I tried them on; and they fit well. I'll be ready for my subdivision's icy conditions next time. Thanks for the rapid service, and here are some photos from the test today; though you may not want to use the tension photo, because the clips should have been rotated to the next section

by:

These are real heavy duty adjusters. Unless you have 12 to maybe 14 inch wheels, go with the 16-20 inch size. I installed them on a 16 inch Dodge Dakota wheel and the rubber is very difficult to stretch across the wheel, let alone make the other three attachments.

I really like the chains, they are so much easier and lighter than thechains of my younger years. However, I still feel the same about theadjusters. They are much too small andor not flexible enough, making itvery difficult to stretch them, even just across the wheel. My wife wouldnever be able put them on should the need arise. I suggest you find adifferent supplier for that product or a different brand.

by:

These worked very well for the chains that I bought last year. I drive a 1998 4Runner Limited with 16" rims. It took a little bit of practice centering the chains on the tire so definitely do so before you get a bunch of snow. If it seems like this tensioner is too tight, doublecheck that the chains are positioned on the tire correctly and not too far in toward the wheel well.

by:

Bought this product to replace bungee cords to keep my snow chains tight. They work great. The tensioners fit easily inside my chain bag so every thing is kept together. Great product, I recommended them to a couple of my buddies.

by:

Went to new style chains. Too difficult to put on when it's snowing and not ideal conditions (like a nice dry garage or driveway). the tensioners are to stiff in the winter and my wife cannot install correctly. Would not recommend the chains OR the tensioners.

by:

I ordered three sets of chains. One for my van, one for my small truck and one for my big truck. The chains with the cams are very nice and easier to deal with. Don't buy the rubber rings with hooks that is used to keep the chain centered, it is cheap and will not last the winter. Buy the short rubber straps at any hardware, they work perfectly. These are adequate chains for moderate use.

by:

All items arrived in good condition and all were as described and were as
expected.

The items, three sets of tire chains and three sets of chain tighteners were
inspected, but as of this date none of the items have been installed or
placed in service. The products all appear to be of good quality and should
perform as expected when used.

At this time, I rate the order response time as excellent and all items were
shipped quickly and arrived in good condition and if they do not prove to
perform well I will quickly respond with a follow-up review to indicate any
deficiencies.

Will look forward to doing additional business with etrailer.com.

by:

These are an absolute necessity for tire chain applications whether you use traditional chain-link, or cable chains for your vehicle. Excellent quality rubber with great steel hook construction makes these a terrific addition to your winter weather gear for your automobile.

by:

I appreciate that you/your company does follow ups to purchases after a year. I think that is great. That being said, since ordering the tire cables/chains, it has not snowed enough to use them! I have saved this email and promise to review them once we actually get to use them. Thanks again!!

by:

If your chains do not come with built in tensioners, this product is an absolute must have. Mine were easy to attach and held perfectly through a lot of miles in heavy snow. If they are cleaned with soapy water after the season is over, they should last for several years. An excellent product!

by:

Having just tried out this chain tightener for fit, I can attest that it does what it's supposed to do. The hooks were loose on the rubber and easily fell off (thus, 4 stars), so I gently squeezed them a bit in a vice, just enough that they no longer fall off of said rubber "doughnut" when being handled. It was relatively warm when I tested them for fit (30 degrees F.). I suspect that this "rubber band" will be somewhat harder to stretch in colder weather.

by:

BOUGHT CHAINS FOR WINTER TRAVEL: THEY DID A GREAT JOB IN KEEPING SNOW AWAY FROM MID-MISSOURI LAST WINTER. I "SHOVELED" ONLY 4 INCHES ALL YEAR. LATE OCTOBER TRIP TO ESTES PARK; THEY KEPT THE BAD WEATHER AWAY ALSO. THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN SNOW. I ONLY WISH THEY WOULD ALLOW FOR COOLER WEATHER IN MISSOURI IN AUGUST AND NOW IN SEPT & NOVE. I WILL HAVE TO SEE IF THEY CONTINUE TO "WORK" AT KEEPING THE SNOW AT BAY FOR THE WINTER OF 2016-17. YOUR PRODUCTS ARE GREAT AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVEN BETTER! !

by:

Perfect Fit for my 94 Dodge Ram 2500. I put them on and left them on all winter but never went anywhere. Put them on just in case I needed to use my old truck during the brutal Wyoming winter. This truck only has 92K miles on it! The milage is so low because I never go anywhere in this old truck.

by:

Received 2 sets of 12" rubber chain spreaders and they were of the highest quality I've ever seen. I was more than satisfied with the product. I live in Pittsburgh, PA, called your location in St. Louis late Friday afternoon, and the product was delivered the following Tuesday. The person I spoke to in St. Louis was a pleasure to deal with and had an excellent knowledge of the product that I ordered. I would highly recommend your company and would deal with you people again without hesitation. Thank you.

by:

Fortunately I didn't have to use it. I purchased it just in case it became necessary to put the chains on when we went through the Rockies.
Looks well made, and glad to have purchased them.
Just noticed below though, that your instructions pdf links are both dead.
Would have been nice to stick a copy of both of them in the bag for future use.

by:

I bought a set of chains and tire chain tightners, but haven't gone North yet, live in Atlanta, so I haven't used either. But I do have to say your ordering and follow up are the greatest. Was never too busy to answer my questions, ands nevere put on hold or got some computor generatyed answer..the products look great, much different and definetly much lighter than the chains I used when living in Pa. Thank you all for your help and thoughtfulness.

by:

The quality of the Rubber adjuster looks good but unfortunately the ones that were recommended for my tire/rim size are way to small. I pulled so hard to install them I nearly broke the rubber and that was on a 60 degree day and still couldn't get more than 2 hooks attached.
Other than that they should work great for the right application.

by:

Tire chain tensioners, could only find online. Very satisfied with product. Thank you.

by:

Haven't had to use the snow cables as of yet. However the courtesy of your phone sales order rep.was very good.Your website was very good, including the details of the product & info.video on installation was very good.I received the cables in the time as I was told by rep.very prompt.UPS service. So far very good service, good company.

by:

Excellent product and excellent service - the snow chains arrived on time and appear to be in excellent condition.

by:

Great product. Excellent service and easy to order. I got 2 pair for the glacier cable chains I purchased. They are a must have, and pretty easy to install. Perfect fit. Makes those chains nice and tight. Very happy customer.

by:

Good alternate to the old fashioned tarp tighteners, especially when snugging down the chains, purchased them just in case...my dealings with etrailer have been nothing but perfect, there online dealings top notch!

by:

Every product purchased from etrailer.com has been excellent. They always provide prompt delivery.

by:

Pw 100 is too short for my camry 1999, 205 65 15, Pw99 may be better. I put the rubber adjusters on for testing, later, I found there has a cutting mark on the rubber, It think it too small

by:

Really helpful for getting any extra slack out of the chains. My only issue is that the hooks can come off of the rubber ring. I put these on in 5 inches of snow and every time one would fall off I needed to dig through the snow to find it.

  • What is the Maximum Speed Limit Driving on Snow Tire Chains in a 2013 Toyota Prius
Typi9cally the maximum speed you can drive with tire chains or cables such as # PW1030 is 30 to 40 miles per hour. But you will need to check your vehicle owners manual because if there is a speed limit for chains that is lower than that, go by the lower limit. Cables # PW1030 will fit your 2013 Toyota Prius with tire size 195/65-15. I also recommend adding the rubber adjusters # PW100. These adjusters will help keep the proper tension on the cables so they stay in position better. I have...

I have a better solution for you, but the part # PW1034 has been confirmed to fit your tire size 205/65-15. Instead for you I would recommend the # TC1540 for a similarly priced set that will fit and install easier, will last longer, and will provide better traction. If you need chains for all 4 wheels then you could easily just order two sets of these chains.

You will need to purchase Glacier Rubber Adjusters # PW100 separately from the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains # PW1038 as they are not included. I attached an FAQ article on snow chains for you to check out also. You should also consult the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if there are any restrictions on using snow chains that you should be aware of.

  • Tire Chains for a 2004 Honda Pilot and 2006 Toyota Sienna
I will be happy to help. For the 2006 Toyota Sienna with 225/60-17 tires you have several options. If you will not be using chains very often then I recommend going with cables # PW1038 with rubber adjusters # PW100. Cables are great for occasional use and the rubber adjusters help keep the proper tension on the cables and keep them in place. For your 2004 Honda Pilot with 235/70-16 tires you can use cables # PW2029C and the same rubber adjusters. For both vehicles you will want to consult...

The Glacier Tire Chains for the 2000 Honda Accord, part # PW1034, are correct for your 2000 Honda Accord, and they do not require adjusters, but they are recommended. If you wanted adjusters you would need Glacier Rubber Adjusters for Class S Snow Chains - 1 Pair, part # PW100. They would make fitting and tightening the chains much easier and quicker. • Should Tire Chains be Put on Both Wheels or Just Outer Wheels on a Dually Axle
You can install tire chains on either both tires or just the outer tire on a dually set of tires (per side). Having chains on both will provide the best traction but it is a little more difficult to install them. The distance of the trip isn't as important as the road conditions and the type of terrain. In heavy snow or ice or steep grades, I would put chains on all the tires of a dually axle. If you can tell me the tire size I can determine which chains will fit. I have included a link...

The rubber adjusters aren't required but are highly recommended to help keep the # PW1030 cable chains securely in place. The actual adjuster needed will depend on your wheel diameter. If you meant LT225 vs P225 (/75-16 for both) then you can use use the appropriate size chains for both types of tire but some are better suited for one style or the other. Rubber adjusters # PW100 aren't always needed on snow chains like the part # TC1138. It just depends on how tight of a fit the chains end up being and whether or not you want to make the tightening of the chains a little bit easier. The Glacier Cable Snow Chain that will fit your 225/55-17 tires are part # PW1038.
