Video Transcript for Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit Installation

Today we're going to take a look at the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit, part number is F2526. Our fuse circuit tap kit allows us to use an existing fuse in our fuse panel to draw power off of for additional accessories. This is going to save us the hassle of splicing into our factory wiring harnesses. Essentially what it's going to allow us to do, choose the fuse we're going to use, this is our tail light circuit fuse, I'm going to pull that out, it's going to go in the bottom slot. You can see I've already installed our other 10 amp fuse on the top, that's going to create a fuse for this wire. We've got our normal fuse circuit here, and an additional fuse circuit here where we will be able to get our power. This circuit tap comes with several sizes, you've got a 10, a 20, and a 30 amp fuse that you can pick from.

You want to get that slid down in and then it's just a matter of connecting our 12 volt wire right there. Then all we'll have to do is crimp it down. Now with our fuse circuit tap kit installed you'll see we've got full power to our accessory, allowing it to illuminate any time we turn on our running lights. That will complete today's installation of the Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit, part number F2526.

After watching etrailer's video, I purchased this item with the ETBC7 kit. Worked as it should. I routed the wiring a little different so I didn't have to cut the fuse case cover. The price is more than others but I didn't care. Their video alone was worth paying the difference in price.

This fuse tap made getting power from a switched power source relatively easy. I used it to provide power from a fuse that was hot with the ignition switch in the accessory or run position so that the solenoid for my trailer wiring and trailer brake controller would be hot whenever the switch was in either of those two positions. I picked a fuse for an item that wouldn't normally have a high demand current so that adding the solenoid wouldn't overload the fuse or the circuit. The final installation of the fuse tap was made in the engine compartment fuse box of my 2001 Toyota Tundra. The wire coming off the fuse tap was just barely long enough for my installation but worked out fine once I moved the solenoid closer. The whole setup has been working without any issues for a year now even though I only occasionally tow the trailer. The solenoid is powered every time I drive the truck and I've had no blown fuses!

I love e-trailer. Products are great and service is better!

by:

The customer service at etrailer is awesome. When I discovered that I had ordered the wrong fuse circuit I sent a note via their website asking for help. They got back to me right away and helped me find the correct part. They also sent me clear instructions on how to return the original part. I'll be ordering from etrailer again and again I'm sure.

by:

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would have to give etrailer customer service an 11+. This item was out of stock when the order was placed. I received several emails as to the progress of my order. They even offered the option of canceling my order. The product was as advertised when it arrived. I have used etrailer before and plan to use it again in the future.

All is great. The level of service at etrailer takes me back to the sixties. I ordered the wrong ball for the draw bar I selected. Someone called from etrailer almost immediately and straightened everything out. Even with my mess up I got the order in two shipping days! Great company, great service, great prices, and unbelievable array of products...not even mentioning the incredible help and information available on line. I wish we could clone these guys.

The trailer has not come loose since I installed it. It must be working as intended!

Could I give it zero stars? Working on a return.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring To Charge Battery And Use Solar Panels
To wire your vehicle battery 12V to charge a trailer battery, I recommend using a 40 amp In-Line Circuit Breaker - Perpendicular Mount Bracket # 9510 along with # 10-1-1 to wire your trailer connection. In order not to drain your vehicle battery, I recommend you use the Battery Isolation Solenoid # PK5231201 to only allow the trailer to draw power when the vehicle is running. You will need to use an ignition-controlled circuit in your truck to activate the solenoid. The radio circuit...

  • Prodigy P2 90885 Brake Controller Wiring Installation in 2010 Chevrolet Colorado
The brake light switch on your 2010 Chevrolet Colorado does not have a "cold" wire suitable for use to trigger a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885. In other trucks where there is a cold wire on a vehicle brake light switch this is the wire that carries a signal only under one condition: when you press the brake pedal. In such a vehicle this is the wire that would connect to a brake controller's RED input signal wire to tell it to generate a brake signal for the trailer. In your...

  • All Trailer Lights Work Except for Running Lights
If it is a fuse (or relay) you can find the location using the legends on the lids of the under hood and in cab fuse panels to locate the circuits related to the tow package wiring. If it is not one of those then it is likely a bad ground or other weak connection causing the trailer running lights to not work. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light but...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Not Working
This is most likely a dirty 4-way connector pin that is causing this problem. Try cleaning the pins of the 4-ways with sandpaper to improve the connection and most likely the problem will go away. If not that it could also be a blown fuse on the tow vehicle.

  • Brake Controller Installation Cold Wire for Brake Control on 2021 Chevrolet Express 3500
The 2021 Chevrolet Express is a difficult vehicle as it does not have a cold side on the brake switch for installing the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885. Instead you will need a Fuse Circuit Tap # F2526 that will allow you to get power from a fuse(Auxiliary Stop Lamp Fuse) in the engine compartment fuse panel. You can see this process in the video that I linked below.

  • Parts Needed to Install Brake Controller and Wiring on a 2017 Chevy Express 3500 Van
I will be happy to help you find all of the parts you need to tow your trailer with brakes using your 2017 Chevy Express 3500 Van! To install a fully functional 7-Way connector, and ultimately a brake controller, on your Express Van you will need 4-Way wiring that carries the basic trailer light functions and the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. For the basic light functions I recommend going with the T-One # 118392 which simply plugs in behind your tail lights (see attached installation...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Functions That Dont Work But Fuses Are Good
First thing you should do at this point is test the 7-way of the wiring harness with a circuit tester part # PTW2993 for voltage on all of the right pins when the taillight signals are being applied. Just like in the video I attached. My theory is it's on the trailer side of the equation and a weak ground. If the voltage checks out there but the trailer lights still don't function right then the problem is on the trailer wiring. That would mean that problem is either due to a ground issue...

  • Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit Recommendation for Installing a CB in a 1998 Toyota Tacoma
This Firestone Fuse Circuit Tap Kit # F2526 should work for installing a CB radio in your 1998 Toyota Tacoma. If there is a fuse already protecting the CB radio I would recommend putting in a fuse that is the same rating or higher for the # F2526. If you were to go lower you would most likely end up popping fuses on the # F2526 pretty frequently from amperages that are actually safe for your CB.
