Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs Installation - 2011 Ford F-150

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ford F150, we're going to be installing Firestone's Ride Rite air helper springs, part number F2542. This is what our springs are going to look like when they're installed. There's currently a moderate inflation on it to allow it to carry a decent load. Each spring can be adjusted individually. This way you can maintain a steady stable load from side to side no matter what you're hauling. It'll also help increase stability while under a heavy load. You can adjust it as necessary per your load, so you can help maintain that factory ride height and make it even on both sides. more

Part number F2703.This is what our air helper springs look like when they're installed. What these are going to do for you is these are going to bring your vehicle back to normal ride height when you're lowered down with weight. These are going to attach between your frame and your rear axle with high alloy steel brackets that are coated to resist any corrosion. Another great thing about these bags is if you have an uneven load, you can air one bag up more than the other to level that load out to get you going down the highway straight. As far as the installation goes, it is a fairly simple straightforward installation. more

SumoSprings Solo Front Helper Springs Installation - 2017 Ford E-Series Cutaway

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford E-Series Cutaway, we're going to be installing SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs, part number SSF-106-47.This upgraded suspension enhancement is going to increase ride quality by helping maintain proper vehicle level and reduce sway. It replaces your factory jounce bumper and is going to provide a cushioning pad between your frame rail and your lower control arm. This will work with your suspension when making turns or evasive maneuvers to help that body from swaying back and forth. One of the noticeable benefits when using these, while driving down the highway and a large semi goes by at large speeds, you won't get that rocking motion that your RV typically has. Each spring has a 1,000 pound carrying capacity. While this does not increase the carrying capacity of your vehicle, it does increase performance while supporting large, heavy loads. These assist in distributing the load across your suspension, which will help extend the life of your overall vehicle suspension. They come in a quantity of two, there's no drilling or cutting required, and they're easy to install.Let's show you how to do that now. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 Ford E-Series Cutaway, we're going to be installing the Timbren Front Suspension Enhancement System, part number TFEF350. These Timbren springs are gonna be an easy upgrade from your original factory jounce bumpers. They're gonna provide additional cushioning that's gonna give you a softer, more comfortable ride. They'll help with sway control, going back and forth while making turns and also prevent sag, evening out the level of your vehicle. They'll work independently from one another to help compensate for uneven loads and have a maximum capacity of 3,000 pounds. Now this does not increase your total carrying capacity. It's just a supplement to increase performance when carrying heavy loads.Additionally, it'll help extend the life of your vehicle's suspension by taking some of that load and distributing it across the frame and other components. more

This is going to be an upgraded suspension enhancement over your factory jounce bumpers. And while it does not increase the carrying capacity of your vehicle, it does increase performance while carrying heavy loads. Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford F150 we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Air Lift Ride Control Air Helper Springs for the rear axle, part number AL59570. Whether you're towing a heavy trailer or your truck's under constant load like ours is with all the toolboxes, ladder racks, not to mention all the other equipment we've put in you will notice that the back end's gonna sag down a little bit and the ride's just not that comfortable. Not to mention it's gonna put a lot of strain on our rear suspension and it's actually gonna lift up the front just a bit which will misaligned our headlight and not give us as good a traction on the front tires. Our airbags are gonna help support that load and that weight and put our suspension back where it should be.Before we install them let's take it out for a drive and see how it handles. As I drive my truck over the speed bumps I can definitely tell you I can feel it resonating through the seat and it just feels a lot harsher than it normally does especially with all our toolboxes and equipment in the back. As I come up to the slalom course I'm going around the turns it definitely wants to lean extremely hard before it actually starts turning. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford F150, we're going to taking a look at and showing you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. Part number: F2525. I have my truck pulled up to my camper here. If you've ever hauled a heavy camper or towed a heavy load, a common problem is that the sag we get in the back of our truck. The back end will get pushed down, the front end will raise up, and you kind of get that floating feeling when you're driving down the road because the front tires aren't making that good of contact and we're putting a lot of stress on the rear suspension. Before I full hook up my camper, I'm going to take a few measurements. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford F350, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you to install the Firestone Ride-Rite red label extreme duty air helper springs, part number F2703.If you've every towed a heavy load or possibly a fifth camper or anything like that, you've experienced the sag in the back end of your truck. Now we all know that's going to cause a lot of drivability issues because the back end's going to go down, but the front end's going to go up, reducing our steering, braking and just maneuverability and the response that we're going to have. So before we start our installation we're going to take a few measurements. We're going to measure our rear fender height and that's going to be right about 41 inches. Then we'll move up to the front and measure that as well. The front also is going to be right about 41. Now let's go ahead and add a heavy load to the back and see what it does. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Ford F-150, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Timbren suspension enhancement system for the rear axle, part number TFRTT1504E. Here's what our Timbrens look like, once we have them installed. They are going to mount in between our frame and our axle, giving us the support that we need whenever we're hauling a heavy load or towing a heavy trailer. They are going to replace the factory jounce stops and provide us a lot more support, not only because they're taller. As you can see here with our factory jounce stop, it is much smaller. These are more designed to prevent us from actually hitting the frame on the axle, and not really provide any support. Our Timbrens are actually going to get more progressively stiff with the more weight we add, but in the beginning, they're going to be nice soft cushion, so we're still going to have nice ride. Our Timbrens are going to work independently from each other, so it's going to help with those off-center loads or if we're taking a very sharp turn. It's going to help a lot with that body roll, and just the back end of the vehicle sagging, as well. more

Now the need for a suspension upgrade typically comes from hauling. You're going to have either something in the bed of the truck or a large trailer and it's causing sag in the back of the vehicle. We've got about 1,000 pounds worth of water here in the back of the truck. We measured this before adding the water and it was at about 40 inches. This is a really quick way to add extra comfort to your ride and help increase stability while driving when hauling a big load. These helper springs activate progressively, so the more load you have on your vehicle, the stiffer they become. So if you have no load on your vehicle, it's going to feel almost as if nothing's there, just providing a little extra cushion and comfort. But if you have your vehicle loaded up, they're going to stiffen out and help maintain that ride height that you we're losing before. They're UV and weather resistant, so you don't have to worry about rain, snow, salty roads, or anything tearing up your springs. Speaker 1: Today, in this 2014 Ford F350, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Airlift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers, part number AL88396.Now, you're going to want a set of airbags in your truck like this, is because these are going to maintain your factory ride height, so you don't have to worry about your handling characteristics or your steering or your braking abilities being affected when you're towing that heavy trailer or have a heavy load in the bed of your truck. As we add weight to the back of the truck, the back will go down and the front end will come up. This affects a few things.Number one, it affects our headlight angle. Our headlights are now facing more towards the sky, and they could potentially blind oncoming drivers, and when they're not aimed down properly at the road like they should be. Also, it'll take weight off the front end of the truck, so we have less steering and handling capabilities. It will also cause a little bit more front tire wear, because the front tires now develop positive camber as the weight's taken off them, so it'll cause more wear to the outside edge of your tires. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Ford F350, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Airlift load lifter 7500XL air helper springs, part number AL57596.Now here's what our air bags look like installed. These airbags are great solution for those of you who are towing a heavy trailer such as a gooseneck or a fifth wheel or even a standard trailer with high tongue weight. Or are carrying a large amount of weight in the bed of your truck. This will allow you to maintain your factory ride height and have your braking and steering ability be the same as if you didn't have a heavy load in the bed of your truck. This will allow your front brakes to work better and maintain your steering and handling abilities, that way you don't have to worry about having poor control of your truck because you don't have the proper amount of weight over the front axle. These airbags will help support up to 7,500 pounds of weight. They're not going to increase your gross vehicle weight rating by 7,500 pounds of weight. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ford F350, we're going to be taking a look and showing you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs, part number F2703.Give you an idea of what our truck is before we add our bags on or add weight to it, we want to get measurements of the normal ride height. So we're going to go from the ground to the top inside of the fender on the front and the back. About 36 and a half in the front, about 39 in the back. Now with the addition of the weight, we'll take another measurement. Looks like our back is dropped about an inch and a quarter and our front has come up about a half inch. Now what that's going to do, it's going to cause problems with your suspension, your steering and in turn your tires, put unnecessary wear and tear on your tires. It's going to raise your headlights, so they're not shining down at the road. more

As we take our vehicle on our test course, you can see that it's going over our speed bumps here; it's a much rougher ride. Now, if we go down farther we get to our slalom course. As I'm making the turns it really doesn't feel as stable as I would like it to, and it just generally feels like I am hauling something extremely heavy in the back. We're gonna take our vehicle back through our test course over the bumps, and I can immediately tell you it's a much softer ride, and it just feels like I have a lot more control. Now, if I go down to the slalom part of the course, I can tell you immediately, the truck just feels like it wants to go faster and I have much more control, and I feel the steering much more responsive. As you can see here if look at both of them, the factory settings, you can see much more travel on the axle, whereas one with the air bags, it's gonna cushion that a little bit and give us a little bit more of a smoother ride. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ford F150, we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Timbren rear suspension enhancement system. Part number is TFR1504E. Now the need for rear suspension enhancement typically comes from either hauling heavy loads in the bed of your truck, like an in bed camper or maybe some equipment, or if you're hauling a trailer. What will happen is once you have the bed loaded down, this one has a fifth wheel hitch in it, so you'll put your fifth wheel on it and it makes the rear of the truck squat down. That puts a lot of strain on the rear suspension package. Once you have your Timbren installed, once that squat happens, you see there's a narrow gap here, you'll have limited squat until the Timbren engages the stop. more

They're all going to help prevent all of those things from happening, so let's take a closer look at some of the benefits from each one. Now, our helper leaf springs here are not only going to give us that load leveling support, but they're also going to give us a little bit of anti-sway because of the way they're going to mount. Our leaf spring style helper springs are going to mount to our factory leaf springs. They're going to activate our lower overload springs to help evenly distribute weight, ensuring the truck stays level for a better handling, and it's going to reduce side to side sway and body roll. With our leaf spring helper springs there is a little bit of customization. more
