Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today in this 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part #BX1128.Now the reason you're going to want a base plate like this for your Grand Cherokee is that this will allow you to safely and easily hook up a tow bar to your vehicle so you can safely flat tow it behind a motor home. Here's what our base plate looks like installed. What's great about this base plate is that it's designed to work in the cutouts where your factory tow hooks would be on your vehicle. If your vehicle doesn't have factory tow hooks there is an area that you can follow to easily score out with a utility knife to remove it and have access to your removable arms.The way the arms work, you simply take the arm, have this tab at a horizontal angle, push it in and twist it 90 degrees, and it'll lock into place with the spring loaded pin. The way this pin works is it prevents it from rotating so you can't take out the arm and this is where your tow bar will attach to. When you want to remove it, simply pull on the pin, twist and you pull off the arm.To help keep dirt and debris from entering the socket we do have these included cups which just slide into place and it'll make it easy for you to reinsert your arms when you need to because it keeps all the road debris, and dirt, and whatnot out of there. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we're going to be installing Blue Ox Baseplate Kit, Part Number BX1126.The main components you will need to complete your flat tow setup are a baseplate, tow bars, wiring, and braking system. This baseplate is going to allow you to hook up your vehicle to the back of your RV and pull it down the road. It's compatible with any tow bars from Blue Ox and it will work with Roadmaster tow bars with an adapter. It has a location on each end to mount your safety chains so you can connect those up for your safety. It also has a inaudible 00:00:34 location up front for a six bolt connector so you can get all the necessary signals that you need from your RV back to your vehicle. Narrator: Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to be installing the Roadmaster's EZ4 base plate, part number RM-521448-4. And to complete your flat tow setup on your 15 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to need a base plate like the one that we have here, a set of tow bars to connect it between your motorhome, a braking system to assist with stopping the vehicle, and a diode wiring kit to allow all your turning and brake signals to be transferred back to your vehicle.Now, this is what your base plate is going to look like when it's installed. As you can see, it's tucked up nicely under the bumper, so it won't really detract from the looks of the vehicle. It features quick disconnects for your tow bar. Offers a nice clean look when not in use, it's nice and tucked in in the bumper fascia, doesn't stick out too far. It also has a black powder coat finish to resist any rusting or corrosion.When it comes time to use your base plate, when you're getting ready to tow, simply take your removable arms, pull your pin, slide it into place, twist until it locks in. Additionally, it's going to provide a mounting location for your six pole connector, so you can get that necessary lighting and potentially breaking system installed on your vehicle easily.It has removable attachments for your tow bar, so when you're not using it, you can simply pull them out and that way you don't have to worry about bumping your knee against it when walking by and it will help it look a little bit nicer as well. On the ends of the tow bar is a location to hook up your safety chains. This adapter will work with Blue Ox brand tow bars and can also be adapted to work with Roadmaster tow bars using part number RM-031 or RM-031-5. more

Now, here's what our base plate's going to look like installed on our Cherokee Trailhawk without the arms in place. As you can see it's going to blend in pretty nicely. We've just replaced our tow hooks, which tend to stand out on this model anyway.You can see we've got our safety chain connection point there, and then the receiver portion of our removable arm, got a cap there just to protect it from dirt and debris getting in there. Just slide that arm in and rotate it, and that's going to give us our connection point. more

It hides nicely underneath the bumper, just barely poking out, and it fits pretty flush with the bumper so you don't have to worry about it sticking out too far and having to keep that in your mind when driving the vehicle worrying about bumping into something.When you're ready to use your tow bars, just slide in the tow bar adapter and turn it to lock it into place. This tow bar adapter makes it really easy to hook up your Roadmaster tow bars. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number BX1138. Here's what our base plate looks like once we have it fully installed. Now this is gonna allow us to hook up to our motor home on our tow bar and safely tow our Cherokee down the road.Our base plate has removable arms so when we're not towing our Cherokee we can pull on this pin here, rotate it, and then pull the arm out and it's very unnoticeable because it's gonna be hidden behind the grill and it's gonna have this nice black powder coat finish that blends in nicely. After you remove the arm they come with these plastic caps so we can put it inside the baseplate so it'll be nice and protected and keep any kind of debris from getting inside.The distance between our two brackets is gonna be 34 inches and the brackets themselves are gonna be 19 inches off the ground, which is a good measurement to know because you're gonna want to make sure that you're towing your Cherokee nice and flat when you're going down the road.Our Blue Ox base plate is gonna work with a wide variety of Blue Ox tow bars as well as some Roadmaster tow bars with an adapter that is sold separately. Our base plate is gonna be custom designed for our Cherokee so there's gonna be very minimal cutting or any kind of drilling that we're gonna have to do. Compared to the Roadmaster base plate our Blue Ox is gonna be a lot simpler of an installation with a lot less cutting and drilling involved. more

Now what are base plate, really the main purpose of it is it's going to spread the towing force evenly so we're going to take off some of that stress from our front suspension.Our base plate's made of steel with a nice black powder coat finish. Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler, we're gonna be taking a look a showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, with removable arms, Part #VX-1133.So here's what our base plate looks like fully installed on our Jeep. Now this is gonna allow us to flat tow our Jeep behind an RV or motor home, and safely get it down the road.I do wanna mention, our application is a 2017 Winter Edition Wrangler. And if you notice, it does have a little bit of a different bumper. And right here, these tabs that are on either side of our bumper, the way that we're gonna be able to tell if this base plate fits or not, this tab right here is gonna be a half inch wide. If it's any wider, this base plate will not work with that application.When we're not towing our vehicle, the attachment tabs do remove. You just pull this pin, rotate it, and we can pull it out. more

Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number RM-521440-4. Here's what a Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit looks like installed. As you'll notice, it's a nice, clean look, which doesn't stick out very far from our factory tow hook opening here. It replaced our factory tow hooks, giving us a very clean and subtle look on our vehicle. Most people, when they look at the front of your Jeep, they won't even be able to tell that it's been set up to be flat towed behind a motor home. We have this nice, easy to use, safety chain attachment point to hook up to. What I like about this, compared to some other base plates on the market, is that it sticks far away from any painted surface, so when you're clipping your safety cable or chain onto there, you don't have to worry about the cable dangling, and hitting your painted surfaces and scratching them. Closer to the center of our vehicle, off of the driver's side, we have these two prongs here for our optional wiring bracket, which you can your six pull round, your four way flat, or whatever other electrical connection you need for a towed vehicle lighting system, or an airline fitting for a towed vehicle breaking system. more

Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit, with the removable arms, part number RM-521447-4. So here's what our base plate looks like fully installed, this is gonna allows us to flat tow our vehicle behind our motor home, safely and securely. When we're not towing, our base plate is gonna feature an extremely low profile design, and if we come to the removable arms up here, and we pull that tab, we can rotate it 90 degrees and pull it straight out. Now it's very less noticeable, and hidden behind of our grill. Our removable arms are gonna be quick disconnects, we're gonna have a pull ring right here, we're just gonna unlock it, then we're gonna be able to rotate it 90 degrees, and either remove it, or to install it we can put it in, making sure that we push in far enough that it'll release the ring, then we can rotate it and it will lock into position, and we'll be ready to hook up our tow bar. Our base plate is compatible with all Roadmaster motor home mounted and car mounted tow bars. Now this is a custom design, so it is designed specifically to fit your particular vehicle, and as far as the installation goes, there is no welding required, but there is some minor drilling that we're gonna have to do. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how we get it installed. To begin our installation I'm gonna take our hardware, and make sure that we have all our pieces. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler we'll be having a look at and installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number BX1126. All right, here's what our base plate looks like installed. It sits up nice and high against our factory bumper, and doesn't stick out past it. This will allow us to take our Jeep off road, not hindering our ground clearance at all. When we're not flat towing our vehicle, this is what it would look like with the arms removed. Provided, we have two dust caps here that go in where the arms go to help keep dirt and debris from entering our base plate, making it difficult to insert our arms. When we're ready to flat tow our Jeep behind our motor home, we just need to remove the plastic plugs by pulling out on them. more
