Installing Brake Controller On 2011 Subaru Legacy
Question:
I have a 2011 Subaru legacy sedan, I can not get to the switch to wire the controller, can I run a separate wire from the stop lights to the red wire on controller, stop light switch has 4 to 5 cold wires not enough room to get to stop light switch. Thanks

When installing a brake controller on your 2011 Subaru Legacy, you will need to find a dedicated wire that shows current only when the brake pedal is pressed.
You may need to enlist the help from someone to find this wire. You can have them press the brake pedal while you test wires to see which one only has current when the pedal is pressed. Normally the brown/yellow wire is the wire you need to splice into and attach to the red wire for the brake controller.
If you are planning on towing with your Legacy, you will want to check your owner's manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle.
I have attached a couple of helpful articles that explain brake controller installation and troubleshooting you can check out.
