Review of Redarc Trailer Brake Controller Wiring Harness - RED99FR- Video

Today we're going to take a quick look at the Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for your Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers.This wiring harness is going to allow you to easily install your Redarc Tow-Pro Brake Controller. It is right about two and a half feet long, so it's going to give you a lot of room to work with and to just make sure that that brake controller is mounted where you want it. And it's going to be a lot simpler to get everything installed. Basically this end is going to plug into your connection plug underneath your vehicle's dash. This is going to be a custom fit, so it's going to work with your 2016 through 2020 Toyota Tacoma, as well as your 2015 through 2020 Toyota Tundra.Our other end is going to them fit on to our Redarc Electric Brake Controller, it's going to work with the Classic, Elite or Liberty Brake Controllers.Now, if you have the Elite or the Liberty, it's going to be very easy, just have to plug it in with the Classic. more

Rob: Hey, everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite-I-Command Proportional Brake Controller on our 2019 Chrysler Pacifica.Now here's what our brake controller's going to look like. It is a traditional style brake controller, so we're going to have a small box that's going to mount to the dash. Now, I like it because it is really easy to read, and we do have a fairly good amount of space right underneath our ignition switch here, to put a brake controller.I'm not that tall, but I still have plenty of room, so I'm not going to hit my knee on it or anything, but you just want to keep in mind, this is going to take up a little bit of space here. Now our Draw-Tite is a proportional brake controller, and what that means is, it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer in the same time and intensity then we apply the brakes on our Pacifica.If I we're to ease into a stop, and slowly press on the brakes, it's going to lightly apply the brakes to the trailer. But at the same time, if we have a panic stop, or we smash on the brakes really quick, it's going to apply a lot more pressure, and a lot quicker to the brakes in our trailer.It's not going to be like the old time delayed style, where you press on the brake, and then it's just going to have a preset amount of time that it'll wait. more

Curt Venturer Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at CURT's Venturer Time-Delay Trailer Brake Controller. This is a very slim and thin brake controller. So if you're looking for something that's going to have a minimal impact in your vehicle, this is definitely one of the smaller ones out there. As far as a brake controller that's in one package like this. And since it's a time delay brake controller, you can put it pretty much wherever you want, because the orientation's really not that important. Many of your proportional brake controllers need to be mounted in a specific orientation, they have to be leveled side to side, and front to back needs to be fairly level as well. more

Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Today, we're going to be taking a look at Tekonsha's Voyager proportional brake controller. This is an entry level proportional brake controller designed to work with electric brakes. It is not designed however, to work with electric over hydraulic brakes. If you are wanting to use that on your trailer, then I would highly recommend Tekonsha's Prodigy P2 or P3 models. But with this base model here, if you've got just standard old electric brakes, like I've got on my trailers, then this is a great option because it is proportional, which means that the harder you are breaking the harder this is going to break your trailer behind you and vice versa if you're breaking softly, just kind of creeping up to a stop sign. This will match that as well, because it can detect that inertia. more

Today, we're going to be taking a look at Draw-Tite's Activator IV time delay trailer brake controller. With it being a time delay brake controller, the nice benefit of the time delay versions is that they can be mounted in any orientation. You can put this thing just about anywhere in your vehicle. I've got it in kind of a traditional location underneath the dash leveled like you would a proportional brake controller. But that's again really the big benefit with all your proportional brake controllers. They need to be level side to side and they have usually particular angles that they can be front to back, whether it be up or down here. more

Curt Discovery Trailer Brake Controller Review- Video
Hi there heavy haulers. Today we're going to be taking a look at Curt's Discovery Time Delay Brake Controller. The cool thing about time delay brake controllers is that you can put them pretty much wherever you want. They don't have to be in any specific orientation. They just need to be securely mounted to ensure it doesn't rattle around and eventually potentially cause damage to the internal components.That being said, if you're wanting a smoother braking experience with your trailer, I would recommend a proportional brake controller, as they work with an inertia sensor inside that works with your vehicle and the brake pedal. So as you stop in your vehicle, the inertia sensor detects how quickly you're stopping and will automatically apply the brake in your trailer proportionately, so that way it's going to have the same brake pressure as your vehicle. more

Review of Autowbrake Trailer Brake Controller - Proportional Controller - 3430001- Video
Hey everyone I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're going to be taking a look at the Autowbrake Electric Brake Controller. This is kind of a unique style of brake controllers since it is going to be a trailer mounted brake controller that eliminates the need to have the unit mounted in your cab, which can cause a lot of issues with interference, for your airbag, causing some issues whenever you're getting in and out of your vehicle, whacking your knee against it. There's just never really a good spot these days to find a place to mount those brake controllers and at best, that just kind of looks awkward. So we don't have to worry about any of that with this guy. The only thing that we'll have in the cab is going to be this little key fob here. So you can press the button for the autumn or the override, and then also adjust the aggressiveness of the braking, right from this little piece.So you can mount this on your dash, put it on your key chain, have it somewhere readily at hand, but not have to take up a lot of space or worry about any kind of interference. more

Today, I have a 2019 Jeep Wrangler and I want to walk through how to install Redarc's Tow Pro Elite brake controller and when we think of a brake controller, we think of a brake controller looks like this. In the new jeeps, it is very hard to mount this. These have to mounted a certain way. If you mount it in the locations where it has to be mounted or where it needs to be mounted, it really gets in the way of your legs if you have the seat all the way up to the dash or even for somebody who is taller because the jeep seats don't go back as far as they used to either. more

It's what our brake controller is going to look like when it's installed. This is going to give us the options to adjust our brakes on our trailer, to suit the weight that we're towing. It's going to be a proportional brake controller, which means we can set it to match the brake pressure that we apply in our brakes or on our brakes in our vehicle. One thing to keep in mind is if your vehicle does not have a factory tow package, you will need the ETBC7 kit, in order for your brake controller to work.ETBC7 kit is going to come with everything needed to get it installed. more

Today, we're going be taking a look at the Curt Echo wireless brake controller on our 2015 Ford F150.Now, the really nice thing about the Echo is that it is a wireless brake controller. So that means we're not going to have to put any holes in our dash, find somewhere to mount our brake controller inside, like the typical traditional style controller. This is just going to plug directly into our fully functioning 7-way, and it'll provide all the braking force we need.We'll go ahead and plug ours into our 7-way. You'll notice right by the door latch here, we're going to have a blue light. That's just letting us know that our Echo is getting power, but you can see that it's not solid. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2018 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi there Toyota owners, today in your 2018, Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install, Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller. To assist us with that installation, we'll also be using ETBC7, which is a kit that contains all the necessary components we need to have a 7-pole connector at the back of our vehicle. This is what our prodigy P3 looks like when it's installed. What's nice about this brake controller, is that it's a proportional brake controller, which means it has an internal inertia sensor that detects the movement of the vehicle. So it can appropriately apply the output to your trailer brakes to match the vehicle. So if you're stopping on the brakes real hard, this detects that sudden jolt in stopping motion with the inertia sensor and it will apply the trailer brakes hard.If you are just easing on the brakes, this will detect it and it will apply lower voltage back there to ease on the brakes to make it match your vehicle. more

Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2015 Toyota Tundra- Video
Rob: How's it going everybody Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller on our 2015 Toyota Tundra. Here's what our brake controller looks like once it's installed and we chose to mount ours on the right-hand side of the steering wheel, just so we could see it pretty easily when we're driving and we have access to everything we need to. This is what we consider a traditional style brake controller, because it is going to be a box that has to mount on the dash.There are a lot more newer styles that are coming out where either is a remote style mounting system, where it's not mounted on the dash, or a very small button or dial that's mounted on the dash rather than such a big box. But with this being a traditional style brake controller, it's still is a really nice, very good functioning brake controller. Partially because it's a proportional brake controller. What that means is that when we push on the brakes in our Tundra, it's going to apply the brakes to our trailer in the same time and intensity. more

Rob: Hey everybody, Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Tekonsha Primus IQ brake controller on our 2013 Ford van. The Primus IQ is going to be a really good example of a traditional style brake controller, where we are going to have this small box mounted to the dash. Now I particularly like this one because it doesn't have too many fancy whistles, but it's going to do exactly what we need it to. It's going to send a signal from our van back to our trailer and apply the brakes.What's really nice is this is a proportional brake controller, which means it's going to be sending those signals in the exact same time and intensity that we apply the brakes they're going to send that to the van, opposed to some of the older style ones which we're time delayed, which there was just a preset time and then it would send the brake pressure back and apply the brakes. This is not going to be putting the brakes on if we don't need it. If we're sitting in a stoplight, have our foot on our brake, it's not going to be applying the brakes because it's going to realize that we're not moving. more

Review of Tekonsha Brake Controller Parts - Custom Fit Wiring Plug - TK54FR- Video
Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here etrailer.com, and today we're taking a look at the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adapter for your brake controller, and this makes it really easy to connect your brake controller to your vehicle. You don't have to worry about hard splicing anything and the nice thing about it is that it's removable, it's temporary, you don't have to worry about this wiring being in there forever. So if you decide you don't want the brake controller anymore, you can just take this out, stow it away, and not worry about it.It should be pretty easy to get this installed. For this particular vehicle, you might need to get into the panel cluster or the instrument cluster just to the right of your steering wheel. We have a good diagram for that on the product page here at etrailer.com, so check that out, it actually has pictures. And basically you're just going to pry that back and behind the little pocket there, there should be a plug that matches up with this gray plug, and you'll be able to connect those two together and have the wiring function for your brake controller. more

We're going to be installing this in conjunction with the brake controller adapter plug, as well as the Hopkins seven and four- way trailer connector kit.One of the main questions we get in regards to brake controllers is which one to use, because there's tons of different options out there. Well, in my opinion, you really can't go wrong with the P3, and that's because there's going to be multiple different settings and adjustments. You can really customize it to your particular application, but yet it's still going to be easy to use and not really confusing.For example, on our customer's vehicle today, it's actually a shuttle bus, and so, if you think about it, the weights are going to constantly be changing depending on how many passengers you have inside here, or pulling multiple different trailers. more

Ryan: Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2014 GMC Sierra 1500, we'll be taking a look at the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controller. You will also need the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adapter for your Sierra. One of the things that separates this brake controller from many of the others that I personally really like, is your ability to customize it to different size trailers that you might have. What I mean by that is, if you hit this top right button and hold it down, it'll pull up a menu that has five different trailer settings. For example, if you have a smaller trailer, you can save all your settings to that trailer, and say if you have a larger one, you can adjust those settings for that trailer, and save it under trailer two, and so on and so forth. more

Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2020 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Ryan: How's it going Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2020 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller. The main thing that really separates this brake controller from many of the traditional style brake controllers like this is a couple of things. One, it's going to be really small and two, you're going to be able to pretty much mount this anywhere that you want and on a lot of today's newer modern vehicles, that dash space is really limited and can be really challenging to find a good spot to mount a brake controller like this that's out of the way, but yet still easy to use.There are other brake controllers that are similar in the design of this one and most of our customers specifically compare this one to the Redarc. I personally like this one a little bit better than the Redarc and that's because behind our knob here, there's going to be nothing behind it as compared to the Redarc, behind the knob, there's going to be a connector that comes out quite a ways. So, you're still somewhat limited on where you can mount that Redarc because you're going to have to have room behind the panel for that connector to fit. more

Hi everyone, Adam at etrailer.com, today we have a 2019 Nissan Frontier and we're going to be taking a look at the Wireless Brake Controller. It's called the Curt Echo. So all you really need is a working seven pole to make this Curt Echo work. All you got to do is plug it in, plug your trailer into it, and then sync it up to your phone. It is a plastic casing, but it is waterproof, so you don't have to worry about the elements messing with it when you're going down the road. Tereshkova's Prodigy P2 trailer brake controller is a premium brake controller that's going to be proportional so that way the momentum of your vehicle as it comes to a stop will affect how hard the brakes are applied on your trailer at the back. This is going to give you the smoothest braking operation in comparison to other ones out there such as the time-delayed models. It's able to do this by using an internal inertia sensor that senses the momentum of the vehicle so it can appropriately apply the right amount of voltage to the trailer brakes. Today in your 2014 Volkswagen Touareg, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Tekonsha's Voyager Brake Controller.The Voyager is going to be a great entry-level brake controller. It's a proportional brake controller, which is going to feel better than your time-delay brake controllers that are available out there. What proportional means is that it has an inertia sensor inside, so it detects the momentum of the vehicle as it's stopping, and it uses that momentum that it's detecting coming to a stop to determine the output signal to your trailer brakes to appropriate apply those so that way it matches the braking force of your vehicle.Our brake controller has two knobs on it. The right knob is our gain adjustment, which will allow us to adjust the sensitivity of the output to our trailer, and the knob on the left side is for adjusting the level. You only use this when you first set it up. more
