4-Bike Platform Style Bike Carrier for a 2014 Acura MDX
Question:
I have a 2014 Acura MDX and just picked up the Curt 2inch hitch from you great hitch / super easy to install, and you shipped it very quickly. I am looking for a 4 bike rack to go with the hitch. I have two 20inch BMX bikes, a beach cruiser and a mountain bike. I am looking for one of the racks that hold the bikes uprights vs hanging them by the frames. My experience with the ones that hang by the frame in the cradles has not been good...meaning the finish on the bikes get beat up and they do not do well with BMX bikes. I am looking for a high quality, but reasonably priced rack that will not damage the bikes finish. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance

I am so glad that you like the hitch you bought for your 2014 Acura MDX. Now, let's get you a bike rack!
The Curt Class III trailer hitch # C13146 measures 2-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the rear bumper on your 2014 Acura MDX. This means that any bike rack is going to clear the rear of the vehicle.
Based on what you are looking for and the different styles of bikes you want to carry I have some excellent recommendations for you. What you are looking for is a platform bike rack. A popular 4-bike platform style rack we carry is the Swagman XTC4, # S64665. It holds the bikes at the wheels and at the frame using padded hooks. I have included a link to a video review of this rack to the right for you.
If you want a rack that does not touch the bike frames at all then the other option is one that holds them by the wheels. Take a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH69TX. But if any of the bikes have fenders I do not recommend this rack because it cannot hold bikes with fenders well.
