I spoke with my contact at Hopkins and they informed me that the Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48110 that you referenced has 16 gauge for the white (ground) wire and 18 gauge for the rest.
For a 4-way that has all 16 gauge wire you would want the Wesbar 4-Pole Flat Connector # W787264.
