UPS. The box the product came in was extremely damaged and retaped and packaged in a haphazard way. Fortunately the product was not damaged. I have had problems with UPS delivery in the past.

by:

Purchased this item to convert the 6-point system I ordered to a 4-point system since the distance from the front landing jack to the rear jack is 14 feet. The controller works great.

by:

Part came and was on time...Amy from ETRAILER was awesome to work with and it was a great experience... will definitely use in future

by:

Service was excellent and we received the part in two days! Thank You Very Much

by:

Pricy, but was an exact match and worked like a charm, easy swap out. 4 stars only because of price.

by:

Item was great but it was the wrong one thanks for trying

If you went through the recalibration process on your Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System w Touchpad and Remote - 6-Point Set # LC675817 and the middle legs still aren't properly activating then I would first check that they have 12v DC power running to them with a multimeter # PT89ZR.
