Your base plate is going to be one of five main components you'll need when flat towing your vehicle behind your motorhome. The base plate provides a connection point for your tow bar to attach to. So in addition to your base plate, you'll also need your tow bar; which is the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables; which is the supplemental connection, in addition to your tow bar, your diode wiring; which takes all the lighting signals from your motorhome, transfers them to your vehicle so all the lights will operate just like your motorhome so people behind you can know your intentions when going down the road, and your supplemental braking system; which will apply the brake pedal in your vehicle, using your existing brakes on the vehicle to help it come to a safe stop when you hit the brakes in your motorhome.And this is what our base plate is going to look like when it's installed. Hi there, Wrangler owners. Today on your 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmasters Base Plate Kit. And this is what our baseplate is going to look like when it's installed. Now, we did do some custom cutting on our under shield here to hide the base plate a little bit better than what the instructions would have you do. We used a 2.25-inch hole saw for our base plate attachment to the tow bar, and we just cut around our safety chain connections and then used a drill bit to drill for our electrical wiring coming through. For our breakaway switch, again, we just cut a little square around it. more

For a complete setup you're gonna need a base plate, a tow bar, tow bar wiring, a braking system, and finally safety cables.So here's what our base plate looks like once we have it installed. This is gonna give us a really solid attachment point so we can hook up our tow bar and safely flat-tow our Jeep down the road. One of the nicest things about our base plate is whenever we're not towing, most of us are gonna look at this and say, "I really don't want this bracket sticking out." Well, we can come to this pull ring here, simply pull on it, rotate the arm, and we can pull it out. Now it's gonna be a lot less visible and be hidden pretty well in here in the under grill part. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Crossbar Style Base Plate Kit with removable arms.Here's what our base plate's gonna look like once we have it installed. This is gonna give us a really solid attachment point to hook our tow bar up to, so we can flat tow our Jeep safely down the road.I do wanna mention that the accessories we have mounted up here are not included with the kit. Here we have our breakaway switch for our braking system, our airline fitting for our braking system, and then finally our electrical plug. But our base plate is gonna come with a bracket to mount your breakaway switch for your supplemental braking system, as well as two prongs here so you can mount your electrical connector.What I really like about this base plate is the fact that we can actually remove the arms when we're not towing our Jeep. We come to the pull ring here, we can pull it out, we'll twist the arm, and then it'll come out and have a lot cleaner look.Now, if you look, we can see that we're gonna have this crossbeam that's gonna sit right below our bumper, and that's gonna provide a lot of support for our base plate. It's gonna be mounted directly to the frame, but this crossbar here is gonna help reduce the amount of stress that's put on our front suspension.And then whenever we do wanna tow and hook up, we can simply take our arm, we'll put it in, we're gonna press in until that ring comes out, and we can rotate it till it locks into place.Our Roadmaster base plate is gonna work with all quick-disconnects, as well as all Roadmaster tow bars. more

Today in our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're gonna be installing Roadmaster's EZ4 Base Plate Kit. Part number RM-521440-4.Now that you've got your base plate fully installed we've got everything else that we'll need to get our flat tow for our vehicle behind our motor home set up.We've got our tow bars, which is the connection point between your base plate and your motor home's hitch. We have our braking system. We have our wiring, which gives us all of our stop, turn and tail lamp signals from our motor home to our vehicle.And to be able to connect our tow bar to our base plate, we're using Roadmaster's Quick Disconnect Kit. It'll give you a secure point that'll allow your vehicle to be pulled behind your motor home.On each side there will be a location for your safety chain and a connection point. The sleeves here for your connection point can be disconnected by pulling the pin, rotating it and pulling it out and that'll just give you a cleaner look when you're not using your vehicle for flat tow.Additionally, your base plate has a mounting bracket for your wiring and for your break away switch. more

Speaker 1: Today, in our 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Demco Tabless Base Plate Kit, part number DM9519336.Here's what our base plate is going to look like once we have it installed. This is going to be our attachment point that's going to attach our tow bar to our Jeep, so we can safely flat-tow it down the road. It is going to be a tabless design, so we're going to have a section that's going to go into here and lock down. We're going to simply rotate these covers and pop them out, so when we do want to tow, we can take our arms, we'll put them in and rotate them till it goes into a locked position. Then we can secure it with a pin.Whenever we're not towing, we'll pull the pin out, we're going to rotate the arm, and it'll slide out. Our arm is actually going to be bolted directly on to our tow bar, which has a few benefits. more

Now these base plates are designed to work with your factory-style channel bumper, or the double tube style bumper. If you have an off-road bumper that has D-links on the front, you'll wanna check our bit guide. We've got some options available for that that don't really involve the crossbars and the side plates for mounting.Now of the three, we're gonna be taking a look at, we've got two from Road Master. This is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. As you can see, it's not gonna stick out from the vehicle. It looks very, very nice on there, it keeps the front of the vehicle looking very nice and clean.Your base plates gonna be one of five main components in a flat tow setup.
