Best Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2014 Toyota Highlander with or without Factory Tow Package

How can I tel which wiring harness kit I need for a 2014 Toyota Highlander. Im not sure what I need.

The easiest way to determine the wiring harness you will need for your 2014 Toyota Highlander is to have the dealer run the VIN. They can tell you if it is equipped with the factory tow package or not.
If it is, then you would need # 56042. If it does not have the factory tow package use # 118449.
You might be able to test the factory connection point at home to determine if it is functional or not. You would need a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a multimeter such as # PT89ZR. Then you would test the pins on the connector at the factory connection point while someone sits in the cab of the vehicle and runs through the light functions. If it shows power when the lights are activated, then you likely have the tow package.
