How It Works

Paired with your AC unit (sold separately), this electric heat strip keeps your RV warm on a cold or frosty morning. It is operated with the control dial on the air distribution box (sold separately). After you turn the dial to the heat setting, the compressor will shut off, and the fan will blow air over the heater and into your RV. When the optimal temperature has been reached, turn the dial to a fan or cooling setting. Please also note that the heat strip only has one temperature setting and cannot be controlled by the thermostat.

Simple Installation

Advent Air Electric Heat Strip

To install, mount the heat strip to the evaporator inside the AC unit with the included mounting screws. The heat strip has easy, plug-and-play installation with the supplied 30" power cord.

Was hoping this would produce at least a bit of heat. Installed and then tested it while temp outside was 30F. First it drew more than 15amps, had to start the generator in order to produce enough amps to keep it running. After 20 minutes no real heat, so kinda sad. However customer service here is great.
Wish it was better, but hay not always what you expect, but I tried.

Still working fine, not as much heat as I was hoping however it helps in not having to use propane as much.

Very fast delivery time. Excellent packaging to help prevent damage during shipment. Haven't installed parts yet but everything looks good.

I received the heater unit & promptly installed it. Being a competent mechanical type, I found the installation to be straightforward but a bit painful. On the left side (w/elect terminals) was a slot in the protective metal screening for the purpose of using a screwdriver to install the 2 short screws. Difficulty came when trying to weave the screwdriver through terminal ends and wires while trying to guide the screw into the bracket slots.
On the opposite end, there were no electrical terminals, but neither was there a slot in the screening. This required a small diameter Phillips screwdriver to get through the metal screening. In my case it took way longer than one would anticipate to install 4 small screws. It was all good in the end & I am pleased with the product, how it is integrated into the a/c unit and how it functions.
It may be worth mentioning in the video & written instruction, that the HEAT position on the air distribution box also provides power to the fan for heat circulation. I did not see or hear that mentioned anywhere and caused me to question it. By trial, I discovered it's functionality.

Can this be installed as a standalone unit?

I do have an option for you but the heat strip cannot be used as a standalone heater for your trailer. It will need to be plugged into an Advent AC unit (ACM135, ACM135B, ACM150, or ACM150B). If you have one of those units the heat strip will allow you to set your air distribution box to only blow warm air. It sounds like you need a standalone trailer heater like part # CAM57341.

Advent ac unit works extremely well. I have two that are installed in vintage camping trailers as replacements for the 1970s OEM units. They installed easily & function flawlessly. I would not hesitate to buy yet another if the occassion arises.

by:

Very easy to install, just plug and play. I wish it were a bit quieter but all on all an improvement over the ac unit it replaced.

by:

fit perfect

by:

I have looked into your order and it looks like the airbox should have arrived to you by now. I would love to hear your updated feedback on that as well as this heat strip.

Product delivered in a timely manner and as advertised

by:

I installed two of these strips. Installation is incredibly simple. You can get this done in 30 minutes or less with just a screwdriver. The one I installed above the main cabin keeps the RV comfortable. My bedroom area is signicantly smaller and the unit that services it keeps it quite warm. I usually have to cycle the fan and heat option to keep the temperature where I like. The Advent heat strip is a good option. For reference, I am living full time in my RV.

by:

Fairly easy to install and seems to work. Too hot now to tell.

by:

Would not work on this ac unit

by:

Delivered as said

by:

Takes the chill off

by:

I installed the heat strip in my Advent air conditioner and it worked great, instructions were very good and it worked well, nice and warm. We had just installed the ac unit in a pop up camper and it was great, does not drip water on roof. Very happy. Steve

  • Recommended Replacement For A Carrier Air V Model # 68RV15102A RV AC Unit
At this time we no longer offer the Atwood line of AC units so the only available options would be from Furrion or Advent Air. If you're just wanting to replace the rooftop unit and maintain use of your air distribution box and thermostat controller then you can choose between the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit # FR58PR (along with an adapter # ACCARKIT) or the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Carrier Setup # ACCAR150. • Will The Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner Replace A Dometic Duo-Therm Condenser Unit
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150 can most certainly replace the condenser units of your Dometic Duo-Therm AC system. The only thing you'll need to check beforehand is if you have a 6-pin or 9-pin connector on the harness for Dometic units. Each unit will have a controller, which is typically a small black plastic or metal box that all the wiring will run to. This can be mounted either inside of the condenser unit or mounted in the air distribution box (plastic cover for the...

  • Adjusting A Dometic Thermostat To Control An Advent Air Heat Strip
To get your Advent heat strip Item # ACMHD to work on your Dometic Duo thermostat you'll need to remove the cover and set the three dip switches to Up - Down - Down. Your old setup was for a heat pump instead of a heat strip so that's why your strip wasn't showing up on your thermostat.
