Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2014 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ With RS Package

Question:

I have a 2014 Cruze LTZ with the RS Package and am wondering if the receiver opening is low enough to the shank without rubbing or modifying the rear bumper fascia? I am considering the Draw Tite hitch: Thanks,

The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 24882, is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Chevrolet Cruze LTZ with the RS package. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

I have attached a drawing that shows the hitch receiver along with the fascia. Because of the lower back bumper on the LTZ, you will need a drawbar with a rise to accommodate an accessory like a bike rack or a cargo carrier.

If you plan on towing a small trailer with your Cruze, I recommend using a ball mount with a rise like part # 3593. This ball mount has a 2-1/8 inch rise, and includes the pin and clip. If you need a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball, I recommend part # 19256. For a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19258.

If you need trailer wiring on your Cruze, I recommend the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, part # 118508. This plugs easily into the connection points in the truck of your Cruze and after running the hot lead to the battery, gives you a 4-way connector at the rear of your vehicle. I have attached a link to an installation video you can check out.

When considering any hitch-mounted accessory, you will want to take a quick measurement to be sure you have enough clearance from the rear bumper. You will need a tape measure, and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Hold the straight edge vertically against the back of the bumper, making sure it extends below the hitch opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the straight edge. That gives you the distance needed to clear the bumper. I have attached a helpful article that explains this you may want to take a look at.

If you want to let me know what you plan on doing with your hitch I will be glad to make some recommendations that will work for you.
