Converting 4-Pole Flat to 7-Way Connector on 2008 Dodge Ram
Question:
I'm wanting to install a Tekonsha Prodigy P2, I have a 2008 dodge ram quad cab 4x4, has factory 4 wire flat plug, came with plug in for brake control for under dash, but I dont see any factory plug in spots for a seven pole type in back. do you have to cut into the wiring harness to connect plug in back?

The brake controller output wire and the 12-volt accessory feed for the trailer have not been run to the rear of the vehicle. You can still use the wiring adapter, part # 3020-P but the blue wire from the controller would bypass the adapter and would be extended with a length of 10 gauge wire, part # 10-1-1 that is ran through the firewall and along the underside of the vehicle to the 7-Way trailer connector at the rear of the vehicle.
If your trailer has any accessories requiring 12-volt power, you would need to run an additional length of 12 gauge wire from the positive battery terminal, via a 40 amp inline circuit breaker, part # 9510 to the rear of the truck to attach to the # 37185 trailer connector adapter. The # 37185 would simply plug into the existing 4-pole, the black wire would run to the battery via the breaker, the blue wire would connect to the wire ran back from the controller and the white wire would ground to the trailer frame.
