Effect of Swapping Spring Bars on Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution

I have the Blue Ox BXW0350 and I see the description includes a statement about increasing the capacity by swapping out the spring arms for stronger ones. How far can this be taken and what does it affect? Gross tow capacity, tongue weight?

That is correct, you can swap out the spring bars on the # BXW0350 for higher rated spring bars. The head and the shank have a rating high enough to handle any of the spring bars. Changing the bars will alter the tongue weight range of the system which is what you want to focus on when choosing a system/spring bars.

The gross towing weight will be 10x the max tongue weight in the tongue weight range or you could view it as the max tongue weight is 10% of the gross towing weight. For example, the # BXW0350 has a tongue weight range of 150-350 lbs and a gross towing weight of 3,500 lbs.

If you swapped out the bars with the # BXW4014 that turns the system into the # BXW2000 with a tongue weight range of 1,500-2,000 lbs and gross towing weight of 20,000 lbs. We have the following available for spring bars:

If you're trying to upgrade your system to use with a new/different trailer you will need to choose the correct set of bars based on the loaded tongue weight of your trailer.
