Best Adapter for Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Valley Gooseneck Hitch in a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500

Question:

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with a Valley gooseneck hitch already installed. I want to by a trailer that has a 5th hookup. The trailer is about 9000 pounds. What Valley products do I need to purchase and how much does each cost? Also do you sell each of these needed parts?

Valley has actually shut done production and is no longer producing any parts. In other words, Valley is no more. But not to worry, I have a solution for you that will allow you to tow the 5th wheel trailer with the Valley gooseneck hitch that you have in your 2003 Dodge Ram 2500.

We have several 5th wheel trailer to gooseneck hitch adapters that you may like. There are adapters that will attach to the 5th wheel pin box such as # CAB-C5G or # CAB-C5GX1216 from Convert-A-Ball, or # AM3139 and # AM3100 from Anderson. The Convert-A-Ball options have built-in cushioning for a smoother ride. But the Anderson models have higher pin weight capacities. I have linked some video reviews to the right for you.

And the option that is going to provide the best ride hands down is the Reese Goose Box. The only catch is that the Goose Box options only fit certain pin boxes. The pin box manufacturer and model number should be on a sticker or plate on the pin box.

If you have one of the pin boxes listed, the Goose Box is a fantastic option because it has an air bag and shock built in for a smooth ride. Goose Box # RP85FR fits Lippert 0719, 1621, and 1621HD pin boxes and Fabex PB-600 Series pin boxes.

Goose Box # RP94716-61301 fits Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 pin boxes. I have also included a link to a help article on these types of adapters. The price of each part can be found on the product pages.
