Roller Bunk Recommendation for Launching a Boat on a Shallow Ramp

Question:

I am trying to make a boat much easier to launch in extremely shallow boat ramps. My ramps are about two feet deep only enough to get the bottom of the boat wet. My trailer may not have cross members close enough to support a 5 foot long roller bunk as us in the area between cross member is more than 5 feet. I would like to get ride of the wooden bunks all together if I could and only use the metal DL21741 Bunk if the gap is only 5 feet. would this work if the bunk is only attached at the extreme ends of the bunk? Also how far back to the bunks need to be so my boat wont slam into the trailer as it comes off? Thank you

Since the crossmembers of your boat are long than 5 feet apart you will have to keep your current wood bunks and install the # DL21741 on top of them. This will only add a few inches to the height of your boat on the trailer which shouldn't make a noticeable difference in loading the boat on a shallow ramp.

The rollers will allow the boat to load and unload from the trailer much easier though so it would still be a good idea. I would start the roller right at the rear of your wood bunk.
