4-Way Recommendation for a Motorhome and Adapter Recommendation to Tow a Motorcycle Trailer
Question:
I currently have a motorcycle trailer with the wiring of 6 wires that I want to attach to my motorhome. The motorhome does not have any wiring in place at all. What adapter or method should I use? White- Ground Green- Right Turn Yellow - Left Turn Red- Brake Light Brown- Running Lights Blue- Brakes not needed I have pictures if thats helps. Thank you very much!

Like most motorcycle trailers your trailer uses separate turn signals. Meaning the turn signals and the brake lights are on different bulbs/circuits.
To install a 4-way on your motorhome you will want the part # 119250KIT. This is a universal kit that will work well but will require you to test your motorhome's taillights for function.
Now to install a 4-way on your motorcycle trailer you will need two thing. First you will need a vehicle to vehicle tail light converter, the Tow Ready # 118158, which will split out the turn signal circuit from the brake light circuit. On the input side of the converter, you would have the right turn/ brake circuit attach to the green wire, the left turn/ brake circuit connect to the yellow wire and the white wire ground to the trailer frame. The running light circuit would bypass the converter entirely.
On the output side, the yellow wire would connect to the lead for the amber bulb in the tail lamp on the drivers side, and the green wire connects to the lead for the amber bulb on the passenger side. The brown wire exiting the red bulb connects to the running light wire that bypassed the converter and the green wire that feeds the red bulb connects to the red wire brake light wire from the converter. The white wires from the lamps would ground to clean bare metal on the trailer frame.
I realize this sounds a bit confusing, but take a look at the diagram I produced for you, which hopefully will explain in in more detail.
The 6-way on the trailer will need to be removed and a 4-way will get installed in its place. For a 4-way to wire to the input side of the converter you would want the # HM48110.
