Best Trailer Brake Controller for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Factory 7-Way
Question:
I would like to find out what controller for electric brakes i need for a 7 pin connector on a jeep, it has the hitch but no provisions for electric brakes.I am not sure if it has factory brake wiring or not so I am assuming i need the whole kit. Which one do i need and what conector on rear of vehicle? Thanks

If your 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you will just need the appropriate brake controller installation kit and the brake controller. For an installation kit use # 5506 for a 30 amp circuit breaker.
For a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. This is one of our most popular brake controllers because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable. I have included a link to the right with information on brake controllers for you.
I have also included a couple of links that should help with the installation. Not all of the information in those links will be relevant to your installation so you can skip those parts and focus on the ones that pertain more to your installation.
