Comparing Convert-A-Ball to Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter

Question:

An RV dealer told me that he has seen king pin boxes that have cracked as a result of using these types of conversions. The only one they recommend is the Reese Goose box . Any truth in this or trying to sell me the part he recommends. Thanks

In a battle of Convert-A-Ball vs Reese Goose Box, in my opinion the Reese Goose Box wins hands down.

The Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter, # RP94622, replaces the pin box on a trailer and is equipped with a fully enclosed air bag and dual shock absorbers to provide cushion and absorb road shock. This is also the only adapter that is endorsed by Lippert Components Inc. and will not void the warranty on their trailer frames.

Goose Box # RP85FR is designed to replace the Lippert 0719, 1621,1621HD and the Fabex PB-600 Series pin boxes. Goose Box # RP94716-61301 is designed to replace the Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes.

Although I have never personally seen a cracked king pin box as a result of using the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter, # CAB-C5GX1216, adding an additional component to the towing system puts added stress on the pin box and trailer frame as well as the tow vehicle.
