Many trucks have a quick-connect port for installation of aftermarket trailer brake controllers. This port is located under the dash on trucks that are so equipped and it allows connection of a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 using an adapter # 3035-P. In trucks that are not equipped with such as port you will hardwire your controller.
The wires on your Activator II have the following functions: the WHITE wire is GROUND, the BLACK wire is 12V POWER input to the controller, the RED wire receives the BRAKE SIGNAL from the cold side of the brake light switch and the BLUE wire carries the controller OUTPUT signal to the truck's 7-way trailer socket.
I have linked for you at right a video showing the process of hard-wiring a controller and at the 1:25 mark our installer explains the functions of the vehicle harness wires. The vehicle green/yellow wire connects to the red wire on the Activator; the blue wire on the vehicle matches to the blue wire on the controller; the vehicle black wire connects to the white wire on the controller; the vehicle red wire connects to the controller black wire.
If your truck does not have a 7-way you will also need part # 37185. There should be wires under the back bumper that carry 12V trailer power (orange or red) and brake output (blue wire) for connection to the 7-way.
The linked article will give you additional guidance and photos to simplify your installation.
