Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today on our 2019 Ford F-150, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the DZ tailgate assist. So without a tailgate assist, we all know how they work. You know, once you unlatch it they're going to drop down with speed unless you're steadily kind of helping it come down. Not really a huge deal in most cases. But the times when you got your hands full or it's really cold outside, something like that, you don't want this tailgate to get away from you slam down and you could potentially not only damage the tailgate but the hinges and stuff like that as well. So by adding that assist, it's really going to help slow things down and keep it safe and predictable. more

DeeZee Pickup Truck Tailgate Assist Lowering System Installation - 2018 Ford F-150- Video
Today, our 2018 Ford F150 we're gonna be taking a look at, the DZ tailgate assist custom tailgate lowering system, part number DZ 43204. A common problem with trucks is whenever you go to open the tailgate, especially it you have something in your hands, you'll open it up and the tailgate wants to slam down and either have to let it slam or guide it down all while we're trying to hold everything in our hands.For their tailgate assist we're not gonna have to worry about holding our tailgate, we can simply open it up, it'll come down nice and slow so we don't have to worry about any damage. The shock absorber on our tailgate assist, it's gonna allow our tailgate to come down slowly so we're not gonna hurt ourselves or damage or truck but at the same time it's still gonna allow us to push our tailgate up with minimal effort.It is gonna be a custom design fit for and F150 which means we're not gonna have to cut, drill, or anything at all. It's gonna be a completely bolt on instillation. Let's show you how I do that now. The Stromberg Carlson Louvered Tailgate is the perfect addition for your 5th wheel or gooseneck. It features that convenient cut out design which is going to improve visibility when backing up to or towing that 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer. The vented design here is going to help reduce drag and it may improve your fuel economy. The metal latches make it easy to use for when opening and closing. Today on our 2017 Ford F-150, we're going to be testing fitting the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series Fifth Wheel Louvered Tailgate with locks for Ford trucks, part number VG-15-4000. The strong and durable plastic tailgate is great for both gooseneck and fifth wheel applications. It has locking capabilities to prevent theft, and is louvered to reduce wind noise and drag while you drive. Especially this protects your OEM tailgate by replacing it for those trips with the fifth wheels and goosenecks so you don't damage it as you travel. The tailgate is blow-molded, which makes it lightweight yet strong, and also makes it corrosion and rust resistant. Right now we have it in its lock position. The Stromberg Carlson louvered tailgate is the perfect addition for when towing your gooseneck, or fifth wheel trailer. It has that convenient cutout design, which is going to improve your visibility for when backing up, or towing that fifth wheel, or gooseneck. The vented design here is also going to improve your visibility and may improve your fuel economy. The latches on each side make it easy to open and close. The whole thing has a weight capacity of 100 pounds. It's not designed to be a step, so be sure not to sit or stand on it. The whole thing is made out of a heavy duty steel construction with a primed finish. It's paintable, so you could match your truck if you'd like. Today in our 2013 Ford F150, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate with Lock for Ford trucks, part number VG-04-4000. Our tailgate's made out of a glass filled blown molded plastic. It's going to resist any kind of corrosion or rust. It does have a nice lock, so you can lock it into the closed position, designed for one-handed operation. It uses a rotary style lock, much like the one that comes from the factory. The cables are going to help keep up your tailgate when it's in the down position. As you can see, it's going to contour the body really nicely and give it the factory-seamed look. more

Today on our 2012 Ford F-150 we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Husky liners premium fifth wheel louvered tailgate with locking handle. Part number is HL15160. We'll just bring it up closed, and you can see after adjustment you got that really nice fine contour. It goes right along with the factory fit. Stromberg Carlson 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate Installation - 2014 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2014 F 150, we're going to do a test fit on the Strongberg Carlson 400 Series fifth wheel louvered tailgate with lock for Ford trucks, part number is VG-04-04000. The fifth wheel tailgate is going to provide a really good way to get our fifth wheel or gooseneck hooked up to our truck without having to open and close the tailgate each time. This is a blow molded, glass filled polymer, so you're going to have a very strong, almost as strong as steel feel to it, while we are not going to have to worry about rust, corrosion and things like that. This is a paint able surface, as well as our adjustable end caps, fully paint able so we can match the truck if we decide to. The nice thing about the end caps here, these are going to be fully adjustable. That is going to give us that custom look, or that specifically designed look as you can see, it matches up really well with the contours of our truck and it gives it more of a factory feel or more of an original equipment feel to it. You can see the louvers, that are in the tailgate. more

Today on our 2014 Ford F-150, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install this Stromberg Carlson 100 Series Fifth Wheel Tailgate with open design. Part number is VG-04-100. Now the fifth-wheel tailgate features a nice drop-down right here in the middle, so whether we're backing in our gooseneck or our fifth wheel, we'll be able to get it connected. We're not going to have to open and close the tailgate each time. This is a nice, heavy-duty steel gate. It's got a really good feel to it. It's got a black finish on it now, but this can be painted to match your truck, so we do have that option. more

DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Lowering System Installation - 2013 Ford F-150- Video
Today in our 2013 Ford F150, well be installing the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System for pickup trucks part number DZ43200.Lets begin by showing you how the tailgate can just simply drop when you release it. To begin with, we need to adjust the nutsert tool so that theres approximately three quarters of an inch from the washer to the head of the bolt. If you need to move it, you simply loosen the nut and screw the bolt in or out to get to the proper length and then tighten down the nut. As you can see here, weve already got our three quarter inch length set properly.Next, were going to use an M5 Allen wrench, as well as a 10-millimeter wrench to install the nutsert in the opening in the tailgate pivot point. When installing this, were going to need to turn the nut 360 degrees nine times. To make things a little bit easier, were going to take our paint marker and mark one side of the nut so that we can keep count as were turning the nut in tighter. more

Stromberg Carlson Tailgate Installation - 2006 Ford F-150- Video
Today on our 2006 Ford F150, well be test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 100 series fifth wheel tailgate with open design, part number VG-04-100.Now to begin our test fit, we will first start off by removing our manufacturers tailgate. Well open up the tailgate and lay it down flat. Well then move to the support straps attached to the truck bed, lift up the silver plate to allow us to bring the strap up off of the hook. We will then repeat these steps for the other side. Note that you do need to keep a hold on the tailgate as once both straps have been removed, the tailgate will not have any support.Well then put the tailgate in a 45 degree angle and lift up on the passenger side of the tailgate. Once the passenger side is free, we can then slide the tailgate to the right and allow the drivers side of the tailgate to pop out.Now with the new hardware installed on the fifth wheel tailgate, well start off by inserting the rubber bushing on the drivers side of the truck bed. more

Today on this 2002 Ford F-150 we are going to do a test fit of part number VG-97-4000. This is Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series fifth wheel tailgate. Few things to know this tailgate has a cut out for a fifth wheel or a gooseneck trailer. Its constructed from a black composite plastic frame with built in louvers which allows for less drag and improves visibility. It also has a key center release mechanism that works with the latches. This will allow you to lock the tailgate on the truck. more

Today we have with this the 2012 Ford F150. We're going to show you how to install the Stromberg Carlson Vented 5th Wheel Tailgate, part # VG-04-100. The first thing we need to do is remove the OEM tailgate. We'll lower it partially, disconnect the cables and then move the door to about a 45-degree angle so that we can slide it off of its hinges. Next we'll take a latch assembly, put it into place on a tailgate and use the included hardware to install our latch. We'll repeat the same for the opposite side of the tailgate. more
