Solution for Bypassing a Factory Trailer Wiring Harness on a 1997 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a 1997 Ford F-150 4x4 with factory tow package and 7 way trailer light connector. Unfortunately I recently lost power to the trailer plug but all other tail lights work correctly. In researching it told to look at and test the #14 20 amp relay under the hood in the power panel. I ran the test and found continuity when powered so not the fuse, in addition swapped it with another of the same rating that was in the panel and still no juice to the trailer plug. The truck is old and I only need a 4 wire connector, so my question is do you have any other suggestions regarding testing or correcting what I have, if not do you sell a plug in kit to just install a trailer 4 wire connector that possibly operates off my now working rear tail lights?

If all you need is a 4-way and are tired of messing with the headache of tracking down wiring problems a simple solution would be to install the part # 118344 on your 1997 Ford F-150.

This will simply install in-line with your truck's taillights and will provide you with a 4-way.

I also attached an FAQ article on troubleshooting 4-way installs for you to check out.
