Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Installation - 2020 Mazda CX-5

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Mazda CX-5, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we get into that though, let's just take a couple minutes, check this out and make sure it's gonna work for you. Putting a hitch on your CX-5 makes sense, you know they're pretty capable SUVs and people out using them to do a lot of different things, you know so whether you're looking to use an accessory or do some towing or even a little bit of both, you're gonna want a hitch that can handle those tasks, and this one is gonna be able to do just that. And if it we're me too, I'd want something that'll look decent and I think this one checks that box. You know, for the most part it's gonna be completely hidden and really you're just gonna be able to see the receiver tube opening and to compare this one to some of the other ones out there, they're all gonna be pretty similar appearance-wise at least, really just being able to see this portion of the hitch. more

So whether you're looking to use accessories like a bike rack or a cargo carrier or even pull a trailer around or do a little bit of everything, this one is definitely gonna get the job done. Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2023 Mazda CX-5

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2023 Mazda CX-5, we're gonna be showing you how to install the CURT inch and a quarter Trailer Hitch Receiver. Before we do that though, why don't we just take a couple of minutes check this out and make sure it's going to be right for you. With this hitch, having the smaller inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter opening, this is something I usually recommend if you already have an accessory that'll work with this size hitch, or if you really only plan on using smaller bike racks, things of that nature. If you want a little bit more, if you plan on doing some towing or using larger bike racks or cargo carriers, I usually recommend the larger two inch by two inch hitch. There's just a lot more stuff available for those, and they're a little more heavy duty, a little more capable, if you're interested in those, the one that I particularly like is the etrailer.com one. more

Hi, John with etrailer. Hey, if you want to get the most out of your SUV and open up your world to a host of accessories then check out this etrailer Class 3 receiver hitch that we installed on our 2023 Mazda CX-5. So when I used to think about putting a receiver hitch on my car I always thought about it in the terms of towing something but today there's just so many different products out on the market that you can take advantage of. It's like bike racks and cargo carriers, even ball mounts if you do want to do some towing. So one of the things that stands out about this hitch right off the bat to me is the matte black finish. This is something that etrailer has here and I love it when they first came out with it it was something that caught my attention. more

Rob: Hey, everybody. It's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the CURT class 2 custom-fit trailer hitch receiver on our 2019 Mazda CX-5. Now I know everybody wants to see what it's going to look like on their vehicle, we can go over some of the features, but if you do stick around to the end of the video, we are going to go over the installation process so you can have the confidence to do it at home. Our CURT hitch is a class 2, so it's going to give us that inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening and as you can see, it has a really clean look on the car. We don't have a big bar sticking underneath, and that's because the cross tube is going to be hidden behind the bumper, and the only thing we are going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. Now, since it is a class 2, it does have a somewhat smaller receiver tube so there's a smaller footprint and again it's a little bit less conspicuous than the larger hitches on there. Now, usually when people think of a trailer hitch, they automatically think of pulling a trailer, and you absolutely can. You can put a ball mount in there and easily tow a trailer with your CX-5. more

Really the only thing you're going to be able to see is a receiver tube opening and it's almost going to look like it's part of your car. Now, what kind of separates us is the finish. It's going to have more of a gloss black finish, and in my opinion, it stands out a little bit more. But if that's the look you're going for, then this'll be a great choice for you. Many of our CX-5 customers plan on using their hitch for accessories like cargo carriers and bike racks, let's get to work really good for those and that's really because it's going to give us a good bumper clearance. So what I mean by that, the end of the receiver tube opening is going to sit just behind our bumper and really give us a space we need to use our folding accessories without having to worry about them contacting the back of our Mazda. So this is a class three hitch, so it's going to give us a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver tube opening and a reinforced collar for extra strength. Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-5 - Curt

Speaker 1: Today on this 2016 Mazda CX-5, we're going to review and install the Curt trailer hitch, part number C12170. Now, this is one of the smaller hitches that you can put on your CX-5, and it's great for a variety of applications. First off, it's a trailer hitch, so if you've got a real light-duty trailer, some single axle trailer with 12" wheels on it, this would be a perfect match for that kind of trailer. Also, if you're not going to be pulling a trailer, this is going to be great for a bicycle rack. This 1 1/4" size does lend you up to a variety of bicycle racks, and up to four bikes carrying capacity, in some cases. Also, if you run out of room inside your vehicle, and you need to use a cargo carrier, this will work with a variety of those as well.As you can see, not much is showing on the hitch. All we have is our 1 1/4" opening right here, and our safety chain loops. more

As you can see, we're really not changing the overall effect of the rear of the vehicle very much. Just a small cosmetic difference here with our receiver tube opening, and safety chain connection points. That main cross tube of the hitch remains completely hidden the fascia. That keeps it looking pretty clean here on the rear. This is a Class II hitch, so it's gonna work out really well for most hitch applications. more

With our hitch installed on our Mazda CX5, you can see how well tucked up it is behind the bumper. The only thing you can really see hanging down is the inch and a quarter receiver here and our safety chain loops here, which are very easy to hook safety chains onto because they are not very thick and recessed, so you can hook on even the smallest of safety chains really easily. This hitch has a 300 pound max tongue weight rating and a 3500 max gross trailer weight rating. Obviously you will want to consult the owner's manual of your CX5 to figure out which number is lower. If it is rated for a lower amount than what the hitch is rated for, obviously you will want to go by that number. You don't want to exceed the limitations of your vehicle. For a couple of measurements here to better assist you in choosing any hitch mounted accessories you may need.
