How to Remove Cam-Lock Type Rear-View Mirror on 2005 Honda Pilot

Question:

My 2005 Honda pilot appears to have a cam lock type rear view mirror. There is no screw. How do I remove a cam lock mirror? If I get the cm33000 is there an adaptor so I dont have to glue another base on the glass? Thanks.

Expert Reply:

Both wedge-style and cam-lock types of rearview mirrors are illustrated in the linked photo. Both use a slide-in fitment for the mirror's base to engage the windshield mount. To remove the mirror in most applications it will need to slide up towards the vehicle's roof in order to disengage from the mount.

If there is no set screw or other fastener on your mirror mount then it may indeed be a cam-lock type. The CIPA Mirror # CM33000 is intended for wedge-mount applications and includes the wedge but no adhesive. Silicone is the preferred adhesive.
