Weight Distribution and Bolt On Bracket Recommendation for a Trailer with Propane Tanks
Question:
I want to get rp 66084 for my Jayco Octane 273. I didnt get the trailer yet, but Im worried about the propane tanks and battery tray/gen. tray on top of tongue interfering with the lift brackets. Im pretty set on this hitch ,so will I have to modify the tongue mounted items ? Or are there other lift brackets available that will attach to the side of the tongue and not the top?

There is a bolt-on bracket available that is designed for applications just like yours. Part # RP58305 is designed for trailers that have propane tanks or other accessories mounted on top of the frame rails that would prevent a normal snap up bracket from being installed. Since these bolt to the sides of the trailer frame clearance above the frame member isn't required.
This would work great with the # RP66084 as long is this is the properly rated system for your setup.
The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.
