Tips for Routing a Trailer Wiring Harness Power Wire on a 2013 Ford Escape
Question:
How / where do you run the wire from the control module to the battery. Doesnt seem to be any path to the engine compartment.

There are actually several different methods you could employ when routing the power wire for a trailer wiring harness such as # C56335. The quickest method is to just route it under the vehicle and use zip ties to secure it to various places from front to back. I have included a couple links that should help you with this installation.
