Video Transcript for ASA Advent Air RV Air Conditioners Coleman Mach Adapter Wiring Kit Review

Hey guys, Kevin with etrailer. And today I'm gonna be talking about the Advent Air RV AC wiring harness adapter. If you own a Coleman or a older model RV AC unit where it has a heat pump in it, you're gonna notice that your connector has a nine pin connection. A lot of the newer rooftop models really just don't come with that heat pump anymore. It's only gonna be a six pin model. So the way to replace our rooftop unit without having to replace our entire system our air distribution box, and our wall thermostat is to use one of these wiring harnesses, which will allow you to plug into that nine pin connector that's on your controller.

And then that six pin connector that's on the rooftop unit. If you look at your connector on your AC unit, you'll notice it has these rounded connection points with flat edges on it. And that's gonna match up perfectly with our connector so that you can only plug it in one specific way. Go ahead and pop that together. And then when you look at your nine pin it's gonna be square with a rounded top.

So we wanna make sure that we're placing it on our controller the exact same way. Otherwise it's not gonna connect. Now with switching from a six pin to a nine pin in our wiring harness, we are losing that ability to have a heat pump. But with our unit today, it doesn't have one anyway, so no real loss there. Well, I think that about does it for today's look at our Advent Air RV AC wiring harness adaptor.

My name's Kevin. Thanks for watching..

Thanx so much for your site. It's easy to navigate and your customer service is stellar. Love my Advent Air, staying cool in these long hot Texas summers can be a challenge but with your help I have survived. When my old unit quit I was at a loss for what to do next and your help gave me all the confidence to make the right choices. After selecting the AC unit your prompts helped me choose all the proper accessories to stay cool. Never had a company check in after a year. Thanx Again.

The harness fit exactly the application needed. Beatrice was so helpful and we talked the whole remove and replacement through to ensure I had the right
Parts.

by:

Worked just fine for my new air conditioner !

by:

This wire harness work great for the co nversion.

by:

5 star review for the adapter kit itself, seems to be high quality components. Ultimately it wasn't what I needed for my very old and worn labeled Coleman-Mach unit I replaced. Ended up doing new wiring from scratch. If this kit works for you, I highly recommend it.

by:

Just didn't work for my older (2007) Coleman unit.

by:

Absolutely satisfied. Worked great and cold AC blowing now. Great product, price, service info over phone, delivered as promised. A big thank you.

Everything arrived when she said it would and undamaged, that's what I was worried about..will not hesitate to order again, thank you kim for all the help..

Etrailer made it easy by listing the air-conditioners that would fit my rv. They also listed the parts that I would need in addition to the air-conditioner. Their videos helped me install it.
The air-contioner was easy to install. It works very well and is about the same noise level as the Coleman Mach 8 low profile that it replaced.

by:

Exactly what was described

by:

Great products fast shipping

by:

Right connecter, excellent fit

by:

Would have given 5 stars, but will call wasn’t an option. Kinda sucks cause I work just up the street, would have been nice to pick up what I needed as opposed to waiting for shipping. That being said I have always been happy with the products I’ve received from Etrailer, and the adapter kit worked perfectly!

by:

GREAT PRICE GREAT IDEA

by:

Delivery personnel dented the first delivery, apparently with fork lift as it deformed the a/ c unit in two different locations. Robert was right on top of the situation. Started the replacement before I even got the pictures sent to him. I’ve always received excellent service from Robert and etrailer. They will continue to get my patronage.
Thanks Robert B

by:

Almost a direct replacement for Coleman Mach. Easy to install hardest part was getting it in top of the rv.

by:

etrailer charged me [XX] dollars just to send back this item after I told them it was no longer needed and this product only cost [XX] dollars and I paid [XX] dollars to have it shipped to me. What a rip off. Half of the item was paid for in shipping fees alone. This is why I only order at Amazon if I can help it. Your return policy is garbage.

by:

People at etrailer are very helpful . One side note that could have made the order easier . Get familiar with different units and what is required to install in advance of shipping a product . Also installation pamphlet should be included without asking for it . Would have saved me 2 weeks of waiting and doing my own research

by:

The AC was easy to install, affordable, and works great! I had to make a couple of modifications to the install instructions, but they were pretty straight forward. I will definitely use etrailer for my next rv purchase!

by:

E Trailer was perfect. Thank you so much I appreciate it.

by:

Part ordered was correct and worked gre at!

by:

Vary professional! On it! I’d do it tom orrow

Doesn't work with Coleman Mach system. Ended up buying two trim packages with two new cheap stats. Note you have to run power wire to stats.

  • Recommended Replacement For A Dometic Penguin 630515 RV Air Conditioner
If you're wanting to just replace the rooftop unit and still keep the air distribution box and thermostat then you can use the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150 you were looking at, but will need to verify the connector type first. You'll need to remove the cover of your air distribution box and look up for the controller. There will be a wire harness that hangs down from the rooftop unit and plugs into the controller. If it has a 6-pin connector (pictured below) then...

  • Can A Dometic Duo-Therm 57915.531 RV Air Conditioner Get A Refrigerant Recharge
RV air conditioner units unfortunately do not have the option to have their refrigerant levels recharged because the manufacturers close off the system instead of building in a port so you're looking at replacement. You can save a bit of money by just replacing the rooftop condenser unit instead of the entire system though. You'll just need to do a bit of investigative work to see what style connector your condenser unit has. If you remove the cover to your air distribution box on the...

Electric Heat Strip for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners - 5,500 BTU # ACMHD. According to the manufacturer of the # ACM150 Advent Air RV air conditioner would be compatible with your existing ducting and thermostat, but you'd need the # ACCOLKIT adapter kit. Keep in mind, though that the existing Coleman thermostat won't be compatible with the optional # ACMHD heat strip, if that's something you were deciding you were needing.

  • Parts Needed To Use 15K BTU Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Overhead Unit
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM150 is just an overhead unit. It's designed to be used with an Advent Air Distribution Box like part # ACRG15. That said, it can be used with other brands of distribution boxes but you'll need an adapter for this which will be specific to the exact brand and model you have. For example, if you have a Coleman Mach RV Air Conditioner then you will need part # ACCOLKIT or if you have a Carrier RV Air Conditioner you will need part # ACCARKIT.

Typically there will be some sort of model number somewhere on the rooftop unit under the shroud, or a sticker on the controller in between the condenser and air distribution box, or even just on the inside of the air distribution box. You might even luck out and find the wiring diagram on the controller or condenser unit since they typically have it readily available to help make installation easier. Since you're just needing to replace the rooftop unit of your Coleman Mach AC system you can use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 or the # ACM150B for a black shroud. This unit requires a plug-and-play adapter cable to hook right into your Coleman system for an easy installation, which is # ACCOLKIT. Well there are two routes you can take when replacing the AC unit: Route 1: You replace just the rooftop (condenser) unit and keep the same air distribution box and thermostat. Most people choose route 1 and just keep their thermostat, since most of the time it's still functioning properly but the condenser unit has failed. Route 2 is typical for people who have an issue with their thermostat...
