Video Transcript for Review of Blue Ox Replacement 750 lbs TW SwayPro Spring Bars - BXW4006

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at these Blue Ox replacement spring bars for your SwayPro weight distribution system. Now this kit is going to include the two spring bars, lift chains, and necessary hardware needed to replace your SwayPro spring bars. Now, one of the really nice things about the SwayPro system is that you can simply switch out your spring bars. So if you get a lighter trailer or a heavier trailer make sure that your a ride is gonna be nice and smooth, you can simply switch out the spring bars so that it's got the right weight capacity for you rather than having to get a whole new system.

So we do have lots of different spring bar sets that will range from tongue weight of 200 pounds up to the tongue weight of 2000 pounds. So you just need to make sure that you're getting the right set for your setups tongue weight. The bars do all look very similar. They are going to have slight thickness differences but the easiest way to tell which bar set you have, they use a dot system. So the 350 pound bars are not gonna have a dot Your 550 pound max ton weight is gonna have one dot, like we have here.

So these are our 550 pound max tongue weight. But then on that list there you can see those dots on the right side. So it goes up to five dots for your 2000 pound tongue weight rating. So just make sure you're getting the right one for your setup so that it's not gonna be too rigid and it's going to engage properly for you. All these sets are going to work with both your older locking pin style pivot tubes.

So they've got the divot there on the top, so your locking pin will grab onto that to secure these into your head unit. And they are also going to work with your newer style through pin style locking tube so that you can get that pin passed all the way through there to secure that. So whether you have the older style or the newer this will work great for you. These are made here in the USA, so you can trust they're made to the high quality standards we've come to know and trust for products that are made here in the US, but more than that, because they are a Blue Ox product you can trust they are gonna fit right into your SwayPro system. And you're not gonna have any issues with it.

It's just going to accommodate for either replacing spring bars that you already have or adjusting your setup for that different tongue weight. So that completes our look for today. Again I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

I've dealt with ETrailer several times now concerning replacement parts for my Blue Ox hitch. Excellent prompt service each time. Videos and other info on the parts insure you get exactly what you want and need. Would highly recommend these guys. It's what all on-line retailers should be.

Excellent anti-Sway towing system

by:

Delivery is always quick. Price is always competitive.

by:

Excellent technical advice and rapid de livery.

These bars are just what I needed. I have had a Blue Ox hitch with 1000 bars for awhile but bought a new trailer with a lot less tongue weight. That is why I bought 750 bars. The fact you can change bars without changing the whole hitch is a real plus. I think the Blue Ox hitch is the best hitch on the market bar none and I have had a few..

Working great.

by:

Reviewed multiple weight distribution hitches before choosing the Blue Ox system. Thuis is a well built system offering the flexibility to adjust to different tongue weights by swapping out trunion bars. Adjustments based on different loads and weights are not complicated and can be performed with trailer loaded. Quality materials.
eTrailer was staff was knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant when I called, answering my questions quickly. Delivery was prompt.
Thank you.

Great product. Steve Z was a big help. I ordered these on a Monday and paid for 2 day delivery. UPS scheduled it to be delivered on Wednesday but it didn’t arrive until Thursday which was disappointing.

by:

Purchased a new travel trailer which had a heavier toe weight which required bring bars with a higher weight rating. Was very happy I could purchase these bars to increase the rating of my hitching system at fraction of the cost of purchasing a complete new one. The bars fit and performed as required.

by:

Great communication from George J. at etrailer. The weight distribution bars arrived very promptly and exactly as described. Now all I have to do is put some 750 lbs. of weight on my trailer and test them. I think I will wait until tomorrow to do that! Thanks guys, nice service.

Amazingly easy & quick to order these replacement spring bars for my Blue Ox travel trailer hitch. I lost one bar due to my haste in hooking up recently.
Now I have an extra!!!

by:

Shawnee E was very patient with me. She never hurried and consulted with other etrailer employees to make sure that what I was purchasing would work with my hitch/trailer. She also assumed me that if things didnt work out I could return the product. Thanks again Shawnee for the extraordinary amount of time you offered up.

by:

I ordered a pair of 750# blue ox bars and received them in just 4 days. They arrived in good shape. I had asked a question earlier about the bars and received a quick and informative reply.

by:

750 lb bars to replace the 1000lb bars I had. Tongue weight is consistently under 750 when loaded, so down-weighted accordingly.

by:

Always good to work with.

by:

As always, Etrailer has delivered! Well packaged, great product.

Yes, you can replace the spring bars on your Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System # BXW0550 with higher-rated 750 pound bars # BXW4006. This will upgrade the 550 pound tongue weight capacity on your existing system to the 750 pound limit of the new spring bars. All the SwayPro weight distribution systems use the same head unit, so the spring bars can be swapped without issue.

If you are sitting at 500 pounds of tongue weight then the Replacement Spring Bars for Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System - 750 lbs TW # BXW4006 will work for you. This provided up to 750 pounds of tongue weight which would give you a buffer of 250 pounds. • What Spring Bars Should I Use on my Blue Ox SwayPro WD System for a 3,500 lb Dry Weight Trailer
When you are looking at a Weight Distribution System, you are going to want to base the weight rating off of the Tongue Weight (TW) of your loaded and ready-to-go trailer, plus any cargo that will be behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Since the ideal TW of a trailer is 10-15 percent of the Gross Trailer Weight, the Blue Ox Spring Bars that are rated for 350-550 lbs # BXW4005 will work well if your TW plus any cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle does not exceed 550 lbs. Since you're moving to a lower tongue weight your current Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW1000 is going to be too overrated and won't properly distribute the weight of the trailer across the frame of your tow vehicle. The Blue # BXW0550 would be underrated for your trailer's GVWR and TW so it also would not be the correct choice. you would instead need to use the # BXW0750 to have enough capacity for your trailer, without overdoing it. Using the same weight distribution system with such a drastic difference in the amount of weight you're towing can be an issue. If your load is too heavy for the system then it won't be able to do its job, go too light and it will make your trailer ride rough. If you use a weight distribution system with spring bars that rated higher than what the trailer calls for you will have a rough ride quality that will be very unpleasant. When choosing a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. • Are Long or Short Torsion Arms Better for a Weight Distribution System
The reason long bars on weight distribution (WD) systems, like the Strait-Line # RP66074, are so popular is because that means the clamps for the trailer frame will sit about 30" away from the coupler. Typically this avoids items that sit on the tongue, like propane tanks. Short arms are a great substitute for when things like propane tanks get in the way. There really is no advantage or disadvantage of using long or short arms other than the location of other things on the tongue of your...
