Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the best trailer hitch options on a 2023 Mazda CX-9. Now we're gonna be looking at three of the best options in my personal opinion. Our neighbor today has an inch and a quarter installed on their CX-9, and that's because they already have a bike rack that is an inch and a quarter configuration. But unless you're in that situation, I would highly suggest looking at the two inch. Not only do you get more applications as far as accessories, but also you get more weight capacity. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Now this is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed and it is a hidden cross tube which means that all of the hitch is pretty well hidden behind the rear fascia except for the actual receiver tube opening, so that's gonna make it really nice. You get a clean look, but all the function of your hitch. Now being a two inch by two inch receiver tube opening means that you're gonna have a ton of different accessories to choose from, whether it be ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers. This is kind of the standard size that you'll see a lot of them come in and all of them are gonna stay in place with a 5/8" pin and clip which is not included with the hitch. A lot of your accessories will come with one but it's gonna be required to keep that in place. more

Rob: Rob here at trailer.Com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Curt class three custom fit trailer hitch receiver on our 2019 Mazda CX9.Now here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. It's got a really clean, almost factory appearance to it, because the cross tube is going to be completely hidden behind the bumper and all we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out.Now it is a class three, which means it's going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening and have the widest variety when it comes to accessories that we can Mount up.We need to make some room inside of our Mazda. Could put a cargo carrier on here and move all the gear to the outside or if you want to hit the trails with some friends on the bikes, could put a bike rack in here.Or if we need to move a trailer, we can put a ball mount in here. But regardless of how or what we're going to be using our hitch for, we're going to be mounting all of our accessories to the hitch pin hole here on the side. Now the hitch is going to accept a standard 5/8ths pin and clip. Now these do not come with the hitch, but you can pick them up etrailer.Com, along with some locking devices and anti-rattle devices to make sure your accessories are secure and they're not going to move around inside the hitch, making a lot of noise. Now if you are going to be towing a trailer, you need a spot to hook up your safety chains. In here we have a plate style welded to the bottom and we've got plenty of room to get most size hooks on or off.Now if you're looking for a hitch for your Mazda, you want to make sure that it's going to be up to the task that you put it to, regardless if it's going to be towing a trailer or carrying some gear in a cargo carrier. So as far as the weight rating goes, our hitch is going to have a 600 pound tongue weight. more

Here's what our hitch looks like fully installed. The cross tube is going to tuck up behind the bumper nicely and all we're really going to see is the receiver tube sticking out. It is a class 3 hitch, which means it's going to give us that two inch by two inch receiver tube opening and it has a nice reinforced collar giving it added strength and a nice clean finished look. On the side of our receiver tube, we're going to have two holes. The one towards the front of our vehicle it's going to be for a standard 5/8 pin and clip. They're not included but you can pick one up on our website. Now the rear hole here, that's going to be for the J pin stabilization device. more

Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Mazda CX-9

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX-9, we'll be installing the Curt Class 3 trailer hitch receiver, part number C13284. All right, here's what looks like installed, as you can see, it's nice and tucked up underneath our back bumper here, you don't have to have any of the frame sticking down, just the Class 3 2" receiver itself hangs down, with our easy to use safety chain loops here that are on the bottom of our receiver. This hitch has a nice collar welded on around the back of it, to give you a nice finished appearance, and to help give you a high-end look on your vehicle. This hitch has a 600 lb max tongue weight rating, and a 4,000 lb max gross trailer weight rating. If you we're to step up to weight distribution, the tongue weight rating stays the same, at 600 lbs, but the max gross trailer weight rating increases to 5,000 lbs. We have our standard 5/8" diameter hitch pin hole to secure any hitch mounted accessories we may have. This hitch features a nice, high gloss black powder coat finish, that will give us many years of rust and corrosion-free service. Now for a few measurements to better assist you in choosing any hitch mounted accessory you may need, such the ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier, you're looking at about 6" from the center of the 5/8" diameter hitch pin hole to the rearmost point on the back bumper. About 14" from the ground to the top of the Class 3 2" receiver opening. Here's what our hitch comes with, we have our hitch here, as you can see, it's a nice solid construction, no bolting together, no welding required, it's all one piece, ready to bolt on to the vehicle. more

The good thing about this hitch, really easy to install. Your frame has all the built-in weld nuts so all you have to do is hold the hitch up and install the hardware that comes with the kit.
