Specs:
The standard tread on these tires has solid, continuous ribs with very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. These tires are designed for use on trailers, so they don't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.
Rambler radials have double polyester cords and double steel belts. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation.
Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Taskmaster Rambler ST 225/75R15 Radio Trailer Tire in a load range D. Now, this is a radial ply tire. It's great for highway use. Uses double steel belts and double polyester cords that combine for a nice long life and they do use a nylon tread firming belt overlay around the tire to help prevent tread separation. This tire is designed to fit onto 15 inch diameter wheels, the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall.
All right, here you can see ST for special trailer, 225/75R15. The R lets you know that it is a radial tire, has a load range D, which means it's an eight fly radial tire. Maximum load capacity is 2,540 pounds at 65 PSI. And all the new trailer tires do come through with speed ratings on 'em now, and the way you can tell is the speed rating. They stamp it on the sidewall and it's by a letter designation.
And where you find that is right after the size, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter M, speed rating M means this has an 81 mile per hour speed rating. Now, the tread design on this, it is a standard tread, has nice solid continuous ribs, and there's very few sipes or cuts into the rubber. The sipes are what help with bad weather by breaking up any water underneath the tire. But because these tires are designed for use on trailers, they don't require the level of traction that's you're needed on a vehicle that has braking or steering. This is an ST tire, which is a special trailer tire, has the sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads, which means it's created specifically for trailers.
It's not intended for use on other vehicles. And this tire does meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications and will exceed your federal motor vehicle safety standards. But that should do it for the review of the Taskmaster Rambler ST 225/75R15 Radio Trailer Tire in a load range D.
