The Correct Drawbar for a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta with a Class I Hitch
Question:
Is this a suitable mounting bar for a Volkswagen Jetta hitch #24748? The hitch is class 1 and the bar is class 2. Will it fit? Is there a reccommended bar length for the hitch/vehicle? Ready to order but need to get the right stuff. Many thanks

For your 2003 VW Jetta, the drawbar, # 36051, will not work because Class II accessories are designed with a feature that keeps them from being used in a lower class hitch. So you will need to use the Sportframe Drawbar, # 3593, instead. I pulled all the recommended hitches for your vehicle and this is the drawbar that is recommended as the proper fit for those hitches. There is not, necessarily, a recommended length. The limiting factor is the gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacity. In this case, the Sportframe Drawbar, # 3593, has a gross trailer weight rating of 2,000 pounds, and a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. But you should follow the specifications of the vehicle manufacturer and not exceed the capacity of the towing vehicle.
